- secrity, on 08/04/2008, -0/+25Many people didn't even choose Countrywide, their mortgage was sold to Countrywide.
- sphoony, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1Talk about getting screwed. I had my mortgage with Bank of America. I got dissatisfied with them so I refinanced with another company and those bastards sold my loan to Countrywide. I must have pissed off Karma somehow.
- thcobbs, on 08/05/2008, -3/+2But hey man, at least Nationwide is on your side!
- ironeus, on 08/04/2008, -1/+26As if Countrywide wasn't suffering already -- once again this leaves the consumer as most vulnerable.

- jeremyduffy, on 08/05/2008, -2/+29It's news when an employee does it without company permission, but when the company sells ALL their data to data brokers or other companies, that's just called data mining and is ok?

- BXRWXR, on 08/05/2008, -2/+8This is nothing less than info-terrorism! These criminals should all be hung for the damage they do to the confidence in our economy by both direct and indirect action.
- Pic0, on 08/05/2008, -0/+2I agree, he should be killed for the amount of damage he has done to the 2 million people.

- 8fans, on 08/05/2008, -0/+5If the gov't is going to spend my tax dollars bailing out all these bad loans then I want the gov't to spend some of my dollars prosecuting some of these *****. Maybe the fear of ten yrs in prison will stop these crooks in the future.

- mnemy, on 08/05/2008, -0/+8Really? $500 for a batch of ~17000? Each of those could yield thousands of dollars if successfully frauded.
If you're gonna be a ***** idiot and risk your entire future, you're gonna do it for ~$60,000 over two years? I mean, he had to at to be making at least $80k working there with his title.- 1773nium, on 08/05/2008, -0/+4You didnt RTFA, his salary was $65k. Your point is still extremely valid.
- buba1243, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1You have to remember the average customer at countrywide probably didn't have the best credit. You would have to find a person with good credit first then defraud.
- neozeed, on 08/05/2008, -1/+2Wow yet another data compromise...
I can't wait untl the terror database is "leaked" and these people excluded from society... Or rounded up. - BarnstormR, on 08/05/2008, -0/+6Sounds so typical of companies that require your personal information, but then does not ensure safekeeping. Maybe companies should be required to encrypt our info upon entering it and then only decrypted by a very few who have a real need to access the info. Companies that require the info should have to pay for serious safeguards to protect it.
This stuff has been going on for too many years. It's time that the willy-nilly handling of our personal info is stopped. - mossking, on 08/05/2008, -0/+2It all starts from the top!

http://gawker.com/392370/americas-most-villainous- ... - jaeldi, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1I've always suspected that employees of large call centers (and other positions) in such large banking and credit card companies are most likely to commit identity theft. Just imagine, you work at a credit card company, and at some point you finally get access to a huge list or database of real credit card numbers. You copy them to a usb drive. Then never return to your job. Then you have a Credit Card printer where you can print a number to a single use card that can be thrown away after you use it. You only use each number once. You live as a nomad, never really paying for anything. And the FBI can never catch up to you because you 'swipe' for goods and services in such a random nomadic fashion. Just imagine.
