Dan Rather Slams Corporate News at Conference
truthout.org — Truth is truth regardless the source; and the truth is, you are not getting the whole story, or even much of the truth from mainstream media. So, if that is where you have been getting all your news, the information derived from this source is mostly misinformation, too often outright disinformation.

- abby11, on 06/09/2008, -4/+12I LOVE DAN RATHER!
- BigMommaLurka, on 06/09/2008, -0/+19It is past time to break up the media monopolies, and make no mistake - That is what they are.
- goodnrg, on 06/09/2008, -0/+7Good piece but, unfortunately, writing the MSM has had, and will have, little effect on their large corporate overlords. Although it's hard work, the way to get truth in media is by the guerilla approach to alternative sources that all us on Digg are familiar with. Yes, there are still some independent and courageous voices in the MSM, but the pressure from their corporate owners to homogenize, skew, and cheapen the news will only increase.

- Rolf58, on 06/09/2008, -0/+6In a nutshell:
But it is rare, now, to find a major news organization owned by an individual, someone who can say, in effect, "The buck stops here." The more likely motto now is: "The news stops... with making bucks." - marabout40, on 06/09/2008, -0/+7Another true journalist sticking it to Corp news media. - callingshots, on 06/09/2008, -0/+3Excellent read. Only time will tell if those in the media will grow some balls.

- zebco, on 06/09/2008, -0/+3I know this guy ***** up but he's been pretty damn frank and honest over the years. He was part of the news machine when it actually told partial truths. Now it's all just fallacy and propaganda.
I watched him the whole time I grew up and he always seemed sincere and genuine. Much better than these pseudo model airheads that get on there and read the latest 'newsfomercial' written by their advertisers to promote this, that or the other thing.
News is embarrassing on every network these days. It's so easy to see that it's nothing more than one big infomercial for whatever interests they're tied to.- swrostmore, on 06/09/2008, -0/+2Yeah, he "***** up" by reporting the truth about Bush's national guard "service," and was rewarded for performing the function of an independent journalist by being blacklisted by our corporate overlords.
