- EntropyMan, on 10/12/2007, -4/+30Now we see why BushCo likes him.
"We have to make Iraq safe for kleptocracy." - meltingrobot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Sounds like we brought democracy to their country properly now. Can we leave?
- DreKor, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Well, at least the Iraqi bureaucracy is functioning normally.
- heavensblade23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I guess this is what they meant when they said they wanted Iraq to have a "western-style" democracy.
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Don't blame me, I voted for Saddam's head.
- biuku, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7it ended for 10,000+ kids who, but for America, would have gone to school this morning.
- Osjpr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Especially with the undemocratic method of killing many thousands of innocent civilians and destroying many buildings, homes, industry and infrastructure, building bases on their land and stealing their oil
- Hillsfar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7<SARCASM>
Totally. We're teaching them the ways of American government. What better teacher of the new Iraqi leadership than through our own example?
</SARCASM> - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Iraq seems to fail even more after the US invaded.
- rthakidn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4In Iraq they call it corruption, in the US we just add it to a bill. Let's say like, ........spinach farming!
- Osjpr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5No wonder they want to bomb the government and defend their country from ruin.
- Joe_rigby, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6When we fail in this war effort, we will see that the world will not end, much like it did not end after Vietnam. We've yet to learn that you can not impose a democracy.
- nighttrain2007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"The law says that no case can go forward without the approval of the minister of the affected agency. So far, the report says that various agency ministers have stopped the prosecution and investigation of 102 individuals involved in 48 cases."
But of course. Seeing as the Iraqi Prime Minister appears to be the administration's latest boy, they can't have any investigations that would show just how bad things actually are, corrupt or otherwise.
Just repeat after me, All is well, all is well, all is well.
Presto, no more corruption, except in the minds of the 'evil' MSM. And I'm a conservative!! - bjornski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yeah! Maybe we CAN match Clintons body count!
How many soldiers died under his command again? - EntropyMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3When Saddam's head came off during hanging, did anyone else have a Lord of the Flies flashback?
Maybe it was just me...
Frankly, Saddam's head mounted on a stick might do a better job of running Iraq. At least he couldn't do any harm. - satanatnmtedu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Comment made on the webpage and the first thing I thought of is this. If all the laws were thrown out for a Democratically elected government, then how can a law from the 70's still be in effect? Wasn't it thrown out with the old government?
But, stonewalling sounds like politicians everywhere. - EntropyMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I believe you can deduct 150% of your profits, minus expenses, which are separately deductible under the "No Dollar Left Behind" clause, for a net credit of roughly 200% of any bribes*, or various fees associated with extortion and racketeering.
* Bribes to opposing political parties are not deductible, unless you are related by at least marriage, if not blood. - djtrypt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i think its called the ECTC. Earned Corruption Tax Credit.
i still dont get how wghen we rewrite the laws and restructure the government over there when we invaded, that they are using laws fro m1970's. Wouldn't that be like our gov't during our revolution trying to decree laws based on British laws, after we overthrew there government in our colonies.
the entire sit. in iraq is a joke, and personally speaking, i am very curious to see where that 8 billion dollars went to. i have a sneaking suspicion that alot of that money got into the bank accounts of some US politicians. - rsshilli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2How much of a tax break do they get for being corrupt?
- JombieZesus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Corruption?! In government?! Oh my, now I've seen it all!
- monkeyrun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I think Iraq and Saddam really deserves each other ...
- Joe_rigby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@ClassicCon
Not Vietnam, South Korea. Communism and fascism are not compatible, additionally, real communism has never existed. - Joe_rigby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The difference, geekee, is that it's citizens wanted a western-style democracy. Hey, it's great that we setup a democracy in Iraq, but the non-secular leader elected will ensure decades of sectarian violence if left as is.
- danarama, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Lets welcome our new baby brother Ameristan. Dictators rejoice!
- udh4, on 02/21/2009, -0/+1Is there any financial scandal that the loss value is greater than Bernard Madoff money game ponzi scheme model. Again, the United States. Madoff may have been successful stolen money around USD 50 billion from investors that toss his name as a skilful counterfeiter in the world, in the latest suspected case involves US high military officer, US money corrupted around USD 125 billion. http://globalcase.blogspot.com/
- spawnfree, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"hey, you cant investigate me unless i say you can."
"can i investigate you?"
"no"
this man is clearly above the law. We will need Michael Knight, the A-team, the equalizer and McGyver for this one.
I love real justice, sorry... i mean fantasy. - ClassicCon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Well maybe they can advance from the "corruption" of BushCo and reach the body count of the Clinton Administration... Or at least stuff some classified documents down their pants.
- ClassicCon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0You are right Joe, they sure did WANT it, but instead they got the liberal utopia of communist fascism, poverty, and wholesale slaughter. Good thing we left them high and dry and listened to the courageous Jane Fonda and Noam Clownski.
- geekee, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2"When we fail in this war effort, we will see that the world will not end, much like it did not end after Vietnam. We've yet to learn that you can not impose a democracy."
Right because when you compare S. Korea to Vietnam today, there's no difference, right? - vanbacon, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5I bet Bush has a swimming pool filled with crude oil. "snickers"
