- nofunnyshtuff, on 01/31/2008, -40/+127No sir - if you were to say something targeting the Jewish nation, you would be called anti-semitic. The bottom line is that while Israel is traditionally the Jewish home (and an home I proud to live in), it is a political entity. However, the international pressure that Israel faces (and make no mistake, it does face pressure) makes it an emasculated political entity. Allow me to elaborate.
Yes, Israel has the strongest army in the Middle East. Yes, this army protects a powerful economy, manifested in both the booming hi-tech market and the strengthening Shekel. However, these advantages are moot when Israel in incapable of using them. Does Sderot mean anything to you? The threat from Gaza Strip has become very real since a UNILATERAL Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip - thats right, we kicked out own citizens out of homes they have lived in (no international complaints were heard). This gesture of willingness to sacrifice territory and pride was returned with...rockets. An average of 6 mortars lands in Israeli territory. An average of 4 rockets land in Israeli territory. Rockets fired intentionally at civilians have more than 130,000 people in range. The rockets are smuggled in from Egypt - as multiple UN reports have shown.
The Hamas government's hostile takeover on June 15th, 2007, saw the international community present three terms to Hamas - Recognize Israel as a state, agree to the terms that the PA signed to and act against terror. They refuse and continue to attack Israel. How would you suggest Israel deal with that? We still provide them with 60% of their fuel. Read that again. A hostile state entity shoots at Israeli citizens and is outraged when we don't provide them with fuel. We have the strength to get in their and decimate them. But we stand back because morals guide our behavior.
Get educated. - insurgente, on 01/31/2008, -91/+173***** Israel. Now call me anti-semitic.
- ozymandias2012, on 01/31/2008, -18/+95Fire some more rockets at Israel, that should help the situation.
- GrandmaSheila, on 01/31/2008, -79/+154This is a war crime, and I say ***** Israel too, and I'm no antisemite. The US backing up this latest atrocity on the part stains all of us with the blood of these innocent people, but the MSM is silent. I'd say call Congress but that's just habit, forgetting it doesn't exist anymore
- Kythas, on 01/31/2008, -31/+104If the Palestinian people begin to take responsibility, kick out Hamas and Fatah, and form a rational government that desires peace with its neighbor, then this wouldn't happen. Israel has repeatedly offered territory for peace and the formation of a Palestinian state, and these proposals have been rejected.
These groups continue to attack Israel and kill Israeli citizens. A government's first priority is the protection of its citizens and its national soverignty. - DCGaymer, on 01/31/2008, -20/+91Maybe it's time for Gaza to get it's sh*t together.
- meteors, on 01/31/2008, -17/+80I've been in wartime Palestine. It's not pretty. But, they could have a great life if they could just stop killing Israelis.
If they put half as much energy into peacemaking as they put into killing and destroying, there could be peace. - arjie, on 01/31/2008, -33/+90I always find it amazing to see that a people who suffered so much find it so easy to force suffering upon others. One would think they would have more compassion for their fellow man.
- govsucks, on 01/31/2008, -13/+68Less time shooting rockets at jewish people, more time spent on a sewer system of their own = less ***** in the streets.
- InspectorGadget, on 01/31/2008, -15/+68Anybody that backs groups that intentionally target schoolbuses full of children is more than welcome to eat their own *****. I say this not as a great fan of Israeli policies but if you shoot rockets at civilians you deserve to die of a raging Ebola infection.
- morningmatters, on 01/31/2008, -31/+77Collective punishment will only generate more hatred, this is how you create a new generation of Hamas zealots.
- Ninh, on 01/31/2008, -25/+68So much for the governing skills of Hamas. Happy hipwading!
- Mollarom, on 01/31/2008, -14/+57Tragic, yes, but these are the people who voted a terrorist group into power, too. And now that Hamas essentially rules Gaza, they're seeing the consequences of their decision. No international aid is going to come in because of the stigma of repeated and cowardly suicide bombing campaigns. You want to be ruled by terrorists, go ahead. Hope you enjoy the smell. God bless Democracy.
- cheesejaguar, on 01/31/2008, -13/+55The Palestinians want Gaza to be their own state... but they aren't self sufficient even as the largest recipient of foreign aid in modern history? Don't get me wrong, this is a tragedy... but seriously is Israel supposed to come in and wipe the Palestinians' asses after they shoot rockets into Israel daily? Don't listen to the propaganda, this is not a zero sum game: you can be Pro-Palestinian and Pro-Israeli. Both sides have a right to self determination and the Palestinians aren't helping themselves right now. Look at how much better things are in the West Bank right now! If the Gaza strip had re-elected the PA and not Hamas, we wouldn't have this problem.
- inactive, on 01/31/2008, -22/+62Let us examine the truths here:
Arab "Palestinian?" with Flag of "Palestine?"1) There never was a Palestinian state or a Palestinian nation. There are no Palestinian people, per se. Rather, these are Arabs living in a region that historically has been called many things, including "Palestine."
2) Israel did not go to war against a Palestinian state and occupy its land. Rather, Israel was attacked by six Arab countries at once. She defended herself, defeated her attackers, and won the so-called territories, not from the Palestinians, but from Jordan and Egypt.
3) Jerusalem was never the capital of any state but Israel. It was certainly never the capital of a country that never existed. Why should the Palestinians get any part of it? Because they want it? Because they have terrorists?
4) Jerusalem, under the current Israeli control, is a free and open city. Israel, as a democracy, guarantees freedom of religion within its borders. Contrast this fact with areas that have come under Palestinian occupation. What percentage of Christians have left in recent years because they cannot stand the harassment and persecution?
5) Most Arabs living in Palestine today are not indigenous to the region. It was not until after the Jews had changed deserts and swamps into a productive and thriving land that the Arabs started migrating there. Arafat himself was born and raised in Cairo, Egypt. Did you know that?
The belief that giving the Palestinians a state will bring peace is a delusion. The truth is that they want it all. The short-term goal is a state consisting of the West Bank and Gaza. The long-term goal is a state which includes all of "historical Palestine," including Jordan. - nullcodes, on 01/31/2008, -10/+47Seriously, the Palestinian people need to be able to overthrow Hamas. Hamas is deliberately preventing the formation of the Palestinian state and even worse perpetuating a violent situation. Part of the reason Hamas is preventing it is because they don't want PA to get the credit. Israel isn't going anywhere, so they better learn to deal with it. Better to have a small unisolated state where people can get education, jobs, be respected and welcome in other countries etc. than live in a constant state of violence and *****. People in Gaza who don't support Hamas are suffering the most due to active persecution.
- Bodhinature, on 01/31/2008, -21/+54Actually, assuming he is American, his tax dollars pay for Israel's brutal occupation of Palestine, so he has a lot to say about it.
- jetblackz4, on 01/31/2008, -21/+52Finally an intelligent comment by someone who actually knows the situation over there. Very well put and thank you for explaining this to people who are quick to judge and blame Israel for all the problems. It is an ugly situation no country wants to be in but they do not have a choice.
- nepawoods, on 01/31/2008, -31/+61".What is happening in Palestine is Cultural Genocide, an entire people wiped off the map only to become an exile in a foreign country to escape war and it's oppressing conditions."
What a crock of *****. It's not genocide, because there is no ethnic group called "Palestinians". They are people ALREADY EXILED, from Egypt, Jordan, Syria, etc, to the foreign country Israel, not to escape war, but to wage it. This is all calculated. The combined Arab nations repeatedly tried to wage conventional war against Israel, and repeatedly achieved spectacular humiliating failure. So they invented the myth of a "Palestinian people" - people that from the viewpoint of the Arab nations they originated from, are human refuse - but who could now be made useful, by brainwashing them to believe they have a "Palestinian" identity, and that it'd be nice for their children to splatter their carcasses across the desert in suicide bombings.
"The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity." --- Zuheir Mohsen, a "Palestinian" PLO leader ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zuheir_Mohsen )
See how the brainwashing is done: http://www.pmw.org.il/tv.html - coldkodiak, on 01/31/2008, -8/+39hey look Gaza has had sewage problems for more than a year because Hamas won't do *****, and there's too many people.
http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/03/27/africa/M ...
" Four dead, thousands evacuated in Gaza sewage flood The Associated PressPublished: March 27, 2007 UMM NASER, Gaza Strip: A huge sewage reservoir in the northern Gaza Strip collapsed Tuesday, killing five people in a frothing cascade of waste and mud that swamped a village and highlighted the desperate need to upgrade Gaza's overloaded, outdated infrastructure." note march 2007. Long before any seige of Gaza. - jetblackz4, on 01/31/2008, -10/+39They want to destroy Israel yet they can not survive without them and Egypt wants to have no part of their own people.
- llbbl, on 01/31/2008, -4/+32If i were to say something, it would be anti-septic.
they need a better sewer system - FLUX, on 01/31/2008, -9/+35hmm ya think if the idiots would stop the fools from shooting rockets into Israel they might not be sealed in to the ***** hole they have made for them selves by never committing to peace and admitting that Israel has a right to exist
But then that might be the smart thing to do instead of staging scenes for the press and blowing up barriers that Egypt put in place to keep them out of their country because no one wants them they are whiny trouble makers - dubrovins, on 01/31/2008, -18/+43the fact is that palestinian tribe were given ample opportunities to have their own state and live like humans. THEY TURNED IT DOWN! time after time, they turned their backs to israel which has been supporting them even as they were firing rockets. enough is enough!
- nepawoods, on 01/31/2008, -12/+36They've always had a choice, and still have it. They choose Hamas. They chose to brainwash their children to hate Jews: http://www.pmw.org.il/tv.html The ***** they're wading in won't disappear overnight (hey - why isn't Egypt helping?), but it will clear up, and they'll have the same choice they've had thousands of times before: wallow in ***** and hatred, or become civilized and reject Hamas and violence in general.
- swrostmore, on 01/31/2008, -17/+41[Reported by Diggers as Ideologically Inconvenient]
- bizkit00, on 01/31/2008, -0/+241789 - Thomas Jefferson brings the first macaroni machine to the United States.
(and the French Revolution) - shlinton, on 01/31/2008, -5/+29So where's the ***** street? All I saw was a kid in a hospital, that could have been anywhere.
- lionpirate, on 01/31/2008, -8/+31Weren't the streets always flowing with *****?
- magnoliasltd, on 01/31/2008, -71/+93What the ***** does anti-Semitic have to do with anything. All it is a excuse for the Israel Govt to continue it's genocide of the Palestine's.This has nothing to do with hatred towards Israel civilians but against the Israeli Govt that is responsible for all the chaos around the world. To cover up their calculating murderous deeds they use the holocaust as an excuse to criticize all opponents of the Israel elites. What is happening in Palestine is Cultural Genocide, an entire people wiped off the map only to become an exile in a foreign country to escape war and it's oppressing conditions.
- agisten, on 01/31/2008, -10/+32No Money? International communities and Red cross dumped billions their way and guess where ended up. Lets just say lack of sewer didn't interrupted DAILY multiple missiles launches at Israeli cities.
- nullcodes, on 01/31/2008, -23/+44Get rid of Hamas. Problem solved. I don't see the PA areas having this problem.
Send my Nobel in the mail. - molecool, on 01/31/2008, -15/+36ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? The US is pumping billions into Israel each year - and on top of that are a massive arms sales.
- bobablob, on 01/31/2008, -7/+27Actually, the surrounding nations have risen up, repeatedly, and Israel has kicked their ass.
- JigoroKano, on 01/31/2008, -12/+32We give them aid and weaponry and instead of stopping or even cutting back, we increase our support. U.S.'s backing is implicit.
- dcshiderly, on 01/31/2008, -19/+39Wasn't Gaza a section of land taken from Egypt after they attacked Israel in the late 1960's? If they didn't want an occupation, they should have left well enough alone.
- ozymandias2012, on 01/31/2008, -5/+24Listen...if I were the leader of Israel I would have never given up control of Gaza in the first place. Instead of moving the two sides closer to peace it hardened Hamas's resolve and validated their strategy of rocket attacks and suicide bombs. There is absolutely no point in Israel giving up anything else since the Palestinians won't EVER be satisfied until every Jew is driven from the area now. Of course Israel can be very brutal with them, which also helps Hamas out a lot. The entire situation is, for lack of a better word, *****.
- inactive, on 01/31/2008, -12/+30send in al gore to harness the ***** power..go green:)
- nepawoods, on 01/31/2008, -42/+59Live in *****, or live in peace - which will they choose?
- jakdracula, on 01/31/2008, -5/+22So - they 'elect' a terrorist government, and we're all wondering why they live in *****?
- bkleynbok, on 01/31/2008, -2/+19To clarify couple of issues. There never was a nation of Palestine. In all history there were no Palestinians. Palestine or Phelistine is a piece of land. When Israel was attacked by all arab nations, and not by Al-Qassam rockets, but by regular army or all Arab states, Israel retaliated. During 7 day war and the war before that, Israel advanced to Egypt's border and Sirian border. The Israel was only stopped by the threat of force from US and European nations, mostly Great Britain. Israel won. Just keep telling yourself that every time someone brings questions of fairness. As a winner Israel got Golan heights, and the so called Gaza strip as well as the West Bank. So called Oslo peace accords divided some territories which Israel annexed during the war. Golan heights serves as a strategic point since it overlooks Sirian border. West Bank and Gaza strip is so called buffer zone with Egypt. No how come Hamas keeps making those rockets when there is no food or electricity in Gaza? Both Egypt and Sirya keep providing Hamas with logistic and financial support. Now Israel is the only state I know which provides electricity, medical assistance and supplies, food and purefied water to the area which shells that state with rocket fire. No one wants Palestinians. No Arab nation in the world would accept them into their country.
- oderdigg, on 01/31/2008, -6/+23Since when you are in charge of stating the rights of other people? I believe people in the US have the right to freedom of speech and Canadians have the right to freedom of expression. What country do you live in that dictates what people have the 'right' to do?
***** I hate people like you. - zanzzz, on 01/31/2008, -2/+19For those who excoriate Israel for its actions can Palestinians accept any responsibility for their situation? Years of intransigence, corruption, terrorism, and electing a dysfunctional government are to be blamed on Israel? If Israel agreed to move every Jew to the North Pole and give every Palestinian family a million dollars and a deed to a house they would find a reason to not accept the deal. Palestinians are fundamentally incapable of acting in their on best interests because of meddling by other Arab countries. There is much blame to spread around here, not just to Israel's doorstep.
- Edan25, on 01/31/2008, -5/+22If rockets flew constantly into your city, would you do just nothing about it?
Because that's what Israel had been doing so far. It couldn't be this way forever.
At some point, a country has to "ignore" innocent people to defend itself. Those rockets aren't acceptable. - neocognitism, on 01/31/2008, -60/+76If you say this is a war crime, then the antigentilists respond with "but they're shooting rockets"
But in fact, people in a state of occupation are ALLOWED to fight back, under INTERNATIONAL LAW.
It's the collective punishment that is not only against international law, but is legally a WAR CRIME, and legally meets the definition of genocide in the 1948 accords - Tanktunker, on 01/31/2008, -3/+19Not to mention that they KEEP ***** SHOOTING UN AID WORKERS.
I mean I would understand (kind of) if they shot Israeli aid workers, but what the hell did the UN guys ever do to them except for vaccinate their children and feed them? - govsucks, on 01/31/2008, -2/+18You keep throwing rocks at my house and I'm gonna keep coming out and kicking your ass you clown.
- freezeout, on 01/31/2008, -2/+18hmm lets see... spend money on infrastructure or spend money on rockets... I think I'll go with rockets...wtf?! now I live in *****..
- Bodhinature, on 01/31/2008, -4/+19Arabic speaking Jews and Christians call God "Allah." Its like saying Spaniards don't worship the true god because they call their god "Dios." You are a moron.
