D.C. rejects Heller’s gun permit application
wusa9.com — District residents can start registering their guns today. But at least one very high profile application was already rejected. Dick Heller is the man who brought the lawsuit against the District's 32-year-old ban on handguns. He was among the first in line Thursday morning to apply for a handgun permit. But when he tried to register his. . .

What!? Bottom loading guns? All semi-automatic handguns load through the bottom.- Minarchian, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2They claim that any weapon that holds 12 or more rounds are "machine guns".
Ya I know, it's beyond common sense. But since when are the gun grabbers known for common sense? - Cryptocracy, on 08/17/2008, -0/+1DC is full of a bunch of socialist bottom-feeders.

Sheesh, brings up all sorts of questions:
What exactly about the process takes "weeks or months"?
At what point do these restrictions become "unreasonable"?
What does the Supreme Court do when DC's obviously flagrantly disregarding the ruling of the Supreme Court? - PolishLogic, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2And so it begins.....
DC is going to do their damnedest to try and reject every single permit application. - Christianptriot, on 07/19/2008, -0/+2Since when is "bottom-loading" a requirement of a machine gun? MOST military machine guns load from the side, so I guess an M60 is legal in DC, but an MP5 is not? More stupidity and anti-gun clamor from within the silly-circle around our nation's capitol.
and WHY is their gun registration in the first place? The Police in DC admit that of the 43,000 guns they initially registered in 1973 when the complete ban went into effect, they cannot account for almost 38,000 of them. Registration has NOT stopped a single crime - prevented a single crime - SOLVED a single crime, and apparently they cannot find more than 75% of those guns anyway.
Registration is not about safety or crime prevention - it is about the government KNOWING where the guns are so they can confiscate them to prevent the subjects from revolting against the government.
Same thing happened in Kalifornia a few years ago: people had to register their AK-47 and similar military-style firearms. Within 18 months they were all banned and the cops knew where to go to find them.
NEVER register your guns. It is not a privilege, like owning a car - it is a RIGHt that the government cannot arbitrarily deny or infringe.
