Cuban Missile Crisis 2: The Electric Bugaloo!
breitbart.com — The newspaper Iszvestia reports that Russia may start regular flights by long-range bombers to Cuba in response to US plans to install a missile defense system in eastern Europe. "I think we should stand strong and indicate that is something that crosses a threshold, crosses a red line for the United States of America" said USAF Gen Norton Schwartz

- fwelch, on 07/22/2008, -1/+11Shades of the cold war back in the 50's and 60's. Now if Obama is in control this should be very interesting to say the least. I mean on the job training up front and no military back ground.
I wonder what President John F. Kennedy if alive give on pointers to Obama. Ummm, Obama would listen but with those ears pointers would go into out of. - IRPro, on 07/23/2008, -2/+9It's a compelling scenario should Russia do this (or even hint at doing it). Russia is by no means capable of pursuing a war with the EU, let alone the United States.. but they have an absolute ability to cause havoc with us.
Should we act to stop a Cuba armament, Russia may very well counter with a strong military backing of Tehran, Another aggressive stance towards it's old states, etc. - Mahstah, on 07/23/2008, -2/+10The comments at Breitbart say it all about Obama and what he would do about this.
- TYRONEBR549, on 07/23/2008, -1/+5This is so stupid. What do they think they will accomplish by this? This will just provoke a whole lot of trouble for Russia.
- RRJackson, on 07/23/2008, -1/+6Hey, people keep comparing Obama to Kennedy. Kennedy's gross incompetence nearly got us into a nuclear war with the Soviets. I guess Obama can finish the job. "Mebbe if'n we send 'em flowers they'll be our buddies?"
- PolishLogic, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4I wonder if it will be as overblown by the press as the original Cuban missile "crisis". Where both sides were in constant communications with each other to try and figure out the best way to both back down, all while making it look like they beat the other side.
- Ruler4you, on 07/23/2008, -2/+4Big deal. Russia isn't afraid of our congress. Hell, congress can't even act to help the citizens of their own nation in a real crisis right now. You think Russia is worried over empty rhetoric? With a 9% approval rating Congress can't pull it's own derelict ass out of the way.
I wouldn't believe anything the House or Senate says. These guys aren't doing the business of the nation and they aren't doing the business of the American people. What they are doing is looking out for themselves. It is an election year... - tisk, on 07/23/2008, -2/+2How about this article from the AP?

Has anyone seen Red Dawn? - kemojr, on 07/25/2008, -0/+0The main advantage Russia has, being a dictatorship, is the ability to formulate specific policies to deal directly with their problems and global situations. The United States conversly, being a democracy, has gotten caught up in a deadlock caused by partisan politics and is paralyzed into inaction. In the meanwhile, Russia is aligning with Iran, Venezuela and Cuba, et al, in an effort to eventually strangle us strategically. If we do not act now to solve our energy problems we will eventually be blackmailed into cowtowing to our enemys will. We do not have many patriots leading this country. Too many self serving ego maniacs in the Congress to save this republic. This nation must humble itself before Almighty God and submit to Him and I just don't see that happening. Please pray for our nation.
