I can be as snarky and impolite to a police officer as I like [with the exception of using swear words in certain states and countries], but as long as I comply with all his LAWFUL orders there is nothing he is supposed to do. Police officers are trained to restrain their emotions so that they can remain impartial. They seem to forget this training early on.

Pugs were bred with short snouts, and that significantly reduces the amount of surface area available to exhaust the heat. Boxers and bulldogs also suffer from this issue.
I've taken my pugs on 3 mile jogs/walks. They do just fine. Ah yes America, Land of the Free, where you should be ***** scared of your police officers and obey their every wish.
Police are not gods, they are not above the law, and things like "do whatever the hell he/she says. Otherwise they WILL ***** with you." shouldn't be so commonplace that you just dismiss it as standard practice.

Police have layers of protection that prevent them from being judged by their friends and family. This creates an air of impenetrability. If we publicly denegrate people like this, eventually cops will get the message: you may only be put on paid leave for a month by your department, but WE the PEOPLE will make sure you pay.
I say we each give him what we think he deserves. Have you heard of punitive damages? Seen what the media industry is doing to poor single mothers when they download a song? I thought the supreme court had ruled that it was unconstitutional to force you to produce ID and that you had the right to refuse (with the obvious exception of needing a license to drive, of course).
- inactive, on 07/01/2009, -55/+87I hate abusive cops as much as the next guy, but living in Wburg for the last 7 years, and living in Northeastern cities throughout my life, I can attest to this fact: hipsters in Brooklyn are generally very douchey and extremely entitled and not very street-smart to the ways of the world (especially the Bedford stop trustafarians). I can see this escalating to the point where it didn't have to because the woman had somewhat of an argumentative attitude.
The submission says she was being given a ticket, but "she became upset" and tried to walk away? Come the ***** on--you don't ***** walk away from a cop when they're trying to cite you. That's daring a guy with a gun and a license. Did she think because she was white and had ***** that the cop wasn't going to grab her and stop her from leaving? Would a cop do that if it was a black teenage guy? Yeah, you bet your sweet trust-fund ass he would.
People that grow up white in the suburbs have a very naive understanding of how to behave around police officers. It was understood in my neighborhood that when a cop stops you, you shut the ***** up unless spoken to, and only then respond with "yes officer, no officer," you keep a very calm, agreeable tone, and do whatever the hell he/she says. Otherwise they WILL ***** with you.
Again, I'm not saying this woman did anything to deserve her bruises; I'm saying, take this ***** with a grain of salt. There are a LOT of stupid white bitches in Brooklyn, and they outnumber the cops.
