- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -4/+51Personally I do not use weed. However, I support others and their right to do what they want with their own body.
- TexasWaterSnake, on 01/06/2009, -4/+36The War On (some) Drugs - an excellent example of a situation where the alleged 'cure' is worse than the alleged 'disease'. The government should step off and leave people alone.
Whose body is it, anyway? - MooseOfReason, on 01/06/2009, -4/+33Legalize it.
- govsucks, on 01/06/2009, -4/+29This isn't a fight of liberal vs conservative. This is a fight about liberty vs collectivism. If you believe that you own yourself and that you have the right to do what you want with your own body then of course you think weed should be legal and you are a liberty lover. If you think society owns you and that you shouldn't be allowed to consume things society deems "dangerous" then you are a collectivist. There are all sorts of collectivists. Republicans, democrats, socialists, communists, fascist, catholics, christians, muslims and all of them have the same relative goal. To force the beliefs and views of their collective on everyone else. Collectivism is ***** evil and it is the thing responsible for every atrocity from things like this stupid pot law to things like the holocaust. A collective trying to force its will on others. We should be free to do with our own lives as we please. I don't want to tell you how to live and I want you to have those same rights I don't care if you smoke dope of ***** in the ear, its really none of my business.
- MRoCkEd, on 01/06/2009, -4/+26Drug decriminalization will clear up ineffectively used resources, reduce health problems, and make society safer, all while preserving personal freedom. All drugs, not just weed.
- speciallyblend, on 01/06/2009, -5/+24forget smoking it, just eat it, GREEN EGGS AND HAM or a Cookie or Brownie. If we just eat it, then there are 0 arguments against, either way people should have the right to light it up or eat it:)
- shycyberguy, on 01/06/2009, -5/+19 The government will soon be broke and will no longer be able to enforce this stupid law.
- CoolHandLuke70, on 01/06/2009, -2/+14I don't smoke weed but feel that it should be legalized especially for those who wish to use it medicinally.
- vtbarrera, on 02/03/2009, -1/+12I've been smoking publicly for years. Better do it bigger this 4/20.
- PopRule, on 01/06/2009, -2/+13Could be a significant, legal revenue source. The country is in a recession. How about legalizing all of it? Save dough on courts, prisons, police, etc., etc. Bankrupt organized crime. Create jobs.
- AdmiralHalsey, on 01/06/2009, -3/+13I know it's not getting legalized, but that still won't stop me from running over your children at the bus stop. Can't help but love the entrepreneur spirit of the black market. Go find a soul.
- WhiskeyWrites, on 01/06/2009, -0/+10I think medicinal use shouldn't even be an issue, even though it unfortunately is.
- sheeplescareme, on 01/06/2009, -0/+10bankrupt since 1863, officially declared in congress in 1933. we can never pay our debts unless we end the federal reserve. since the war on drugs™ brings in an obscene amount of revenue and keeps the people in fear of the state, it will likely not end until we all get up off our collective rear ends and demand it does.
- MooseOfReason, on 01/06/2009, -2/+11...which explains exactly why our elected officials are actively working to keep them illegal.
Wait, what!? - inactive, on 01/06/2009, -1/+10well said
- algaeturd, on 01/06/2009, -2/+11I think you're just trying to get to the front page.
- AdmiralHalsey, on 01/06/2009, -4/+12Absolutely, and as such we must PROHIBIT alcohol because those druggies are getting stoned drunk and running over anyone they can find, do it for the kids!!! I smoked weed once, and I had an insatiable desire to run over children at the school bus stop. REEFER MADNESS.
You, sir, are an uninformed *****. At the very least you are a ridiculous hypocrite. I shouldn't respond to a troll, but I can't help it. - paulsabo, on 01/06/2009, -7/+15This will accomplish absolutely nothing... but I'll digg it in hopes it will anyway.
- KenSPT, on 01/06/2009, -0/+8I consider myself a casual pot smoker. I don't smoke all the time, I only smoke when the mood hits me. My roommate, who's a great guy but has his demons, is an alcoholic.
Normally I'll smoke after a long stressful day at work, and when I do so it'll be in the comfort of my own home. I'll smoke and then spend the night chilling out; watching a movie or listening to music. I don't bother anybody, don't put anyone else in danger, and keep to myself.
My roommate drinks 6 nights out of the week, and when he does so he'll stumble around the apartment, making a mess of everything, inconveniencing my life, and on some occasions damaging my property. It's also not uncommon for him to drive home absolutely wasted after a night out; putting the lives of innocent people at risk.
Sadly, if a cop found alcohol in our apartment, despite the fact my roommate is a drunk, nothing would happen. However, if a cop walked in and saw me on my bed hitting a bong and watching a movie, I'd be taken away in cuffs. I'm the criminal, but who's the bigger threat?
The war on marijuana is ridiculous, plain and simple. - ElHeffe, on 01/06/2009, -0/+8or even if you want to smoke it use a vaporizer, no toxins
- jgubbe, on 01/06/2009, -3/+11Where are you people from? This goes on every April 20th in Seattle.
- KenSPT, on 01/06/2009, -0/+6You, my friend, are part of the problem in this country ...
- PhilliesBlunt, on 01/06/2009, -1/+8You sound like an after school special.
- kemp34, on 01/06/2009, -0/+5Bigger picture being you imposing your will on everybody who disagrees with you?
Did you forget about the whole life, liberty, pursuit of happiness deal? - WhiskeyWrites, on 01/06/2009, -0/+6I am assuming paulsabo means that the whole smoking up as civil disobedience thing wont accomplish anything, which on it's own will not. Making sure people vote for any initiatives to decriminalize and voting in politicians who will attempt to pass laws to decriminalize will.
- Bilabrin, on 01/06/2009, -0/+6Are you in denial?..."a generation of good for nothing losers who can't keep a steady job"...we're already there dude!
- AQMessiah, on 01/06/2009, -0/+5No, that's reality trying to slap you in the face.
- solstice21, on 01/06/2009, -0/+5Show up and hang out with the stoners to show your support
- tmyprod, on 01/06/2009, -0/+5As I heard someone say earlier today. "You can trip walking while walking in Seattle and accidentally do a bong hit before you hit the ground."
- PhilliesBlunt, on 01/06/2009, -0/+5I'm addicted to coffee actually, and without it, I'm not functional in the mornings. Think I need a cure for that?
- AnotherDiggGuy, on 01/06/2009, -1/+6I think they criminalize weed because if your smoking the good stuff, it's easy to sit back and think about stuff... which isn't good for the baboons that run the US.
- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -0/+4Yes. Let product liability lawyers take care of BS like the percentage of cocaine that should be in reproductions of original Coca Cola WITHOUT my taxes getting involved unless you count taxing the Coca Cola. As long as addictive substances are accurately labeled as addictive, I don't see anything wrong with free choice. It's your body.
- Falldog, on 01/06/2009, -0/+4Somehow I'm ill convinced that Digging up a blogspot article and smoking openly on 4/20 is the best way to decriminalize pot.
How about a gathering on the mall, constantly writing your congressman/senator, or working against negative stereotypes? - beyonddarwin, on 01/06/2009, -3/+7There is no reason why it should be illegal!
By the way you can vote and express your opinion on the legalization of marijuana and other stuff at Global Opinion:
http://www.globalopinion.eu/ - speciallyblend, on 01/06/2009, -1/+5nothing really? i guess that is why in my 3 counties in colorado we voted in a strong majority to legalize marijuana and that is why in colorado a speeding ticket cost more then 1ounce and a bowl. i guess that law was from nothing as well:) keep your chin up or move west young man, pretty much legal in colorado already. the only way you get busted in colorado is if a cop didn't get laid the night before or you commited a felony(in which case your dumbass should be busted for a joint or 1 ounce 100 dollar fine!!!! CHANGE IS ALREADY COMING:)
- ThinkBox, on 01/06/2009, -1/+5driving on Salvia
http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1819137
Salvia is legal! - sheeplescareme, on 01/06/2009, -0/+4technically, it is theirs unless you hvae become a freemen, but i dugg your comment anyway since the first part was spot on.
- AdmiralHalsey, on 01/06/2009, -1/+5A bury squad that follows you around and buries you? Are you sure you're not smoking the reefer, because you're a little paranoid pal. Say hello to Dr Nut himself. Why do you hit the space bar before exclamation points ? you creep !
- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -0/+4I agree. When everyone who is passionate about legalization goes to Washington for a demonstration on the mall, we will take the first big step in getting it done. Becoming more active in various political organizations in general is a great idea too.
- Frankyfan3, on 01/06/2009, -1/+5Prohibition is juvenile.
Doody-head. - Bilabrin, on 01/06/2009, -1/+5Explain to me how drug laws are going to keep intoxicated people off of the road? It's not working. Education and rehab will get you more bang for your buck as far as keeping society safe and your children. Hell, how about more enforcement against drunk drivers? The "war" strategy is failing. More kids than ever last year reported trying Marijuana. People are losing trust in government and faith in authority. The current tactic is like trying to beat someone into submission. Why not try showing you actually care with education and rehabilitation instead of a policy which enriches gangsters (just like in alcohol prohibition), causes the youth to lose faith in the police (when they try marijuana which they have been told is a "dangerous" drug and find out otherwise), offers countless opportunities for police and political corruption, and which by any objective standard is a total failure.
Bottom line, you can't legislate morality no matter how hard you try. People are going to do what they want and will always find ways around your blocks. The war on drugs serves only to make the prices skyrocket and encourage robbery to support the habit. You think what I am saying is "give up". I'm saying, let's face reality and change tactics to something more effective and less authoritative. Force is not the answer to every problem. I know that's hard for a neocon to understand but the world is more subtle than that. - Plasmatica, on 01/06/2009, -0/+4Isn't everyone who posts an article trying to get to the front page?
- PhilliesBlunt, on 01/06/2009, -1/+5He was probably drunk
- Resch17, on 01/06/2009, -1/+4Wow, need a little mustard for your paranoia sandwich?
- KenSPT, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3Most worthwhile things aren't ...
- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3Keeping it illegal has made it pretty damn popular during my lifetime, despite ever-increasing government spending attempts to make it UNpopular. I wonder if drugwar-worshipping politicians expected that?
- BoneStamp, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3Hmm, just read about freemen... that's pretty interesting. Thanks.
- itstodd, on 01/06/2009, -1/+4Legalize it for Gods sake!! I am for anything that speeds up the process of natural selection!
- inactive, on 01/07/2009, -0/+3Besides the Netherlands (which, for purposes of our opponents, alternately doesn't exist or is Hell-on-earth) the other hilarious part of cannabis prohibition is the hemp farming part. In addition to being stupid, and anti-capitalist (in a free market, hemp competes with cotton absent the goons with guns & cages) it reflects our "citified" culture.
Think about it...Anyone with ANY experience in farming would know that filling the air with male cannabis pollen might NOT be the best possible thing for people in the business of growing sinsemilla (Spanish for "without seed") buds. Another obscure part of the prohibitionist "duh files," but 99% of 'em have 0 clue about this. Ask and you'll see. -
