- Carpy, on 11/12/2008, -2/+37AF claims test got harder. Oh boohoo. Clean up your act!
- LeepII, on 11/13/2008, -1/+30Apparently no one realizes just how hard these test are (and should be). Something as simple as a mistyped number on one piece of paper can lead to a failure.
- Airforcefalco, on 11/13/2008, -1/+16Just so you guys know, the standard is pretty much perfection as it should be when dealing with nukes. 99.9% of the inspection can go outstanding but one unsatisfactory will fail the whole base.
I would like to see other jobs meet that standard or pass that type of inspection. - RennyB, on 11/12/2008, -0/+13That's not the NSA's job. They are in charge of signals intelligence and cryptology.
- Airforcefalco, on 11/13/2008, -0/+10My name was spelled Nicholas once on a dispatch and we had the SF swarming all over us because my name is actually spelled Nickolas.
- Fizban140, on 11/13/2008, -0/+9You guys have no idea whats these tests consist of or how many they have been through this year, they probably passed several already this year but they failed this last one. It would have been something as simple as writing down a 7 as a 9, you people have no idea what you are talking about.
- jackhowitzer, on 11/12/2008, -1/+10Pretty scary
- Iwantawii, on 11/13/2008, -1/+8It's kind of a good thing. Find flaws, fix them. We're safer now, not 100% safe yet (or ever), but to pass this off as a huge failing would be to miss the mark.
- Airforcefalco, on 11/13/2008, -0/+6I understand. I was trying to put the criteria in perspective for people who act like there should have been no problem passing the test.
- catpockets, on 11/13/2008, -0/+6I know the average Digger believes "Enemy of the State", and that the NSA can track down and off anyone they please at any time, but you're wrong.
They don't cover the inspection of nuclear material or sites, they don't go to your Mom's house and steal her recipe for those delicious Macadamia nut cookies, and they don't care that your tinfoil hat and basement Faraday cage are v3.0 and alien/Agency proof.
Their bread and butter is Information Assurance, Signals Intelligence, and cryptology (cryptanalysis and the creating of new codes.)
The DoE handles the Nuclear programs and their upkeep. Why don't you point the tinfoil antennae their way? You might pick up the schematics of Tony Stark's ARC reactor that they've hid away for 50 years, so you had to continue paying your electric bill. - donkeydrop, on 11/13/2008, -0/+5You would prefer they had an inspection that could never be failed?
- Anomaly100, on 11/13/2008, -1/+6It's a shame that so much power is necessary to begin with, but it's going to be around until we blow each other up, or do it ourselves, apparently.
- Spoomeister, on 11/13/2008, -0/+5Still better than the unknown number of loose nukes left over from the collapse of the former Soviet Union.
- canada01, on 11/13/2008, -0/+5I was in the air force and actually worked on the Peacekeeper ICBM and can tell you first hand as a person who has been through one of these inspections one area can fail the entire base. From what the report said, i gather that the actual maintenance procedures of the Missile and weapons passed and the paperwork part failed, people don't realize that so many areas beyond the actual hands on maintenance that a shop that may not have anything to do with hands on maintenance can fail the whole thing for everybody. So before people start calling for total dissarmanent of nuclear weapons, they should get facts and information from someone who knows how it works.
- inactive, on 11/13/2008, -0/+4That reminds me, wasn't the tin-foil brigade putting forth the plant that the goverment was going to use the missing nukes for an October surprise?
Did I miss it? - afmmolina, on 11/14/2008, -0/+4EMT and former ALCM
Small world - Soniti, on 11/13/2008, -0/+4Seriously. Nuke inspections are no joke; I was stationed at Barksdale when they got ***** up for the Nuke transport issue a year or so back.. NOT FUN. Nuclear Weapons are looked at with a "zero fail" mentality; if anything is wrong with the process, parts, or personell, it's an automatic failure.
- canada01, on 11/13/2008, -0/+4How fragile do you people think nukes are? If you search the internet for a icbm that blew up in the silo in the 70's in arkansas and the warhead was on the missile at the time of the explosion. It is almost impossible for the nuke to detonate by accident.
- unradical, on 11/13/2008, -0/+4Love to see the comments from all these armchair generals that don't have a clue about the process.
- canada01, on 11/13/2008, -0/+4PK MMT
- inactive, on 11/13/2008, -1/+4America to you: ***** Off
Really, no one cares what a troofer (who is also under the sad pathetic delusion that Ron Paul would have beaten Obama lol) thinks about anything. Go wank off to videos about building 7 or whatever it is you foil hats do instead of getting laid these days. - Airforcefalco, on 11/14/2008, -0/+3I am for a few more weeks an x3, you?
- Zervaman, on 11/13/2008, -0/+3http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/youare
- bobcat7407, on 11/13/2008, -0/+3It wasn't noticed because it is an unmanned site. If it doesn't hurt anything, then no alarms go off. That's quite the assumption that you make that only a few nukes will still be sufficient. If Russia knew that we were only able to hit a few of their assets while they could destroy us completely, then MADD wouldn't work very well would it?
- afmmolina, on 11/14/2008, -0/+3Haha, i'm glad to get away from all that nuke *****. You get jacked up for the stupidest *****... like a misspelled name
- rhudgins32, on 11/13/2008, -0/+3Then their regulations would be more lax...
- bobcat7407, on 11/13/2008, -0/+3That's why they have the inspections. Which they pass the majority of the time. Such a stringent inspection is bound to be failed sometimes though, which is good because it points out any areas that need to be worked on before they become a major problem and it ensures that we keep our standards high.
- bobcat7407, on 11/14/2008, -0/+3ALCM at Barksdale? I was a small missiles x1 in Minot.
- rhudgins32, on 11/13/2008, -0/+3Well I'm glad these tests are in place to determine this stuff so we can fix them. It would be easy to brush a lot of the stuff under the rug, I think we should be thankful that they're at least trying to get better and they recognize there is a problem.
- Airforcefalco, on 11/13/2008, -2/+4It's better to keep your mouth shut and let everyone assume that you are an idiot instead of opening your mouth and confirming it.
- silentnight913, on 11/13/2008, -1/+3Bitter much because you couldn't pass the ASVAB? I only say that because of your inablility to use basic capitalization and punctuation.
But hey, I guess the weak minded join the military to serve their country and get free education. The strong minded prepare for the end of the world because of a calendar built by people who believed it would please their gods to shed blood from their penis. Whatever you say. - Buraken, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2Looks like the nuke has a condom on it or what?
- inactive, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2The same crowd was babbling about "buy gas before the election because prices will go back up" too, yet prices continue to drop. Maybe now some of the diggiots will learn that Bush really doesnt control the gas prices, and low gas prices are not some magic fix to get Republicans elected.
- rhudgins32, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2haha! i'd enjoy watching you try...
- Airforcefalco, on 11/14/2008, -0/+2I'm actually at Malmstrom but I cross train Monday to 9S100.
- bobcat7407, on 11/14/2008, -0/+2That would work.
- sockpuppets, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2Cagney & Lacey
- afmmolina, on 11/14/2008, -0/+2What the hell are you rambling about? Radiation poisoning? 2012? Sounds like the same kind of crazy ***** those protesters always say at the gate.
Anyway there is some truth in what you said. Some of the craziest weirdos I ever known are in my career field. They get weeded out though and put into back-shops so don't worry! - bobcat7407, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2*MAD, not Mothers Against Drunk Driving
- inactive, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2Agreed. I helped secure their nuclear weapons storage area amongst other things and know that aspect of their operation is very solid. That installation sucked btw...
- thescimitar, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2Agreed. It's good that there are tests hard enough to be failed. They ensure high standards and identify problem areas, even with process. Besides, this is what made the United States successful, a willingness to fail. Testing is utterly useless if everyone passes. Look at NCLB.
- Airforcefalco, on 11/14/2008, -0/+2Mutually Assured Devastating Destruction?
- NCSD, on 11/14/2008, -0/+1Stop talking if you don't know what your talking about or simply stating the obvious
- smmakira, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1They should of studied more...Tisk, Tisk
- AUAviator, on 11/14/2008, -0/+1ahh! actual evidence refuting my argument! digg it down!!! the logic AHH the LOGIC!!!
clat98 you are a ***** JOKE - joeca18888, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1EMT, FMT, or MMT?
- bobcat7407, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1Wow, it's sad that someone with those beliefs could become part of our legal system. "Army kids are murderous tools" is quite the generalization, as is "murdering Iraqi little kids". Your statements do not restore any faith in humanity, they make me sad that people in the military die for your right to speak freely and that is what you have to say. Pathetic.
- MarkusX, on 11/18/2008, -0/+1Thanks for that information.
I don't ever mind to learn something. - NCSD, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1"If you don't Shut your mouth, I'm gonna ***** it"
-Zach and Miri Make A Porno - motters, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1This should be quite a serious issue, because even the *accidental* detonation of a nuclear device due to poor maintenance or unqualified/unsuitable staff could have very bad consequences, perhaps even triggering a major war.
