- bumkz, on 11/14/2009, -1/+53Every city should have a red light district!
- itsjussed, on 11/15/2009, -3/+46 Mexico already has a red light district. it's called Mexico.
- absurdist, on 11/15/2009, -2/+35If it means they're licensed and regulated, and you're not as likely to get beaten/robbed/killed by a hostile paranoid pimp, all the better.
BTW, ***** the Roman Catholic Church. - shutaro, on 11/14/2009, -2/+14Couldn't hurt...
- edebolt, on 11/15/2009, -1/+9A red light district is a nice focal point for tourists to visit. The fact is pay for sex is everywhere in Mexico. That will continue until they become a developed and prosperous country which provides better jobs to women.
Take a look at SIngapore. For decades Singapore women were famous for their services. These days the economy provides much better opportunities and now they have to ship in Thai. Malay, Chinese and Indonesians to service the customers. - mesasone, on 11/15/2009, -1/+8Unfortunately it sounds as though Mexicos corrupt police force is as bad if not worse than a hostile, paranoid pimp.
- Shadic, on 11/15/2009, -1/+8How very Christ-like of you.
- scoottie, on 11/15/2009, -1/+6No, Mexico has Tijuana
- starlon2, on 11/15/2009, -1/+6Yeah, because becoming a nun is the obvious alternative.
- kameto, on 11/15/2009, -0/+5"Because an area dedicated to prostitution is a healthy thing to have in a city?"
Because prostitution doesn't exist w/o a dedicated area? Please. Better to have an area where you know whats going on and avoid it than to walk down any street and see people pandering. - LoneWolf01, on 11/15/2009, -0/+5There's either an area dedicated or they're just spread out. If anything, a dedicated area would be probably be safer for the women, when they're all nearish the same place, they get to know each other and look out for one another.
- kd1s, on 11/15/2009, -0/+4Christ on a Stick, even Mexico City is more progressive than many areas in the U.S.
Torres' approach to the oldest trade fits in with the leftist politics of his Democratic Revolution Party (PRD), which has run the Mexican capital for the past decade. PRD lawmakers have also legalized abortion, same-sex civil unions and a limited euthanasia in the city.
That last part, limited euthanasia! Damn! - sh0em0nkey, on 11/15/2009, -0/+3I develop web sites for independent adult entertainers, and I've worked with countless escorts. This is subject matter I'm very familiar with.
And you know what? Every single red light district has proven to be beneficial to the economy and well being of that city/town. Not to mention, the most important aspect, the health of the women (and men) in those industrialized zones. Forcing regulation upon the sex industry has always worked for the benefit for everyone involved - less corruption, less pimps, less crime, better health and well being.
On top of that, studies show that sexual predators (such as pedophiles) were actually more sexually repressed in their upbringings and social interaction. Imagine that, growing up in a far too strict of household or community with anti-human values can ***** a person up enough to find little boys and girls attractive? The puritan movement, I believe, is one of the biggest contributions to our current social injustices. Everything from prohibition, to the outlawing of brothels, has stemmed from puritan movements. Which, if you know, prohibition gave rise to organized crime and gangs, and the outlawing of brothels has led to (tada) an increase in street prostitution and associated crimes.
That "whore" cliche is so tired to me. I don't care what you think, whether it's working on the streets, for upscale clients, taking your clothes off at the club, or posing for the internet - it's a tough job. You wouldn't belief the incredible mental capacity and physical prowess it takes to be successful at those jobs, or for many, to even get by.
With that said, I would never wish someone to be involved in any of those industries out of necessity. That's horrible. For the ones in it because they like it (many of them do), you have my absolute respect and admiration and I wish you well. - specialK16, on 11/14/2009, -1/+4Are they hot?
- thedudex213, on 11/15/2009, -0/+3That entire country is a red light district.
- R3publican, on 11/15/2009, -0/+3oh clap!
- gbates31, on 11/15/2009, -1/+3All that licensed and regulated means is that the state wants their cut of the proceeds. Or else.
Unless, of course, you're referring to state officials as "hostile, paranoid pimps", then I'd have to agree with you. - ryrocker, on 11/15/2009, -0/+2oh snap!
- MRavioli, on 11/15/2009, -0/+2It's ironic cause only a couple centuries ago, the Roman Catholic priests were prolific patrons of prostitutes.
- macmcraeart, on 11/15/2009, -1/+3what's the point? don't most of the mexican prostitutes now live in el paso.
- amorougen, on 11/16/2009, -0/+1Mexico City is a terrific place. Maybe you should visit it.
- gkiltz, on 11/15/2009, -1/+2You mean Mexico city ISN'T a red light district?
Have to admit, I was fooled! - LoneWolf01, on 11/15/2009, -3/+4Sarcasm, dude.
- Leopards, on 11/15/2009, -0/+1Till it is legal this won't work! The "Girls" need to be able to call a Cop without getting arrested themselves. As far as it's everywhere now goes, Yeah, and you leave yourself wide open to blaclmail and or a stretch in a Mexican Jail! As long as it is illegal, you can not regulate, tax or control the activity, whatever it is, no matter if it is prostitution, drugs or a while back alcohol!
- kgerm, on 11/15/2009, -2/+2pics or it did not happen.
- BabyFirefly, on 11/15/2009, -1/+1They should. It brings in tourism.
- BoutDemCanes91, on 11/15/2009, -2/+2Beaner whores took ma money dang it!
- HotLeper, on 11/15/2009, -2/+2Mexico needs a red-light district like a diabetic needs brownies.
- joculator, on 11/15/2009, -5/+4Yeah, ***** the catholic church and all that work they're doing getting these women out of prostitution. How much does your mom pull in a night btw?
- tzwoo, on 11/15/2009, -1/+0They should. It brings in tourism
- joculator, on 11/15/2009, -5/+1When did I ever claim to be christ-like?
- j0phus, on 11/14/2009, -8/+2I support red light districts in every city, but I'm not so sure it is a good idea for Mexico. With their cartel problems it would be extremely dangerous.
- raptorlightning, on 11/15/2009, -13/+2Because an area dedicated to prostitution is a healthy thing to have in a city?
Protection is not guaranteed for that job, nor should it be. Pun intended.
