Richard Perle led the study group that released the "Clean Break" paper in 1996, which urged the overthrow of Saddam Hussein. Perle served as Chairman of the Defense Policy Board Advisory Committee from 2001 to 2003.
The Defense Department was packed with Zionists, not oil men. The Arab parties in Israel have 10 seats. The left wing parties Kadima and Labour are now leading the country. with the majority of seats in Knesset.

The Israeli congress and the Israeli government are tightly bound together. The majority holder of seats in Knesset forms a coalition with other parties, and they choose the government. Once the Prime minister no longer holds the support of the majority of parliament members, they can vote a vote of "in-confidence" and replace the government. (something that takes place on an almost daily basis in Israel, but only succeeds once every few years). You'd be surprised at how much better the Israelis are to democracy compared to the US.
On the other hand, you could always prefer the monarchies of the Arab states, or the theocracies of Iran and Gaza. At least when they "vote in-confidence", the previous leader gets brutally killed.
