      Besides, I know plenty of well educated folks who would disagree with your opinion that they're badly written. They're obviously children's books, at least early in the series, and they're not exactly hard to read, but that doesn't mean they aren't written well. One of the smartest people I've ever met told me that he thinks Rowling is the greatest author of the past 20 years.
