- novaculus, on 07/08/2008, -0/+18Yeah but I lost the pool. I bet on 2 hrs 17 min, on the theory that some renegade jihadi who disagreed with the whole idea of the truce would get off a Kassim pretty quickly just to prove his point. Actually took a couple of days before the first rocket came in.
- rightwingattila, on 07/09/2008, -0/+72 hours 17 minutes??? I had 3 SECONDS!

- agisten, on 07/08/2008, -2/+26palestinian correct spelling should be done with lower case since no such nationality exists, Palestinians are arabs who lived in Palestine for some time and then magically become "Palestinians".
In any case any attempt in peace progress such as truce is seen in their eyes as weakness. period. There is no making peace between arabs and jews. It's us or them - everything else is politics.- TRMarchesano, on 07/08/2008, -1/+16Hmm, someone else who actually "gets it"
- catcher6250, on 07/08/2008, -1/+9actually, the palestinians were all ottamans from the ottoman empire . lots of the arabs who ended up in palestine actually fled from the ottoman empire during its draft for the war against france and england. only once the ottoman empire was broken up, did the people in palestinians truly become palestinians.
you know, there wouldn't even have needed to be a war with the palestinians if the leaders of palestine during 1948 wouldn't have hired the ALA to come in and fight the Jews for them. the war scared out all the normal palestinians who were living peacefully with the jews and the palestinians had to flee to their neighboring countries. all this immigration got the surrounding countries (syria, lebanon, egypt, and eventually jordan (jordan was smart and didn't see the point of the war, but was eventually persuaded, as it had the largest army, to fight against Israel) for barely any reason. i think the countries said that they "wanted to restore arab presence" or something like that . anyway, jews end up winning, the palestinians are convinced by fundamentalist leaders that jews are evil even though the jews provided them with new technology and gigantic economic surplus during their immigration period between 1920-1940. So, the palestinians end up residing on the borders of israel, israel is formed, fast forward 60 years, most palestinians are still being brainwashed by fundamentalist leaders. :(
sorry, i am too lazy to write 100% coherently.- AllINeed, on 07/08/2008, -1/+10thank you! finally somebody who knows their history...
- agisten, on 07/09/2008, -0/+5The "peaceful" palestinians who fled to neighboring countries, particularly into Jordan, wisely led by it's king, were so loved much, Jordan decided to have a little war with them - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_September_in_Jo ...
"The violence resulted in the killing of 7,000 to 8,000 from both sides.[1] Armed conflict lasted until July 1971 with the expulsion of the PLO and thousands of Palestinians to Lebanon."
- lucy22, on 07/08/2008, -1/+22I just don't understand why they will not keep their word, and stop shooting rockets. Peace, they want but the have to participate too.
It is a two way street, Gaza strip gets opened, so they should stop with the rockets already!- novaculus, on 07/08/2008, -1/+20Lucy, their definition of "peace" requires the destruction of Israel, the slaughter, enslavement, or dhimmification of all kaffir, annd Islamist supremacy. (see comment of agisten, above)
- urik88, on 07/08/2008, -1/+19Because it's not just about getting Jerusalem, but about slaughtering the joos, as their kids TV shows continuously state.

How dare you! Farfur is just a lovable peaceful mascot!
Check out his peace-loving diatribe on Arab television if you don't believe me.

Awwwww. Isn't it cute how he calls for the destruction of Israel and the mass homicide of her people? - AllINeed, on 07/08/2008, -0/+9Umm... Lucy, please meet my neighbors. Just like their lovely Farfur, they are as mice - give them a cookie and they will want a glass of milk.
Cookie = billions of dollars designated for peace education, infrastructure, healthcare, food + their own democratically elected government designated to ensure that the money is distributed properly (which, apparently, hasn't trickled down to non-politicians yet) + arming them with weapons for their own police force (which they in turn use to murder young Jewish Israelis hiking in the forest)
Milk = Full possession of the Land of Israel, full possession of the State of Israel (two different things, won't get into it now) + "to finish Hitler's job"
Friendly, no?
- mairgun, on 07/08/2008, -15/+1and Israel did NOT violate the truce
http://digg.com/world_news/UN_Israel_violated_truc ...- sultanknish, on 07/08/2008, -1/+18Those are not truce violations. Firing warning shots at people trying to penetrate your border is what security is.
- Tanktunker, on 07/09/2008, -1/+5So America not letting Mexicans cross the border illegally is a violation of their peace agreement?
