- pintomp3, on 10/11/2007, -4/+111he also killed soviets, gays, gypsies, and many others. why did he kill them? he didn't just kill jews.
- DLaloggia, on 10/11/2007, -0/+94Actually this is an old propaganda story that the US started during WW2 as a way of humiliating hitler. It was admitted as such awhile ago.
- JCSaint, on 10/11/2007, -4/+58@vroom,
I don't know. I guess I just think anyone who wants to exterminate a race of people along with millions of others and take over the world is, by definition, insane. I mean, I don't think he was crazy like he wears his underwear on his head but he was a megalomaniac. - JCSaint, on 10/11/2007, -6/+57@elebrio,
I don't see the article as blaming Jews or even blaming the prostitute. It just says, "Hey, he was probably medically crazy and this is probably the reason why." Did any of us think Hitler was sane? - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+52@elebrio
Didn't agree with the twisted premise, just wanted to get it out there for Digger's opinions. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+45The idea that Hitler started the Holocaust in the first place is a dangerous misunderstanding. After the end of World War 1, Germans felt hugely betrayed by the terms of the treaty which limited Germany greatly. It was commonly believed that a "stab in the back" by Jews had done this, and without them, Germany would have triumphed in WW1.
When Germany was prosperous, people might have agreed with this basic idea but didn't really see a need to act on it - Hitler was a political failure in the 1920s. But enter the worldwide economic downturn of the 1930s and suddenly rhetoric against a convenient scapegoat sounded great to a lot of people. The holocaust happened because of widespread hatred of Jews and belief that they were responsible for Germany's woes. If Hitler had died in 1925 the holocaust and WW2 would have happened, just with a different guy at the top. It actually might have been worse if Hitler hadn't been in charge, since Hitler was increasingly incompetent as the war went on.
Why Hitler specifically became antisemitic is perhaps interesting but ultimately not important. Nearly everyone was antisemitic at the time, and this was deeply intertwined with politics of the time. - 10001110101, on 10/11/2007, -2/+38Hitler got around the block a couple times?
- elebrio, on 10/11/2007, -34/+70"A brief encounter with a Jewish prostitute may have led to Hitler's genocidal Holocaust, claim psychiatrists. There is "ample circumstantial evidence" for the theory, according to a team headed by psychiatrist Dr Bassem Habeeb. "
What do you know... an Arab blaming Jews. I always knew Hitler must have been justified in killing all those Jews... now where is my bomb vest? /sarcasm - vroom101, on 10/11/2007, -3/+33Human nature left unchecked is capable of committing shockingly horrible acts.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+34he also killed christians and retards
- TheThestral, on 10/11/2007, -1/+28psychiatry is a pseudo-science... as an actor I have all the facts!
- EntropyMan, on 10/11/2007, -9/+34Whether Hitler was crazy or otherwise neurologically impaired, people chose to follow him. Were they _all_ suffering from syphilis?
There is no doubt that Hitler's inner circle knew exactly what they were doing. They (and he) wanted absolute power. And history shows that the rationale (or lack thereof) for one people victimizing another is fairly irrelevant and the source of the prejudice is entirely irrelevant Tyrants will always find a politically weaker scapegoat and claim that eliminating that scapegoat is the only way to solve some social ill.
Today, in America, it happens to be illegal immigrants and Muslims, though thankfully, no one is talking about killing them just yet. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -6/+28According to the biographies I read his extreme hatred for Jews started when he studied art and architecture and some Jewish professors told him (truthfully) that he sucked.
BTW, Hitler was not a vegetarian. His early biographers were British who reserved the term "meat" for beef exclusively. Hitler did not eat beef as he was into various occult practices, but he ate plenty of pork. - zyl0x, on 10/11/2007, -12/+32This is ***** hilarious. He didn't just kill jews. He killed thousands upon thousands of innocent non-jews as well.
Who wrote this *****? - Pseudorious, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17Seconded.
- Reno582, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17Well he didn't do it because they didn't like his paintings.
- deathsquad75, on 10/11/2007, -0/+16agreed...anti-semitism was nothing new to germany at that time. this story is mere speculation and something that can't be proved without prior documentation.
@tinker123
depends on your source, its also documented that it was instilled by anti-semitic propaganda from a young age. - beavioso, on 10/11/2007, -10/+23Could have been the meth, or Vitamultin, that was injected into him daily by the good Dr. Morell that made him genocidal. I hear it's better than religion for making homicidal maniacs.
- lnf69, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13this was an interesting post, but not of much value in understanding how something like the holocaust happens.
I think the more important question is how Hitler got to power and why did so many people follow his orders. I think that understanding this point is of more consequence to us all now. - plutpwnium, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13His body was found, it was burned in a bunker garden almost immediately following his death. There are still fragments of his jawbone and teeth under Russian control... i dont know why everyone seems to think his body was never found. You dont shoot yourself in the mouth and then just dissapear, lol.
- Conwaysb0718, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14The Russians took his skeleton at his hideout bunker. He apparently shot himself in the head AND took cyanide. They verified his skull by his dental records. He had some seriously jacked, one of a kind, teeth.
- jspegele, on 10/11/2007, -4/+17@thinkbox
First, it's "tit for tat", not "tic for tac", second, you're an idiot. - plutpwnium, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13Hitler wasn't insane. He was perfectly competent and knew what he was doing, he was a very smart man who stupidly bit off more than he could chew by opening more fronts into Germany than could be handled. Had he stuck with his one front war 'rule', and not grown so arrogant i believe the war would have turned out much differently.
- teevee247, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11You'd have a dollar?
- thelab101, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11They even go so far as to mention it in The Good Shepard.
- Gee1004, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12I thought it was video games
- ilkeryoldas, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11So this news site is reliable?
- halleyscomet, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11@zyl0x
Millions actually.
Slightly over half The Holocaust victims were Jews. The rest were gays, people who were political opponents of the party or anyone who was mentally or physically handicapped. - Aeaus, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11You gotta admit though, this theory is a bit more exciting them portraying him as a raving drug-addict.
- iamsocruel, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10this is the stupidest ***** i have ever read. this is like saying Bush is a terrorism driven madman because he grew up in Texas. buried for pure historical inaccuracy.
- basic0, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Dugg just so that people will read your comment. "Hitler was crazy" is oversimplifying things. If you've ever read any WW2 books or watched the excellent 1970s BBC series "World at War", you know there were a LOT of different forces at work all over the world that sort of coalesced at around the same time and resulted in war. Blaming the whole war and holocaust on Hitler because he was "crazy" is an easy way for ignorant people to explain such a complicated and horrific time, but it's not accurate.
- elebrio, on 10/11/2007, -10/+18I hear ya... I dugg it.
- raoulduke87, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Hitler was a total germophobe and a prude. From what I've read about the guy, he didn't even like to shake hands. What leads these people to believe he'd have ***** a hooker? Its pretty clear why Hitler did what he did. He outlined his views on the Jews way before the war even started in a little book called Mein Kampf. I think its safe to say that Hitler started the Holocaust for one simple reason...
to quote Eddie Izzard "he was a mass murdering *****, as many important historians have said" - mookiemookie, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9It's human nature to try and place some neat and tidy reason like this around the senselessness and infinite horror of the Holocaust. Too bad it isn't as simple as that.
- wyrdness, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7It's interesting that this article is from the Daily Mail - a British newspaper that, at the time, supported Hitler:
http://www.indexonline.org/en/indexindex/articles/2005/2/britain-secret-papers-reveal-daily-mail-owne.shtml
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daily_Mail (see section "Support for Nazism and Fascism")
Of course, they changed their minds once Hitler started thinking about invading Britain, but it's still a fairly right-wing paper. - rwinograd, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8Is this article supposed to excuse his actions because he was insane? Newsflash: Hitler wasn't insane, he knew exactly what he was doing. Insanity is a cop out to excuse terrible actions of human beings.
Most people involved with the holocaust were sane: like the millions of Nazis who helped him with his actions.
Did Adolph Eichman have syphilis too from the Jews? how about Ernst Rohm? Joseph Mengle? What exactly is the point of this article? - WizardGlick, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9I had read (can't remember where) that he caught the syph from Ernst Rohm in some kind of twisted occult ceremony.
- AZTriGuy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Please, no...
and the reference you're looking for is a little ways up the page, hbndonut beat you to it. And was dugg down. For a reason. - urik88, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Maybe it was soviet gay gypsie jew prostitute?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -8/+12If I had a dollar for everytime a Jewish prostitute gave me syphils .............
- Perleeeze, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Hitler was entirely sane whilst committing the atrocities.
He was not a solitary crazed monster as the Allies (i.e. the victors) would have us believe in the history books they rewrote.
Hitler and the Nazi Final Solution were the natural progression of Western imperialism that began in the equally horific atrocities committed between the 1500's and 1900's in South America, North America, Africa (esp. the Congo of the 1840's) and India.
The particularly insidious racial motivation for Hitler's behaviour were commonly accepted by so-called civilised intellectuals from the 1830's onwards.
It was after the publication of Charles Darwin's "Origin Of The Species" that his brother and a group of highly influential academics, writers and policymakers laid the foundations for racial superiority, culminating in the insidious theory of Eugenics (named after an admirer of Darwin's brother's theories, called Eugens).
Eugenic theory was put into practice throughout the colonies of the imperial powers - 20 million Indians killed by starvation and systematic genocide by the British Raj, 1.5 million Congolese (50% of the male population) exterminated by the Belgians, 1 million South Africans exterminated by the British, 1 million Australian Aborigines exterminated by the British... the list goes on.
It was only during WW2 that the Western powers began to distance themselves from Hitler's activity. This was achieved rewriting the history books in their favour (as do all victors of war) and ensuring that their citizens/subjects would be educated about the benefits of imperialism, without any knowledge of the atrocities that underly it.
It doesn't matter if Hitler went mad because of syphilis, nor who gave it him. His actions were no different to the behaviour of every colonial power before him. Genocide was a common colonial tool of that era, and continues to be in the 21st Century.
Lest we forget. - canha, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5So that means Bush has syphilis also?
- an7agonist, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7http://www.hitler.org/art/
His flower paintings weren't that bad.Don't know about the architecture part though. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4The bar must have been extremely high back then if he couldn't get in with these:
http://www.hitler.org/art/buildings/ - bloodytemplar, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7And Freemasons.
- CommissarVlad, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6True, prior to going absolutely crazy and getting Himmel on board, the Nazis only wanted the jews out of germany, not dead.
- Teku, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I thought the latest theory is that he was a gay artist who got rejected from a Jew art school? Sounds like a New York blogger to me... better watch out for them.
- brufleth, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6@zyl0x
Millions upon millions actually. - BrokenBokken, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3"It's very hard to say with certainty. There's ample circumstantial evidence, though no final proof, that he definitely had it."
yay for wasting my time. - philosophygeek, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Explaining the Holocaust != Justifying it. This is like the other day when I said to a coworker, "You look very club kid today." He said, "Is that good?" And I responded, "I'm just making an observation." Exactly like that.
