- DaDrake, on 06/24/2008, -1/+14"My mother worked at the World Trade Centre," he said, explaining she had made it out that morning before the towers crumbled. Despite the fact that terrorists had almost killed his mother, "about six or seven days (after 9/11) that's when I decided it was time to go to Afghanistan and fight," he said.
***** ... this world is filled with people wanting to be important, wanting to find some cause, wanting to be remembered in history. Why don't they take on something like.... world hunger, curing HIV, rebuilding homes, helping the homeless, etc than blowing ***** people up. - davidhallstrom, on 06/23/2008, -0/+12Interesting post. Thank you.
- FishHammer, on 06/24/2008, -6/+16Am I the only one who read the headline as "Clown claims trans-Atlantic terrorism conspiracy" before double-taking and re-reading it?
- Wargalas, on 06/24/2008, -0/+10Not that I doubt you, but where did you get that information? I don't see it anywhere in the article. Maybe I'm blind.
- pintomp3, on 06/24/2008, -0/+7"What has America come to that it takes advice from a clown? " we just elect them.
- MarianaPeyton, on 06/24/2008, -0/+6He is definately going down.
- funklor, on 06/24/2008, -1/+7Try to avoid linking to the Globe and Mail. The stories are only available for a few days, then locked up unless you're a subscriber. A bitch if you want particular references. This is true of many other sites too, you can almost always find a decent alternative that has public archives.
- Beanbones, on 06/24/2008, -0/+5Blowing people up is a much more feasible goal for the average person than creating a breakthrough achievement in economy, biology, architecture, mathematics, or natural science. Not everyone can be the next Hawking, but it doesn't take all that much to be the next Custer.
Whether or not that's a good thing is still up for debate, I guess. - Daedalus81, on 06/24/2008, -0/+4I am reminded of a quote, but i don't remember who it is from or if I have it completely correct.
"A young man wants to die for a cause. An old man wants to live humbly for one." - CyphreDias, on 06/24/2008, -4/+8This article is government propaganda. You would be wise to realize that terrorism is a tactic/strategy and not an enemy. Just like one can never defeat poverty or hunger or ignorance; one can never defeat terrorism. Terrorism is a belief/idea. An idea can not be killed. Endless war on an enemy that can not be killed works nicely for those who benefit from endless war on an enemy who, in theory, could be anyone. The war on terrorism is really a war on civil liberties and a war on freedom.
- Tribis, on 06/24/2008, -0/+3I almost dugg it, till I noticed it said "crown" instead of "clown".
- inactive, on 06/24/2008, -1/+4"with an extraordinarily detailed prosecution statement"
if its the first guy charged under a new law i would up they would be very detailed and have a very very solid case. just so the new law can stand (or be struck down) with some authority - inactive, on 06/23/2008, -9/+12This guy was a CIA asset. No wonder.
- BoneStamp, on 06/24/2008, -1/+3I had to read it three times before I read it properly, and I'm familiar with the term.
- Beanbones, on 06/24/2008, -1/+3Ha, I totally did!
- CyphreDias, on 06/24/2008, -0/+2Wargalas... are you Cent-comm? Big brother is watching!!!
- sockpuppets, on 06/24/2008, -3/+5Do cannibals think clowns taste funny?
- pitlord, on 06/24/2008, -0/+2I don't see how you can blame the Whitehouse for a war that was declared decades ago by radical Muslim extremists. There have been more than one declaration of war against America and western countries from Islamic terrorists. They declare war several times a week over there.
-_-
Hey, they even used the same language you do, they said they would "consume" our nation too? You guys have a lot in common. Why don't you go to Afghanistan and ask the Taliban to take you in? - FallOutBoyTonto, on 06/24/2008, -0/+2Thank you, I did not know that! :)
- sgtpppr, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1People are fueled by vengeance and the media/gov't has taught everyone that dying for some 'cause' automatically makes you a hero. You'd think a person could do more alive than dead, but whatever.
- sgtpppr, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1Seriously? Are you saying they should just convict people without a trial or evidence?
- inactive, on 06/24/2008, -2/+3Your mom is widespread on terrorism.
- BillE3, on 06/29/2008, -0/+1Let them blow themselves up, then we can be positive they are a terrorist and it solves any prosecution problems. Everyone that claims they do not exist can stand around and watch.
- sanman, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1he a relative of yours, by chance?
- Tribis, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1The cure for HIV is $100,000 worth of cash, shot directly into the bloodstream.
- BillE3, on 06/29/2008, -0/+1Your mom is widespread for the terrorists
- gullevek, on 06/25/2008, -0/+1Me too. I guess we are so sick of this whole conspiracy ***** we just read it in a funny way in our subconscious mind.
- Beanbones, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1Wait, wouldn't that also make you "an hero"?
- CyphreDias, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1TheBaron2... Are we dropping bombs on women and children in order to fight our "war on murder?" Would it make sense to drop bombs on civilians in order to fight your proposed war on murder?
If a poor man sets off a bomb against a military target, it is called terrorism. When a superpower drops a bigger bomb on a neighborhood it is called "spreading freedom." Hmmmm!
More people die every year from bad reactions to aspirin then die from terrorism. How about a little perspective.
I'm not opposed to letting America play chess on the grand chessboard in the interest of maintaining America's safety and standard of living. My concern is that this war is part of an agenda to weaken the United States. We are being weakened financially, militarily, economically and our reputation is being dragged through the mud by leaders who answer to Israel and the queen. This war is not in America's best interest. Free-trade is not in the interest of The United States or the rest of the world. It is dragging us all down to the level of China. I don't know about you, but I don't want to compete against slaves for a wage and working conditions. Forget what you've learned from Faux News and start thinking for yourself. - inactive, on 06/25/2008, -0/+0No, but we're both Canadian.
Only difference, I would know better than to plan a terrorist attack from my computer at work, especially when that work computer he used was a government computer at the Department of Foreign Affairs.
He's F*ed - RabbidBunny, on 06/24/2008, -8/+8Did anyone else read Crown as Clown?
- ATLien74, on 06/24/2008, -1/+1Yes, I did. :-) Would have been a much more interesting article too.
- Jlaugh, on 06/24/2008, -1/+1Well there was that bombing in New York at the Army recruiting center. However lack of terrorist activity in the US has not much to do with which politician is in charge at the moment. It has has more to do with lack of terrorists trying to blow ***** up. There's still nothing stopping terrorists from committing bombings, the boarder is wide open. We still have all sorts of violence in America.
- inactive, on 06/24/2008, -1/+1Actually, not only is he weak on terrorism, but his planned (soon to be "failed" ) policies
not only enable but encourage further attacks against the US.
Intellectual Honesty Quiz:
Exactly how many attacks have occurred on US soil since 9/11? And, more importantly, what is the reason? - fuzzmeister, on 06/24/2008, -1/+1Every group of people has its crazies, and you can't reflect their actions upon that of the whole group.
- tomasII, on 06/24/2008, -1/+1I disagree with you about terrorism. Terrorism is not a belief or idea. It may be a means to an end but terrorism itself is not a belief. I seriously doubt that flying a jet into a building filled with people from all over the world has had the effect that the sick minds who conceived it thought it would.
However, tt might just be the name though. But political correctness prevents one from saying that the war is against radical Islam. It may be possible to kill enough of those fools that other fools who share in those beliefs will crawl back under their rocks and go away. Witness what is happening in Iraq....the terrorists are being defeated and they are fading away, like the cowards that they are. - thebaron2, on 06/24/2008, -1/+1Murder is also a tactic/strategy and not an enemy - should we give up the "war on murder" and stop prosecuting those who we believe to be guilty of the act because murder will always exist?
I'm sorry, but when a guy is caught making bombs and funding overseas operatives for the purpose of killing non-combatants en masse, I think we should go after the guy.
Using your logic we should stop investigating and prosecuting EVERYONE. I mean no matter how many thieves are sent to jail, people will always still steal. There will always be rapists, child pornographers, murderers, and thieves. Just because we can't wipe out the idea of killing someone doesn't mean we should give up trying to punish those who actually employ that tactic. - xxpor, on 06/24/2008, -1/+1yea, only blow people who arent ***** up.
- AROZ, on 06/24/2008, -1/+1You've crystallized my thoughts eloquently.
- pitlord, on 06/24/2008, -1/+1You're right, the real enemy here is radical Islam. Except, in the West, it is not polite to attack people for their religious beliefs and in general it is unfair to generalize about a whole group based on the radical actions of a few among their ranks.
-_-
Unfortunately, the radical Muslim terrorists tend to disguise themselves to blend in with whatever civilian population they happen to be near. - FallOutBoyTonto, on 06/24/2008, -1/+1¿¿¿
- thawkth, on 06/24/2008, -1/+0Because the first wasn't what it was made out to be?
Because it was blown up to the point where it was a major worldwide conspiracy well organized and funded to destroy america. Logic suggests maybe not - inactive, on 06/24/2008, -1/+0not true, reference that.
we lied to them (RCMP, lied to them) - inactive, on 06/24/2008, -4/+3Hey, ass-clown, where's the link to the Whitehouse
(the creators of 'war on terrorism', a surefire way to create a neverending conflict that would consume your nation)? - CyphreDias, on 06/24/2008, -2/+1Canada has been defeated. The fight for freedom in Canada is over and the people lost. Many of you just don't realize it. You are socialist. Hitler was a socialist. You people have no rights! Say hi to the queen for me.
