- hlcno, on 12/30/2007, -0/+31More Max Headroom style vids from UBL
- inactive, on 12/30/2007, -22/+53I believe the USA and Israelis have something to do with putting out this video to justify more war on "terror".
- DennisPease, on 12/30/2007, -6/+32Lol, That video clearly shows Bhutto saying bin laden is dead. I don't see anything in Al Qaeda's video of bin laden that would indicate this new video is anything but their editing old bin laden propaganda with newer events. I say the new video is their attempt to make the world believe he is alive.
- wetmetalthong, on 12/30/2007, -6/+22If it's on Digg and looks suspicious, people scream "PHOTOSHOPPED" or "CGI"!
But from the government, the guys who have the budgets and manpower to pull off the most realistic fakes, every assumes legitimacy. Funny how the world works. - expert01, on 12/30/2007, -8/+22I believe it's my government's attempt to make the world believe he's alive, to make sure we stay at "war" (and have a scapegoat for the next "terrorist attack")
- hiscity, on 12/30/2007, -3/+15All Bin Laden has to do to regain credibility is to make an unannounced visit to Iraq, Afghanistan, or even Saudi Arabia and have just one interview among the terrorists, before quietly departing.
Bush, Cheney, congress reps, and even Rice, all do so on various occasions, dropping in by surprise and exiting quickly to keep from getting targeted.
You'd think a leader of martyrs would have more guts.
Even if alive, he might as well be dead. - SeethisPass, on 12/30/2007, -4/+16 One fake bin Laden video was all I needed to know that the rest have no credibility.
http://www.digg.com/world_news/It_s_Official_Bin_L ... - phnx0221, on 12/30/2007, -4/+16Bin Laden = Goldstein. Bin Laden is not alive. Bin Laden, at this point, is a central figure, that everyone knows, that is hated and feared by the western population. I'm surprised that the media machine took this long to bring him out. Then again, if they would have done it any sooner, it would have been more suspicious then it already is. I think it would be willfully ignorant of us to take anything the mainstream media says about Bin Laden. We can intercept their transmissions, and we can easily find brand new videos, audio, and various calls to action, yet we can't find him? He's dead, but he makes easy use for a call to patriotism and support, so they'll continue using his words like they are new, so that we can have something sustainable to fear.
- Mark6569, on 12/30/2007, -0/+10Actually, he's working the overnight shift at a Mobil gas station in Bellmore, NY.
- zephyr42, on 12/30/2007, -9/+19i don't see how the title has anything to do with the article... except the name OBL
- Groovemaster, on 12/30/2007, -7/+16The thing you don't seem to understand is that the US government is a benevolent entity obsessed with serving the best interests of the human race, and that conspiracies never happen because that would involve one or more people planning a crime together.
Once you accept these facts it's much easier to live a wasted life of ignorance, apathy and subservience. - WiseWeasel, on 12/30/2007, -1/+9Oops, she was booted out for corruption (likely trumped-up charges, though who knows if there might have been some truth there) 11 years ago, not 30 (that was her dad).
- inactive, on 12/31/2007, -3/+11Osama Bin Laden == Immanuel Goldstein
Is it time for the two minutes of hate yet? - gigabyte3d, on 12/31/2007, -0/+7Bin Ladin's cave is in Area 51!
- WiseWeasel, on 12/30/2007, -5/+12Not particularly... Not that she's wrong in this case, but I wouldn't exactly call Bhutto a beacon of truth or trustworthiness... Let's not forget that she presided over a very corrupt administration in her last two terms as prime minister. She might have done some growing in the last 30 years, but I'm not sure how honest she is...
- colincornaby, on 12/30/2007, -5/+12Could we stop getting bias headlines? The article says nothing about OBL being dead. I would like my news with no spin please. Otherwise I would just watch Fox News. I can decide for myself whether OBL is alive or dead, thank you very much.
- Cl1mh4224rd, on 12/31/2007, -1/+7> "Ok. What did she mean instead of 'murdered?'"
*sigh*
She names Omar Sheikh (Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh), who murdered DANIEL PEARL in 2002. He was arrested on February 12, 2002 by Pakistani police and has been in their custody ever since.
She misspoke. Period. - whyufail, on 12/31/2007, -0/+6"Osama bin Laden said the United States wants to create a national unity government in Iraq to control oil supplies, build military bases and dominate the region."
Ya know, alive or dead, he's actually pretty dead on there. - LordRedSnake, on 12/31/2007, -0/+6She absolutely did mean murdered, but she didn't mean Osama Bin Laden; she meant Daniel Pearl. She was talking about Omar Sheikh, who was implicated in the Daniel Pearl murder.
- yojiffyskippy, on 12/30/2007, -1/+6Very entertaining. A lot of diggers actually believe stuff like that. So don't be surprised if you make a lot of "friends" for that comment.
- pateo, on 12/31/2007, -0/+5Look out America! Bin Laden is coming to get you unless you buy as much worthless ***** as possible! Hurry up and consume or he'll appear in your room in the middle of the night and kill your kids with your HD TV.
- inactive, on 12/31/2007, -0/+5'Bin Laden also mentioned that he was looking forward to seeing the upcoming movie "Ocean's Eleven," starring George Clooney, then finished his statement with a demand for a line of shrubberies to be planted around his family's burial plot, but stipulated that he didn't want anything too fancy, or too expensive.'
- ByteGuerilla, on 12/31/2007, -1/+6Spot on. Nineteen Eighty-Four was meant to be a warning, not an instruction manual.
- ozydingo, on 12/31/2007, -0/+5Omar Sheikh, Daniel Pearl--I feel like it's a lost cause trying to convince anyone that this is the most plausible explanation. Something was said that allows them to go nuts and add some extra excitement into the usual monotony of web browsing, so they won't hear anything else of it.
It's actually depressing, seeing it taken so far so fervently. I mean I'm no fan of the current US administration, nor would I necessarily put something liek this past them, but come on, this isn't it, so stop pretending and listen to reason. - alwilson, on 12/30/2007, -5/+9Bin Laden is living in South America with Hitler, Elvis and Jim Morrison.
- SilentSpyder, on 12/30/2007, -6/+10I think Osama is dead but not because Bhutto said so.
- LucasKane, on 12/30/2007, -1/+5That might work if Bush himself would stop saying he didn't pay attention to them
- mweierophinney, on 12/31/2007, -0/+3I'd argue that they're not luring us into a socialist state so much as a fascist one.
- buckrogers1965, on 12/31/2007, -0/+3Osama died in Dec of 2001. He went to his death professing his innocence. It was only when the fake tapes started coming out that he was suddenly a bogey man claiming to have done it all himself.
In late 2001, he was on dialysis and would have died rather horribly because his kidneys were not working. Dialysis machines require pure water, clean power, and sterile conditions. He would have died from massive infections and renal failure if he tried to perform dialysis moving from cave to cave in Afghanistan.
Up until Dec of 2001 he had regularly given interviews and released provably real tapes on a regular basis. At that point in time he just stopped. Not one journalist has seen him in person since. Every tape released since then has been seriously flawed in many aspects and do not prove that he is currently alive. One tape that was claimed to be a recent recording of Osama had been released years earlier.
All intelligence agencies and police units have stopped the search for Bin-Laden and have reassigned all agents that were performing the search to other issues. The FBI does not list 9/11 on Osama's wanted poster, because they have no evidence that he had anything to do with the crime.
One of Bin-Laden's last interviews:
"I have already said that I am not involved in the 11 September attacks in the United States. As a Muslim, I try my best to avoid telling a lie. I had no knowledge of these attacks, nor do I consider the killing of innocent women, children and other humans as an appreciable act. Islam strictly forbids causing harm to innocent women, children and other people. Such a practice is forbidden even in the course of a battle. "
"The United States should try to trace the perpetrators of these attacks within itself; the people who are a part of the U.S. system, but are dissenting against it. Or those who are working for some other system; persons who want to make the present century as a century of conflict between Islam and Christianity so that their own civilization, nation, country, or ideology could survive."
- Osama Bin-Laden, 28 September 2001 - briansearles, on 12/30/2007, -1/+4Must have been one hell of a Christmas party.
- SysstemLord, on 12/31/2007, -0/+3You're right i think, he has been rotting for a long time, but nobody wants him dead, not Bush, nor Al Qaeda
- aztrozon, on 12/30/2007, -4/+7the cia would like you to believe he is still alive so we can continue a war against a terrorist threat that doesnt exist awar that is really about oil
- Squidly1, on 12/31/2007, -1/+4The point of him being alive or dead is actually moot. Pay attention to what some of the other radical clerics are saying - no need to spin squat - listen for yourself (I don't give two cents for what the US media says, I look for reports from elsewhere). Don't listen to Fox - else you'll be as deluded as half of the posters here.

- sesshin, on 12/31/2007, -1/+4Funny, because she just said back in October that he was still alive and needed to be hunted down.
http://www.boston.com/news/world/asia/articles/200 ...
Now why would she say two different things? Could it be that she really misspoke? - formergthing, on 12/31/2007, -0/+3A. You read Digg for actual news?
B. You can't decide if OBL is alive or dead, unless you have mind bullets. - obliviousfool, on 12/31/2007, -0/+2I wonder what Tim Osman thinks of all this.
- DestroyFascism, on 12/30/2007, -3/+5Hes been dead for years!
- avengingturnip, on 12/31/2007, -1/+3Video or it didn't happen.
Okay, if OBL is alive show us a video of him delivering one of his messages. It has to be moving video without stops where a voice over about current events have been added and it has to show him as he has aged since 2001. An audio message with some government official confirming it is OBL is not sufficient. Prove he is alive. - rhabd0mancer, on 12/30/2007, -7/+9Buried as inaccurate.
- inactive, on 12/31/2007, -0/+2You have left your ability for logical reasoning at the door, assuming you had it to begin with.
- vidorian, on 12/31/2007, -0/+2I'm sure some of the charges were trumped up. But the sales commission she took on the tractors sold to poor Pakistani farmers was pretty damning.
copy/paste
1990s Polish-made Ursus tractors scam, in which Benazir Bhutto was allegedly involved: “Benazir had launched the Awami Tractor Scheme for the welfare of poor farmers in Pakistan and allegedly received 7.15 percent commission in the purchase of tractors through their front men – Jens Schlegelmilch and Didier Plantin of Dargal SA – who received about 1.969 million dollars for supplying the Ursus tractors.” - dbass777, on 12/31/2007, -2/+4It seems that they have dusted off another of the LATE Bin Laden's inspirational tapes for his brainwashed and totally NON-Muslim followers. It really is a shame how Bin Laden and his followers continue to embarrass the religion they profess to follow. Fact is the more we see of these tapes without any clear reference to current events, further shows he is most likely not alive and the other losers continuing his simpleton organization are simply playing back the horoscope-esque tapes he recorded preceding his death. Seems his followers are just too stupid to realize this fact. I'll believe Bin Laden is alive when he puts out a tape with content less ambiguous than Nostradamus...I wouldn't recommend holding your breath on that one though.
- SeethisPass, on 12/30/2007, -5/+7You're talking over their heads. You have to point out that you are being sarcastic for them. ( sigh)
- smek2, on 12/31/2007, -0/+1Funny, the reuters article doesn't mention Bin Laden as a "Dead Man" or the "Media Group". There's a word for people misleading or inserting their own ideologies into legitimate news sources.
- gkiltz, on 12/31/2007, -0/+1Clearly, it DOES beg the question"How many people are there right now calling themselves 'Osama Bin Laden'?" It's inconceivable that these all came from the same individual! Also, a reasonable person can only conclude that someone with an ego THAT inflated is NOT going to allow themselves to be caught in a place called "Tora Bora!"
- travishenrichs, on 12/31/2007, -1/+2It's really irrelevant now - whether he's dead or alive. We had the change to grab him many times in the past and failed each time.
About a year ago I would've been the first to say Bin Laden is dead, but after listening to Robert Fisk (interviewed Bin Laden three times in the past & would've interviewed him after the 9/11 attacks had the bombings in Afghanistan not taken place at that time) and Michael Scheuer I don't think that's the case.
It's pretty funny though, how a veteran war correspondent and the foremost expert on Bin Laden, along with Bin Laden's own words, all reach the conclusion that our foreign policy was the reason for 9/11 rather than what most supporters of the war will tell you. - UAEW, on 12/31/2007, -0/+1www.dubai.us
- PhilLesh69, on 12/31/2007, -1/+2Whether or not Osama is alive is a silly argument.
Whether or not he is capable of issuing these neocon supportive missives is another question. -
