- venom8599, on 04/24/2009, -0/+38This is why we can't have nice things.
- paulvq, on 04/24/2009, -1/+24Yes, the CEO is ALWAYS the guy who founded the company...
The guy who started the company is named Craig Newmark. - OfNumbers, on 04/23/2009, -8/+30So why is there still an erotic services section, hmm Craigslist?
- inactive, on 04/24/2009, -2/+24LEGALIZE IT
- rolf, on 04/24/2009, -2/+23Whenever something happens, it's common for people to want a scapegoat. Perhaps prostitution being illegal, like drugs, is the problem. Prohibition never works. Then you force them to work in bad conditions. Are we saying that prostitutes killings didn't happen before Craigslist (Jack-the-Ripper?)
As long as people involved, there's going to be crime. Instead of blaming craigslist, we should blame people. Then we can hear politicians tell us how people are the cause of all the problems in the world and how they'll get rid of them after being elected :X - UtahApocalyse, on 04/24/2009, -1/+22"Last year, the company ruled anyone posting an erotic ad must pay a $5 to $10 fee with a credit card, in a deal with attorney generals from 40 states." Which in turn caused all that crap to move to the personals section making it useless.
- inactive, on 04/24/2009, -5/+25Wait... the CEO's name is Jim?
Who the ***** is Craig? - dms105, on 04/24/2009, -1/+20How am I going to pay for college now?
- BabyWookie, on 04/24/2009, -0/+17Craigslist sucks for whores now. A couple of years ago, it was a different story. Every where I went, I was able to get a girl to my room in under five calls, talk her into a false sense of security and hogtie her, shave her head, burn her with cigarettes and then ***** her in the ass without a condom. I always paid them extra for that... way worth it though.
- gouki64, on 04/24/2009, -2/+18I think its good to have those services in its very own category. Better there than scattered around in random categories.
Craigslist also collects a fee for postings there and they donate it back to the community. - whatthefu, on 04/24/2009, -0/+11It provides a lot of good services to people, too.
- vsujohn2, on 04/24/2009, -0/+10Something like this happens and they ruin it for everybody else... :(
- inactive, on 04/24/2009, -0/+9After looking at your username ,that comment sounds a lot more creepy.
- UtahApocalyse, on 04/24/2009, -4/+12Murder?
- Kumaku, on 04/24/2009, -1/+8I'm not sure why you're getting dug down. It's part of peoples lives more than you think... Politicians and whores, that's all history has taught us will never go away.
For some people, getting your kicks in adult situations is okay. They're not children.
I see prostitution as a gateway to the 420 club. Put the money there if you want a real war on drugs. - inactive, on 04/24/2009, -1/+8Legalize murder!
- AlekNovi, on 04/24/2009, -1/+8No one's "asking for" murder.
- tenardier, on 04/24/2009, -0/+7Craiglist does not kill people...people kill people
- BrownieMix, on 04/24/2009, -0/+7Sexual favors for money has always been prohibited. The erotic services section is there mostly for strippers. It's not meant for hookers.
- AlekNovi, on 04/24/2009, -0/+7There's always doing porn. Still legal :)
- ryan83189, on 04/24/2009, -1/+7Money.
- Synchro, on 04/24/2009, -0/+6There are other erotic services besides prostitution. While that is probably the overwhelming majority of what is there, not all of it is, I am going to guess.
- GovernmentsGun, on 04/24/2009, -0/+5Once we get the marijuana issue settled out, we need to legalize prostitution too.
- kidlover69, on 04/24/2009, -0/+5how am i gona get dat pussy den?
- pirlok, on 04/23/2009, -3/+8Jim would be a stupid man if he admitted that. However, what can be done now? The girl is dead so it's kinda late
- SupremeLeaders, on 04/24/2009, -0/+5It's also for "escort services".
- mranostay, on 04/24/2009, -0/+5So what is the point of Craigslist then?
- donnytomas, on 04/24/2009, -2/+7LEAVE CRAIGSLIST ALONE!!!!
Fox News is the real killer. - rolf, on 04/24/2009, -1/+5@wwwdot...
I don't endorse prostitution. I would not want any of my relatives in it. Girls go in it because it's easy money, true, and I don't think their moral compass is in the right place. But I can't dictate their decisions. People are going to do what they will.
Porn is legal and it's basically just videotaped prostitution. You don't hear all that much from murders there. You also don't hear about murders at the bunny ranch. It's simply a matter of being driven underground where it becomes dangerous to the people doing it. - rolf, on 04/24/2009, -0/+4Go to community college for 3k a year instead of your next 20-100k a year party college for the first two years. Tough it out.
Like America's economic woes, sometimes problems come from not not earning enough but from just spending too much. - tmac79, on 04/24/2009, -1/+5RIP Craigs List.... You'll be missed.
- EGOvoruhk, on 04/24/2009, -0/+4Craigslist isn't the problem, the people are. Jack the Ripper killed plenty of prostitutes, and he didn't need Craigslist
- scentaroom, on 04/23/2009, -9/+13Craigslist seems to be the newest list of problems.... murder, theft, and no telling what else.
- ProKid, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3Wasn't this already prohibited on the site?
- gcnaddict, on 04/24/2009, -1/+4Of course! Just look at Steve Ballmer and Eric Schmidt.
- AlekNovi, on 04/24/2009, -2/+5It will all be legal within a few decades anyway... Most progressive countries have legalized marijuana and prostitution, and more and more countries are doing that.
- reaper527, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3we should all sue whatever company made his car as well
- lazycat, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3Exactly.. Why don't ban automobiles? They kill people every day.
- iletumi, on 04/24/2009, -0/+3Zarchon, really? i mean Really? i will agree that "some" people show all the time they can't do recreational drugs responsibly. Making a general statement like that is the problem with America and the reason why they are illegal as is!
People who are RESPONSIBLE do not ***** ***** up, who ever thinks "Oh but i am responsible yet i crashed my car when i had just one beer" Then either your a bad driver, or you are not responsible. - nwoantibody, on 04/25/2009, -0/+3everything is fine
they ask for roses, - zeppo, on 04/24/2009, -1/+4Umm Amsterdam seems to going the other direction regarding prostitution and drugs. In the process of making them illegal in other words.
- EGOvoruhk, on 04/24/2009, -1/+4Prostitution... and weed
- IVillageIdiot, on 04/24/2009, -0/+2The delusions by which the left cling, EVEN in the full light of day, never ceases to amaze me.
I don't know how Craigslist makes money, but it must be good in order to follow the lawyer's advice even as your stepping over the body of an innocent girl murdered by a sex crazed college student.
I wonder if the college could be found culpable as the encourage promiscuity and "diversity" and the notion that all beliefs and life styles a equally acceptable. (except... Christianity, of course....) - inactive, on 04/25/2009, -0/+2"The chief executive of Craigslist has denied the website offers sex-related advertising."
That is just an outright lie. This guy deserves to have Bubba smack him upside the head. Hard.
Prostitution and all that stuff should be legalized. Once back in the public eye, it will be easier to police and there will be less of the gory consequences of having an underworld sex business. It is legal in Europe and they have fewer (not none) problems like we are seeing now.
But this guy is just a liar. - davdev, on 04/24/2009, -0/+2The myth of laced weed is always amusing. I smoked a good bit in my youth, and never was it anything other than pure bud.
- aletoledo, on 04/24/2009, -0/+2If only we could eliminate all the things that lead people to kill each other, then the world would be a much safer place...boring, but safer.
- AutomaticTLC, on 04/24/2009, -0/+2Tell the executive to click the M4M ads and issue a new statement.
- inactive, on 04/24/2009, -1/+3Most people won't resort to taking up murder just because it is legalized, if anything they need rehab not prison time!
- scentaroom, on 04/24/2009, -1/+3its always to late
- Logrusmage, on 04/24/2009, -1/+3Legalizing prostitution makes as much sense as legalizing Marijuana. And I mean that in the most positive way possible.
