- dhalgren99, on 03/03/2009, -1/+28So, when do we start the Rebuild The US Economy pledge drive?
- Ymeg, on 03/03/2009, -10/+23Those billions will really help buy more rockets.
- Nouman6, on 03/03/2009, -2/+11pretty soon the US might need some of that
- mycoplasma, on 03/03/2009, -2/+8As soon as I read that, I pictured Obama on PBS asking for donations while several cabinet members and congressmen behind him answer phones.
- dalittle, on 03/03/2009, -5/+10We give way more every year to israel. You should start your campaign to save US tax dollars to cut off israel first, it would have a bigger payoff faster.
- mycoplasma, on 03/03/2009, -0/+5What about the part where you beg for a government bailout and then blow it all on private jets and parties?
- kdor, on 03/03/2009, -1/+6Dumb. Without rebuilding the political system it is like rebuilding a slum into a slum.
- raz98, on 03/03/2009, -3/+8Giving money to one party for arming then giving the others money for reconstruction will not solve the problem. US must make peace in the area, it has the power and strings to do that.
- Duncan3, on 03/03/2009, -8/+13Are we supposed to be happy or sad this is more/less than we gave Israel to blow it up in the first place?
- rrife, on 03/03/2009, -1/+5Wow they could buy 2x B2 Stealth bombers to help rebuild the country with that money!
- poidh, on 03/03/2009, -12/+16Yeah, let's give a ***** load of money to a territory which is governed by Islamist terrorists. What on earth could go wrong?
- NightC, on 03/03/2009, -2/+6good point.
- stix213, on 03/03/2009, -2/+6I don't think any US Billions$$$ should be heading over there.
- masamunecyrus, on 03/03/2009, -8/+11"... insisting their funds bypass the territory's Hamas rulers."
NOW we're finally on the right track. HAMAS is similar to the military junta in Burma/Myanmar -- they hand out international aid and boxes of food to people who need it, but not before scribbling their names all over it and taking credit. - NightC, on 03/03/2009, -2/+5Good point.
- Nauree, on 03/03/2009, -1/+4Righttttttttt.......................NOW!
- tobor0, on 03/03/2009, -1/+4Dude WTF don't you know that Hamas is the "democratically elected" government of the Gaza Strip? Nevermind the fact that after they gained power they ejected the opposition from the legislature and either arrested or executed its members.
But still man, democratically elected! Democratically elected!!!
/sarcasm - tobor0, on 03/03/2009, -1/+3Oh man, I guess you don't know that it's Israel Apartheid Week this week. That means that officially there is an Apartheid going on in the Gaza Strip (aka Occupied Palestine). It doesn't matter that Israel disengaged from the strip, because of the blockade and the water, and the electricity and all that stuff that I heard at the rally last night. It doesn't matter that this "blockade" was agreed to by the previous PA government in the Gaza Strip.
I mean, you know that there is an Apartheid system in place because we have a whole week dedicated to it. That means it's a fact, because thousands of 19 year old university students who spend the rest of the year blowing mom and dad's money on drugs and alcohol can't all be wrong!
/sarcasm - chrisduser, on 03/03/2009, -6/+8What's the point? Israel will just destroy it again, using weapons that were purchased with American tax payer money.
- NotAChickenHawk, on 03/03/2009, -4/+6@stvtraveller: Well, since Palestine is more or less part of Israel (which is of course at the heart of the matter), one wonders how much of the above figures Israel has spent on the Palestinian areas. I'd bet its more than the zero you think it is.
- Demand911Truth, on 03/03/2009, -0/+2Israel is just going to destroy anything that gets rebuilt. They've made it pretty clear that the infrastructure of their new Gaza concentration camp should be kept as primitive as possible.
- masamunecyrus, on 03/03/2009, -8/+10Regardless of how they came to be, Israel qualifies as a country under every UN condition dictating what constitutes a country, not the least of which is self-determination.
- NightC, on 03/03/2009, -3/+5I agree poprocks

The link to your source for "facts" happens to be:
http://www.wrmea.com/aboutwrmea/index.htm
What an interesting group it is. The Washington Report on Middle East Affairs seems to report negatively on only one country in the ME. Guess which one they happen to single out? No other countries seem to be negatively mentioned throughout the website.
Are you implying that the palis receive no aid? Why not ask suha arafat where she got all her millions from?
But that would require you to take an honest look at facts. And we all know that the billions the PA received has gone to building infrastructure and creating a viable economy right?
You are the definition of useful idiot. You stand on the side of people that hold no respect for human life. That willingly send their children to death and use them as human shields. That target innocents hoping to draw return fire to propangandize the murder of their own.
You should be ashamed of yourself for supporting pure evil. Sadly, you are not. - Noliaboy75, on 03/03/2009, -5/+7Where's all the pro-Hamas people now? I guess even the Arab donors realize that Hamas are nothing more than terrorists feeding of their own people.
- Barackalypse, on 03/03/2009, -4/+6If our humanitarian aid to Africa is any indication, you're not going to be able to bypass the guys with the guns, doubly so when they're the ones that run the Government. Also, what's to stop Israel from coming back? I've lost track of how many times they've invaded and retreated from Palestinian territory in response to rocket and mortar attacks.
- jmewhite1, on 03/03/2009, -8/+9i would hold off on that for a bit, dont think violence there will end anytime soon especially as rockets continue to enter isreal
- chickenloco, on 03/03/2009, -2/+3Including $900 million dollars that you paid in taxes, in the midst of our worst recession in decades, when debts are at record highs, our politicians find it acceptable to give our tax dollars in "aid" to whatever government wants it.
Yes, I feel sorry for them, but it is NOT the governments job to be a charity with our tax dollars to other countries! - JohnnySoftware, on 09/02/2009, -0/+1Not sure but the current rocket design uses fuel made out of ingredients you would find at a bakery.
That is why Israel has restricted the imports of some items that would simply be for cooking elsewhere.
Remember how that food fight broke out in your junior high cafeteria?
Imagine how it would have gone if some kids figured out how to weaponize the food and wanted to kill some of their classmates.
Here is some reference material. It's a sad subject in many ways and I don't care to delve deeper into it. You should be able to find what you are looking for in it. If memory serves correctly they were putting shrapnel like stuff in the payloads.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_rocket_and_mo ... - manogamez, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1They need to defend themselves!
Wait who are we talking about again? - BotchaMcCoola, on 03/04/2009, -0/+1Slightly off topic but does anyone know what the Palestinians put in the payloads of those small rockets?
- BotchaMcCoola, on 03/03/2009, -2/+3Like about 4 years ago?
- NotAChickenHawk, on 03/03/2009, -5/+6Can we insist on maybe a 6 month halt to all of the violence there before we fork over the money, so that we can make sure the Palestinians won't provoke the Israeli's into coming right back in and blowing everything the aid money builds straight back into rubble?
- Barackalypse, on 03/03/2009, -7/+7They have a sponsorship deal with Iran that includes rockets, I don't think they need to buy any.
- Barackalypse, on 03/03/2009, -5/+5How many of these donors will now find their telephone conversations monitored without a warrant and find their names on the no fly list?
- inactive, on 03/03/2009, -1/+1This must be great then.
- Doc123, on 03/03/2009, -4/+4What a waste of good tax payers money.
- moirende, on 03/03/2009, -11/+11Aaaaaand, here comes the parade of "it's not enough", "stop funding Israel / the Israelis are evil", etc. etc. etc. comments from the no-good-deed-is-ever-enough-unless-it-also-involves-beating-up-on-Israel-somehow crowd. No reason the people of Gaza shouldn't receive humanitarian aid. Plenty of reason to keep that money as far away from Hamas as possible, if that's even possible.
- TenaciousG86, on 03/03/2009, -1/+1[citation needed]
- Logrusmage, on 03/03/2009, -1/+1It's called saving money, working hard and being fiscally responsible.
Oh, and when you make it, investing so you can make more money.
Basically, be a greedy, greedy guy.
I <3 Capitalism - poprocksandsoda, on 03/03/2009, -20/+20It's sad when you realize how much of that $4.5 billion will go to shopping trips for Palestinians abroad, to buy weapons, etc. The human shields of Hamas suffer twice for their ignorance of electing Hamas.
- inactive, on 03/03/2009, -3/+3Hey that's how much Israel's military receives from the US government every year. No wonder that figure looked familiar.
- inactive, on 03/03/2009, -5/+4President Hussein pledged $900,000,000 to help HAMAS rebuild rocket stockpiles. This is three times more, per capita, than he promised Americans in the form of a middle-class tax cut.
- jessehadden, on 03/03/2009, -3/+2Dude... replace "Palestinians" with "Americans" and "Hamas" with "United States Government" and you sound exactly like Osama bin Laden. Like, pretty much word-for-word. I realize it is human instinct to only take someone seriously is he is a *real* threat, and to grind him into wormfood if he's weak, but please, these are desperate people, not wormfood.
- BotchaMcCoola, on 03/03/2009, -2/+1Oh what a relief, "International Donors"! At first I feared US taxpayers would be coerced into funding both sides now. Whether a good charity or not, if you force me and your fellow citizens to support things we do not approve of then you are immoral and deserve the consequences.
- anitafagina, on 03/03/2009, -4/+2You are ***** stupid.
- dysphonix, on 03/03/2009, -8/+5Just in time to rebuild, just so the the Palestinians can instigate another retaliation from Israel and the weapons we sell them. Vicious circle.
