- ron7852, on 05/22/2009, -10/+1520I enjoy cracking on republicans as much as the next digger, but I applaud this guy. Instead of just saying ah, waterboardings fine, he actually saw what it was like himself. His words : "It was instantaneous...and I don't want to say this: absolutely torture."
- jsffive, on 05/22/2009, -33/+1060Where are all the other neo-conservative water carriers?
Any bets on how long it would take a pussy like Hannity to give up? - mikepictor, on 05/22/2009, -6/+826I'll give him more.
Not only did he do it, but he had the guts to go back to his listeners, and change his tune. He didn't try and manufacture a defense of his former position. He said flat out, I was wrong, it's torture.
My hat off to him I say. - hoobied, on 05/22/2009, -27/+609This is a classic example of 'them-ism.'
It all seems so distant and simple when it's not you strapped to a table, or being bombed, or losing family, or becoming homeless, or being wiretapped, or being rendered.
Surely the 'they' are just pussies and I, white American male, am more sophisticated and resolute than 'them.'
The ethnocentrism is simply astounding. - mediablitz, on 05/22/2009, -40/+563He lasted just as long as he does during sex!
/waits for the "how would you know" replies
But really. It is always the chickenhawks who say "that ain't nothin!", but fold faster than Phil Helmuth with 7-2 off suit. They all are compensating.
I'll give Mancow this: at least he did it. - 10lbhammer, on 05/22/2009, -13/+524this is so ***** awesome. I'm going to favorite this story so I can return and post it as a response to everyone who contends that waterboarding isn't torture!
"give me dick cheney and an hour and I'll have him confessing to the sharon tate murders." -jesse ventura - mithrasinvictus, on 05/22/2009, -3/+467Hannity will have a secret test run, fail, and never mention it again.
- beatle42, on 05/22/2009, -20/+474With a conservative having this sort of public experience and conversion, I'm going to guess that Olberman's money is safe.
- gttim, on 05/22/2009, -3/+390He was not lashed down. He knew he could have it stopped at any time. He knew doctors were there. He knew co-workers were there. And he said it was instant torture. Imagine being a prisoner and having enemy guards strap you down so you could not move, tilt you back and start doing that.
- FredFredrickson, on 05/22/2009, -7/+378I'm a left-thinker, but I have no problem with people on the other side of the aisle as long as they do two things:
1. Put their money where their mouth is
2. Admit when they are wrong
This man did both, and he deserves respect from both sides for it. - xenuxenuts, on 05/22/2009, -4/+356He had the balls to do it. Even more important is he changed his mind and said so. This guy has done something more important than most people: he changed his opinion.
- TreatsTheBear, on 05/22/2009, -2/+273Hannity lasted exactly 0 seconds and raised $0 for charity.
- otbeverly, on 05/22/2009, -3/+263Hannity is the only media "personality" I know of (or otherwise) to succumb to being waterboarded before ever having the technique demonstrated on him.
Didn't he agree to do it for charity and then back out? - banderwocky, on 05/22/2009, -24/+271So that's how your get Rightwing extremists to develop common sense!
Waterboard them! Start lining them up! - topgigmedia, on 05/22/2009, -0/+242Yeah, but people should be given the opportunity to change their opinion. What is the point of trying to inform people and if you are going to ***** on them when they see the light?
- Lederhosed, on 05/22/2009, -9/+251i love it. when can i see ann coulter-geist get waterboarded?
- Diefree, on 05/22/2009, -16/+225Ready to admit you're wrong torture apologists?
- shadus, on 05/22/2009, -2/+186I have more respect for him now than I did, at least he had the balls to stand up and do it... and I think it's notable how fast his views changed.
- Frankyfan3, on 05/22/2009, -2/+170Ya, he is abandoning his commitment to support the troops & their family because he's unwilling to go through "safe enhanced interrogation techniques" to raise money for charitable programs that benefit our service people & their families.
He's so full of *****... I'm still confused about my disappointment over his refusal, as I should never have expected him to go through with his promise. - inactive, on 05/22/2009, -5/+162Now imagine having that done, while tied down, you can't speak, there's no "foul," you can't stop it, for 30 seconds at a time, for hours upon end. Then blasted music at high volumes at you in a pitch black room for days upon days. Then having your genitals sliced with a scalpel, being forced naked, stacked on other detainees while you're blindfolded, being forced to masturbate, or being walked on a leash like a dog.
If you weren't a terrorist going in, I guaran-*****-tee you will be one on your way out. - kingmanic, on 05/22/2009, -1/+148A semi-honest Republican hack. He put his money where his mouth is and was wrong. He admitted it and that is honourable even if his original statements were not.
- kemp34, on 05/22/2009, -6/+146Good for him for stepping up and doing it. Anyone who has not been waterboarded and claims it is not torture is demonstrating idiotic behavior.
- whatthefu, on 05/22/2009, -2/+135Dugg for his honesty and willingness to change his mind on such a contentious subject. Most radio hosts/commentators, liberal or conservative, wouldn't dare give up any ground on an issue because they know their opponents would just eat it up and use it as leverage on other issues.
- mgraham80, on 05/22/2009, -2/+132Good point. Unfortunately for you, you just made a terrific argument for why we should use the tried and true methods of the Army Field Manual and traditional interrogation techniques.
It was the traditional techniques, btw, that got Zabudayh to talk. When they started torturing, he stopped talking. - EnviroChem, on 05/22/2009, -2/+124It isn't a matter of holding your breath, it is a matter of the way the water runs up your nose and into your mouth. As was said in the article:
"It is such an odd feeling to have water poured down your nose with your head back...It was instantaneous...and I don't want to say this: absolutely torture. Absolutely. I mean that's drowning," he added later. "It is the feeling of drowning." - royceguy, on 05/22/2009, -6/+127“Give me a waterboard, Dick Cheney and one hour and I’ll have him confess to the Sharon Tate murders.” -Jesse Ventura
- inactive, on 05/22/2009, -2/+123Aw man...I would pay $100 for every second Hannity water-boards.
- alittlebrookie, on 05/22/2009, -8/+123Next up in National News:
Scientists confirm World is indeed round. - oderdigg, on 05/22/2009, -4/+118Hannity is such a pussy he'll never do it. EVER.
I'm glad this douchebag did it. Sure cleared up his act quickly. - Hetman, on 05/22/2009, -6/+118Jesse Ventura went through SERE school. He has been waterboarded and he has stated taht it is torture.
- Suzilla, on 05/22/2009, -2/+113BRING ON HANNITY!!!!
- beand1p, on 05/22/2009, -12/+123Today, I experienced waterboarding. FML.
- mediablitz, on 05/22/2009, -2/+107LOL. I wondered when the "torture is the only way to gather information, we just need to decide the level" argument would appear.
Read up on history. Torture is a cruddy way to gather valuable information. Torture is GREAT for getting someone to say what you WANT them to say.
Did you read the testimony of one of our interrogators? He got KSM's name in an hour, just by talking. Had the another bomber within three hours. THEN, we brought in the torture squad, and the man never spoke again.
"Set an absolute limit and announce it to the world"
That is what everyone did, with the Geneva Convention. It has been out there. We sent many, many people to prison for violations.
"Judge all you want, but don't think you have the magic answer sitting behind a keyboard and monitor."
That goes double for you, with your belief that torture is the way to go. Read up. There are several very good books on the subject. Torture DOESN'T WORK, despite what you seem to believe from watching "24", or any other hollywood production.
I spent 10 years in the military. Your keyboard jockey comment assumes people with knowledge don't exist. - msflower97, on 05/22/2009, -2/+103Don't like Mancow, but at least he was willing to go through it and is now admitting he was wrong. Let's see Limbaugh and Cheney (for starters) try it. Absolutely awesome story.
- FredFredrickson, on 05/22/2009, -1/+98Their lack of imagination and empathy is one of the very reasons why all these morons still think waterboarding should be okay to do.
- NotAChickenHawk, on 05/22/2009, -2/+97Cool. Will you be volunteering to test out your "hold your breath" theory yourself?
- papastout, on 05/22/2009, -8/+101Heeeere kitty kitty kitty
C'mon Hannity, man up - CoD4, on 05/22/2009, -19/+110I like the part where he got waterboarded
- RatatRatR, on 05/22/2009, -2/+85*****' A right.
- ironhide, on 05/22/2009, -2/+84Let me break it down for you
Jesse Ventura spoke
1 hour
Dick Cheney
Waterboarded
He will confess to something he didn't do
Conclusion:
Torture doesn't work.
Man, you are a dense one. - frcc, on 05/22/2009, -5/+86The term "enhanced interrogation technique" is being used by conservatives AND liberals in the media. Its a large scale brainwashing effort to water down, no pun indented, the negative association that comes with the word torture.
- Diefree, on 05/22/2009, -5/+84Your friends are idiots. Ask WW2 POWs of Japan if waterboarding is torture. We executed the Japanese soldiers for waterboarding American POWs. So yes it IS torture and I challenge anyone that doesn't think so to volunteer to be waterboarded.
- o76923, on 05/22/2009, -1/+76He was expecting it to be a trivial splash on the face, when he felt like he was going to die, it surprised him. Also, torture sucks.
- nickaster, on 05/22/2009, -16/+90That is frigging hilarious. And incredibly satisfying.
- oderdigg, on 05/22/2009, -1/+72Try it yourself. Just put a damp cloth on your face, covering your nose and have someone pour water in your nose and mouth. I'm sure you'll last more than 6 seconds right?
- jreilly4261, on 05/22/2009, -2/+70Hannity has agreed to do it for military families. So email your pledge to rgreene@airamerica.com
I doubt he'll follow through, but maybe they'll set up a liar's fund too. - NotAChickenHawk, on 05/22/2009, -0/+68Jesse's wrong. He wouldn't need an hour with Cheney. If ManCow can only hold out for about 6 seconds, Cheney would probably start blubbering like a baby as soon as they put the towel on his head.
- seltaeb4, on 05/22/2009, -7/+75Was that even 6 seconds? I think whomever was running the clock was being pretty generous in his favor... and this wasn't even a "real" waterboarding.
This is a must-watch video for all right-wing wussbag Keyboard Kommandos. - avshanbh, on 05/22/2009, -28/+96"Average person lasts can take this for 14 seconds". This proves that conservatives are fear mongering cowards. That pussy Sean Hannity is the biggest example..I doubt he can last as long as Mancow did.
- CunninLynguists, on 05/22/2009, -1/+69Hellmuth doesn't always fold 7-2.
