Personally, I'd like to know your source for information you quoted. Many of the more gory details provided in your version are not present in the posted article, and frankly they sound implausible. The article states that the couple was led into the suspect's house on Sunday and that both victims were most likely dead by Sunday night. That's a lot less than 4 days of captivity.

We covered this for over a month and i am so surprised that it never got national attention. This was horrible and still is. Justice needs to be served. Evil in the world needs to stop. Here's the link to those. A fair warning to everyone, it is quite disgusting and i don't recommend anyone with a weak stomach to read it. I noticed a few people getting dug down above for knowing more about this tragic story.. but as disgusting as it sounds they were accurately describing what is now know to have happened.

As a student at Duke, a comparison along these lines was shoved in my face a few months ago... after the Duke Lacrosse case had pretty much fallen apart (though charges had not been dropped), a white Duke co-ed accused a black man of raping her at a frat party. Keep in mind that this accuser isn't a bat-***** crazy stripper with an extensive legal history. The story appeared twice: once when the allegations rose, and once when the suspect was apprehended. Only one person, an editorial columnist known for his inflammatory--but very well-written and well-argued--opinions, wrote a word about the glaringly obvious connection and hypocrisy, while everyone else tiptoed around it. - Fire4Effect, on 10/12/2007, -23/+53The 5 black men were just working out their years of "oppression" on "mean ol' whitey". I don't remember all the variables, but it's an approximation of how much of a ratings smash a story would be. If it's not on the air, then it's because the people probably won't respond well to it. This one is probably just too extreme for news stations to cover.
Of course, this is assuming that this isn't a made-up tale. It wouldn't be the first time somebody made up a crime to support their argument. The "baby in the oven" story that that has been used to 'illustrate the dangers of pot' has been around since the 1970s, yet the tale actually started it's life as a hypothetical case that was then taken out of context, and never actually happened. - bradbaxter, on 10/12/2007, -10/+24You ***** idiot. I do not believe I am a racist; have robbed in my home and held up at gunpoint inmy home with shots fired and kids in the house before. When I tell the story of it I don't say there were 3 BLACK GUYS (I am a caucasion), I tell them about the experience and I do not hold this against anyone of color. I have great friends who are black.
I do feel like there is discrimination going on everyday, as well as reverse discrimination EVERYDAY. Why is it necessary to track race on placement exams, and why are there minority students being accepted to schools with lower scores than a caucasion person? This is something that needs addressed in our country to prevent reverse descrimination. There is animosity on buth sides for various reasons. The main thing to remember is not to get angry about it. But talk rationally about it and recognize this as a true example where it was missed due to the student massacre, and not because of racial labels. The most horrific stories get the most coverage, and there was another tragedy that day.
My prayers go to the families and for our community to recognize that many whites fear bringing up these very issues about testing and lower scores for minorities getting acceptance before a white person w/ higher scores. We feel injustice but are afraid to bring it up. I believe it is about fairness NOT race. BUT chosing to allow someone in because of their racial identity vs. academic abilities is a tragedy that we all need to be concerned about.
I love people of minorities, you bring great diversity to our American Melting Pot, but please make these things change and you will see less animosity from caucasions. You seem upset at what has happened to him. He deserved to get the media attention that he did get. What he did deserved to be brought to light. Comparing his words to a horrible crime that happened at a completely different time period to complain about media coverage is just plain silly though. Even if the crime and his words happened at the same time, so what? Coverage of Imus wouldn't (and didn't) stop coverage of anything else. If you understood the world you live in you would know that "the news" is not about informing the public anymore, it's about ratings and money. Pay attention. Also, what Imus said is about more than race, it's about gender as well. Women shouldn't be referred to as "ho's". Imus is an influential man who said hurtful and damaging things about a group of women who didn't deserve what he said. It wasn't humorous and it was meant to be mean spirited. He knew he was wrong so he apologized. Get over it.
Now considering I am not qualified to teach special education students, I'll end this with something simple as you might not understand what I say otherwise... Race is not real. There are different cultures, religions, and ethnicities, but only ONE race.
