- satanherself, on 06/06/2009, -6/+435There has to be a way to end police brutality. This is ridiculous.
- ClosedCaption, on 06/06/2009, -6/+313He will be suspended with pay, that is all
- CaliberJ, on 06/07/2009, -2/+277Jeez, the fashion police aren't ***** around anymore, are they?
- TheTaoOfBill, on 06/06/2009, -13/+255I normally defend the cops on these digg articles because usually it is justified. But for the life of me I can't figure out what this guy did wrong? He didn't even get a chance to resist. They just flat out tackled the guy. Anyone have any statements from police?
- thegsa, on 06/06/2009, -1/+222What the *****?
They told him to zip up his jacked, then as he was reaching for the zipper, then they attacked him claiming he was reaching for a weapon. - Burento, on 06/06/2009, -2/+158Found this just now... http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=news/loc ...
- franklymister, on 06/07/2009, -0/+133Actually, he's still on active duty, despite the fact that another woman has come forth to accuse him of beating her last year: http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=news/loc ...
- infiniphunk, on 06/07/2009, -1/+130Black guy wearing a jacket. He's really ***** lucky they didn't taze him.
- LouisCipher777, on 06/06/2009, -47/+168remember, to anti-gun zealots cops are the "only ones" who can be trusted with firearms.
- cowsgonemadd3, on 06/07/2009, -0/+105What business is it to them if a guy has his shirt unbuttoned and no shirt on under it?
- inactive, on 06/07/2009, -3/+91This doesn't surprise me in the least. Cops has always been *****. It's just that now cameras are literally everywhere. Why do you think cops are arresting kids who have the audacity to record when a cop makes an arrest, or a search or something, from their cell phones? If they being the upstanding officers that they are expected to be, then they would have nothing to fear. But no, these men with horrible god complexes think they are the end all be all of the race. The other day while taking out my trash, a cop came out of nowhere telling me that I needed to place my bags on my lawn, not my street as people could run into it. The ***** in me just had to say "Wow you must get really pissed when people park their cars in the street." and he threatened to arrest me for that comment.
To protect and served indeed. - cowsgonemadd3, on 06/07/2009, -0/+88He ought to go to jail.
- idolwalrus, on 06/07/2009, -0/+81Charged with "wandering with the intend to buy drugs." WTF?! How is that a law? How can it be lawfully enforced??
- Lefts, on 06/07/2009, -1/+80Good lord.
I'm now finding it more and more disturbing that the only thing keeping the system in check is the system. - inactive, on 06/07/2009, -8/+79WTF! the cops should be HUNG out to dry for that!
- DemiRonin, on 06/07/2009, -3/+74That cop must have had a bad day...Now I hope he has a bad 10 years...in jail!
- valkir, on 06/07/2009, -2/+70At least the media is covering this one and there's a lot of attention now. Other victims weren't so lucky.
- sterlzbd, on 06/07/2009, -0/+65"Holloway, who says he has no police record, was arrested on charges of resisting arrest and wandering with the intent to buy drugs"
Since when can you be arrested for wandering around? - franklymister, on 06/07/2009, -3/+62Are you kidding? Of course it happened in the '50s. In some parts of the country, a black man could be lynched by the police with the whole town coming out to watch. Beatings were routine. It goes back much farther than that.
Learn your history. http://www.google.com/search?q=police+brutality&am ... - lhbaker, on 06/07/2009, -1/+59Several comments here from police apologists imply that because there is no sound on the video, the guy must have said something to provoke the cops. I don't buy it. I find it pretty hard to believe that this guy would have this elaborate plan, which absolutely depended on there being no sound in the video, just so he could get the ***** kicked out of him and sue the department. *****. Occam's Razor tells me that the cop is an *****.
- MaddieCakes, on 06/07/2009, -2/+58Here's how I see it:
The cops are cruising around and one of 'em says, 'Hey! There's this black dude! Let's find ANYTHING to kick his ass for!'
I think they were just looking for an excuse to be *****.
Professional bullyism, that's all law enforcement is these days. Bury me all you want. - TobiasParker, on 06/07/2009, -0/+51Full video from further down in this thread, just thought it should be where more people would see it.

jacked from Charun - roho76, on 06/06/2009, -2/+50@silly:
"she didn't do anything" You're exactly right. She didn't do *****.
WTF is wrong with you? - inactive, on 06/07/2009, -0/+46It really doesn't matter what the officer told him. Even if he was doing something suspicious, which the video does not support, then that officer acted in an unconscionable manner.
- vbullinger, on 06/07/2009, -2/+46He'll probably get a medal.
- inactive, on 06/07/2009, -8/+49He shouldn't have been black. Plain and simple.
- MicrosoftAccess, on 06/07/2009, -5/+44"Crooked ass cops is the reason for my belligerence" -The roots
- MikeOxbigg, on 06/07/2009, -1/+39It says a lot about the state of law enforcement that we can expect 1-2 of these a month nowadays.
There's an outrage, people gasp, there's usually an "investigation" while the iron's hot (and paid suspension along with it) and then back to status quo.
I was expecting people to rise up after the last one (in which a cop blatantly shot a black teen mercenary style after he was handcuffed and on the ground) but nope....I HATE to say this but I guess we'll have to wait for a white female victim for that to happen. - Nidy1, on 06/07/2009, -8/+46Um...stupid place to insert that argument. What would have happened if the man had a gun? Nothing different. This has nothing to do with gun law.
- Elliuotatar, on 06/07/2009, -0/+36Getting rid of BS charges like "disorderly conduct", "wandering for the purpose of obtaining controlled dangerous substances", and "resisting arrest" when no other crime has been comitted, would be a great start.
(Those were the crimes he was charged with.) - Jrayk, on 06/07/2009, -1/+37Enough are for it to be a problem.
- Kyan, on 06/07/2009, -2/+37You spelled fried wrong.
- dstz, on 06/07/2009, -5/+40"I normally defend the cops on these digg articles because usually it is justified"
One day it will happen to YOU and you will not think the same anymore. Me, i have a witnessed a whole police station, save for a young cop or two, who went ***** violent on a few arrested pot smokers. Tied them, beat them up, etc.
Indeed, there were a few good apples. But good apples don't last long in rotten fruit baskets. - Timpala, on 06/07/2009, -5/+39Hey people!
This is a 49 year old schizophrenic man living with his mother.
THIS COULD BE ANY OF US! WE MUST UNITE! - addakorn, on 06/07/2009, -4/+38He is really lucky they didn't shoot and kill an unarmed person like this BART officer did. http://www.abusivepower.org/?p=16
- specialbuddy1, on 06/07/2009, -0/+33A female cop stopped me for jogging on a rural road. She said it was illegal to jog on the road. She also wanted ID and I didn't have one because I was wearing shorts with no pockets.
- HeavyWave, on 06/07/2009, -0/+33So that they could say he was trying to pull out a weapon.
- Valyn, on 06/07/2009, -1/+32You know, I've always wondered how you can be arrested for nothing other than 'resisting arrest.'
- ShingoEX, on 06/07/2009, -0/+30You can call a cop an *****, and you still haven't broken any laws. The beating was unjustified.
- Pigeon, on 06/07/2009, -8/+33Stop posting this *****. It's from a nineties chain email or something.
- Shazbuckle, on 06/07/2009, -0/+25Chief of Police
Daniel Paton

The officers name is Joseph R. Rios III.
Do your thing - Bulletbillx, on 06/07/2009, -0/+25yeah. that is *****. freedom of movement is an inalienable right.
- RobbieF, on 06/07/2009, -0/+25Looking at the liveleak raw footage, I noticed a couple things.
Look at 0:54 ... He's standing against the police car, and the pig tries to tackle him again.
Then at 1:03... He tries it again, but the victim runs to the protection of the other officers.
THat's when the beating stopped. - SpyCatcher, on 06/07/2009, -1/+26He should be FIRED.
- caveman84, on 06/07/2009, -11/+36***** PIGGGGG
- CaptOblivious, on 06/07/2009, -6/+31Sorry,
You must be confused.
You don't need JUSTIFICATION to exercise your CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS.
They are YOUR rights, you may use them as you see fit. - LordVance, on 06/07/2009, -1/+26If the man had a gun he would likely be dead now.
- Grolsch, on 06/07/2009, -1/+23Johnson, this n..a is on PCP, get the back up!
Lets sprinkle some crack and get of here. - dazparkour, on 06/07/2009, -3/+25***** that Crossmr - I reserve the right to go outside without carrying proof of who I am for no reason.
- Wingin, on 06/07/2009, -14/+35The man's story and the videotape are disturbing. It looks like the police officer assaulted him without provocation.
However, when I read the Digg headline and saw that there was a supporting video I expected the video to include sound in which I could hear the officer tell this man to zip up his jacket, and say that he was being arrested for having an unzipped jacket. There is no such sound. On the other hand the man is described as schizophrenic - a condition in which people sometimes suffer from auditory hallucinations. And I, without schizophrenia, often mishear what people say to me.
I don't get it. Do people in the US routinely, or ever get told by the police to zip up their jackets? Is there some sort of link between the idea that he was told to zip up a jacket and the real world or not? Or is the real story just about a policeman being caught on camera arresting someone who was behaving suspiciously, as far as the police could tell, and using a lot of excessive force?
The idea that it was somehow about his jacket being open or not certainly makes the story sound more interesting. -
