- inactive, on 11/25/2008, -29/+195Death penalty now.
- BeShirtHappy, on 11/25/2008, -2/+112This made my stomach turn. I just don't understand this...
- the2989, on 11/25/2008, -2/+80"The father, who cannot be named for legal reasons banning the identification of his victims and the surviving children, pleaded guilty Tuesday at Sheffield Crown Court, northern England, and was sentenced to serve 25 life sentences to run concurrently."
Justice has been served, he has to rot in jail for the rest of his life, and there's nothing he can do about it. I can't imagine him being treated well by fellow inmates, either. Death penalty would be nice, but that'd give him the easy way out, and in the long run, death penalty always costs more than life in prison.
Also, it's probably good that he won't be identified, as it will save the world media a ton of money that could be used for better reasons (although, I kind of doubt the "better" part, they'll probably just report more gruesome stories since those are the kind that rake in the money). - seltaeb4, on 11/26/2008, -19/+80Headline: "Dad raped daughters for 27 years"
Wow. That's got to be some sort of endurance record.
[I know, I'm going to hell...] - normlsparky, on 11/26/2008, -2/+57If this were a US case, they could just put him in with the general prison population. He wouldn't last long. Child molesters are the lowest form of prison life.
- inactive, on 11/26/2008, -2/+44*hurls*
That is just horrific. Absolutely horrific. - purseonality, on 11/26/2008, -1/+40No mention of mom...wonder if she's around anywhere.
Ugh, those poor women. - BlackPawn, on 11/26/2008, -2/+35IMO the Death Penalty isn't as bad as life in prison. A quick death is too soft of a punishment for someone like that. Letting him rot in a prison cell for the rest of his life, getting the worst treatment prison can offer (as normlsparky put it, child molesters the lowest form of prison life) still isn't enough punishment for what this guy deserves...
- usbserial, on 11/26/2008, -3/+35"keep coming from"
it's 2 stories.
Why do you have to bring countries into this? Horrible things happen in every country, even "civilized" ones. Cases like this are not an indicator for the rest of the country. - dithyrambica, on 11/26/2008, -4/+34I say castration is in order.
And not the gentle chemical kind.
Something a little more demeaning and humiliating. - inactive, on 11/25/2008, -0/+28Nor would most normal people.
- Jforsyth89, on 11/26/2008, -1/+29There is no death penalty in the UK. However, even if it happened in America it is rather possible that the man would die of old age before he was finally executed.
- Mihey, on 11/26/2008, -6/+31"Thou shall not kill."
More fitting punishment would be to have him raped daily by fatties suffering from numerous skin diseases. - gcnaddict, on 11/26/2008, -0/+24"I don't see the difference."
25 concurrent sentences mean 25 successful appeals to get out instead of just one or 24. - Navicerts, on 11/26/2008, -2/+24Good point, although now I'm more confused. Why not just give him I dunno, 3.2 trillion "concurrent" life sentences. I don't see the difference.
- stachesnmullets, on 11/26/2008, -1/+23That is so ***** up.
- Hetman, on 11/26/2008, -16/+38Europeans always seem to act like America is a bunch of inbred hicks. Yet stories like this keep comming from the EU.
- masterkenobi, on 11/26/2008, -1/+22I don't think he deserves a "quick way out". I say find a way for him to stay alive to carry out all 25 back-to-back life sentences.
And also have Butters shoot him in the dick. - groo68, on 11/26/2008, -1/+22I think a life sentence in prison where all the inmates know you're a rapist is worse than death.
- kdamp, on 11/26/2008, -4/+24True. But we still are inbred hicks.
- gilfoy, on 11/26/2008, -2/+20"Concurrent" not "consecutive".
- inactive, on 11/26/2008, -19/+36Someone needs to un-pussify the Brits and so they can f*cking beat this guy to death on international TV.
No sympathy for this piece of trash. Kill him and send him to hell. - spunkmyer, on 11/26/2008, -3/+20maybe when you grow up and get out of mommies basement things like this may upset you.
- normlsparky, on 11/26/2008, -1/+18He will be living a nightmare once he hits prison.
- inactive, on 11/26/2008, -2/+19That's not much of an incentive for him to leave the basement, though.
- Kypt, on 11/26/2008, -8/+25Yeah dude, there's funny kind of wrong and then there's just wrong...
- GrmRpr3000, on 11/26/2008, -1/+18All capital punishment in England, even for treason, was stopped in 1998, there is now no crime that carries the punishment of death.
- IphtashuFitz, on 11/26/2008, -0/+1527 years of prison rape would be much more appropriate, IMHO.
- pintomp3, on 11/26/2008, -2/+16death by prison rape.
- corryface, on 11/26/2008, -2/+15please explain how in the ***** is that the dream??
- unfilterthought, on 11/26/2008, -2/+15:( This makes me a sad panda.
- IphtashuFitz, on 11/26/2008, -0/+12Dump him in the most violent prison they can and let all the prisoners know what he did. Hopefully they'll rape him for 27 years so he can know firsthand what the last 27 years was like from the perspective of his daughters.
- AirRaven, on 11/26/2008, -0/+12Pfft.
No real Englishman would settle for anything less than Earl Grey, peasant. - usbserial, on 11/26/2008, -5/+17Yeah pedobear raping children for 27 years. That's a real knee-slapper. You are so clever. Good work. You should feel good about yourself.
- Navicerts, on 11/26/2008, -2/+14"The judge said the minimum term the 56-year-old rapist should serve in jail should be 19½ years."
So thats what 25 back to back LIFE sentences add up to, someone tell that judge hes doing it wrong. - centerblack, on 11/26/2008, -1/+13She couldn't do anything about it? I'm confused. Was there a chain physically restricting her from going from help? Was she tied to a post for 27 years?
If she had the ability to move freely then she should have gotten help and ended this 26.99999999999 years ago. - wheresmysnack, on 11/26/2008, -0/+12High school with bars? As a correctional officer all I can say is BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
- IphtashuFitz, on 11/26/2008, -1/+12One would hope that in this case the prison population would keep him alive and make sure he suffered for 27 years just like he made his daughters suffer.
- flashboy131, on 11/26/2008, -0/+11Imagine the mental damage the girls suffered for so long.
- tgc1, on 11/26/2008, -1/+12You know how they say there are things worse than death? I think that's one of them. I feel sorry for those kids. That is just unbelievable. What makes this completely mind blowing is that this is the SECOND such incident to be reported. This is type of thing i'd hope I never hear about in my lifetime. But to hear it twice in less than 1 year... that's just... I don't even have the words. Reading that report almost made me sick.
- wheresmysnack, on 11/26/2008, -0/+11I'm saying that when I was in high school, I never saw a guy get stabbed 7 times in the neck with a rusty nail for telling on another student. I've seen an inmate stab 2 other inmates, one simply for standing next to the other. My camp is considered one of the quieter ones in the area.
Maybe the minimum security or private camps are like "High School", but those aren't where the majority of convicts are housed. - inactive, on 11/26/2008, -0/+11That turned out just awful.
- Bith8654, on 11/26/2008, -1/+12@corryface: I don't know how the death penalty works in other countries, but in America it costs a lot more to kill them than it does to give them life in prison.
- krellor, on 11/26/2008, -3/+14If it is wrong to kill, it is always wrong to kill. No exceptions. What he did was horrible, but an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind. Lets not let our moral standards lower to be on par with those who do wrong.
- EggAndMuffin, on 11/26/2008, -11/+21Slow-torture-death-penalty now.
- DeQuinceysDiet, on 11/26/2008, -4/+14"Despite visiting hospitals and meeting with social workers over the 27 years of abuse, no investigation was launched into the family"
not even the mutilple children with birth defects led to anyone taking a closer look? Did they live on an island? And don't be a smartass yes we know England is an island. I meant metaphorically. No one takes notice of the family with the young women with the terrified eyes and the multiple children with deformities? Just a horrible indictment of our dumb species. - borez, on 11/26/2008, -1/+11Yep, read the story in the British press yesterday. She was around, but so scared ***** she couldn't do anything about it.
- theodenking, on 11/26/2008, -0/+10@neutronphaser
Nope. Capital punishment was completely abolished for the last few crimes, including treason, in 1998.
Nor can it be restored since Parliament ratified the 13th Protocol of the European Convention on Human Rights - flashboy131, on 11/26/2008, -1/+10Well I thought prisoners treat child rapists very brutally because alot of the prisoners themselves were mistreated themselves growing up. So whatever time he gets will not be easy at all.
