- ScienceDoc, on 10/06/2008, -13/+250The Bin Laden Family and the Bush Family go way back.
- Rotzooi, on 10/06/2008, -13/+174The Republicans NEED Osama Bin Laden. No scared Joe Sixpack means no vote for the GOP from Joe Sixpack.
- skull24, on 10/07/2008, -3/+83Here a link to a 60 Minutes interview with that Delta Force commando. http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=4502669n
- Royish, on 10/07/2008, -9/+87You can't touch Osama Bin Laden. His family has made millions upon millions of dollars for the Bush family. They won't allow it.
- Wryly, on 10/07/2008, -3/+71If you run on fear, you don't kill the boogeyman.
- dsmx, on 10/07/2008, -4/+71It pains me to say this but even Michael Moore was right about that.
- AndrewDB, on 10/07/2008, -10/+71How many pages does it take to say "We had George W. Bush in the white house and that's what went wrong." ?
- Vorphlack, on 10/07/2008, -0/+52reminds me of the Anton LaVey quote:
"Satan has been the best friend the Church has ever had, as He has kept it in business all these years. " - Revolutionista, on 10/07/2008, -6/+51The Neocons won't have a viable agenda if bin Laden is killed or captured.
- MikeyMoose, on 01/30/2009, -4/+42It makes perfect sense. Bush (Cheney) couldn't justify an Iraq war if Bin Laden was dead...
- k3rfuffl3, on 10/07/2008, -1/+30Bin Laden is the Emmanuel Goldstein of real life
- franklymister, on 10/07/2008, -15/+40The fundamental mistake conspiracy theorists make, in my opinion, is assuming that everything that goes ***** up is a nefarious plot.
Incompetence and idiocy is far more common in the world, and it sounds like it happened here.
Look, I think Bush is one brain cell away from a retarded monkey (and I'm not saying which direction), but the story doesn't tie the "higher ups" to Bush, it just says that the higher authorities micromanaged and screwed up the attack. The most likely scenario is overanxious commanders making bad decisions under pressure.
It all reflects terribly on Bush's administration and the entire incompetence with which these wars have been handled, but it's not a conspiracy, in my Ockham-influenced opinion.
Then again, for people that make a hobby out of seeing black helicopters under their bed at night, I guess this is one more bit of fun for them. Enjoy, guys. Fnord! - quesi, on 10/06/2008, -2/+24Why would they allow Tim Osman to be killed?
- montanask8, on 10/07/2008, -2/+21Bin Laden is actually the gardner with the breathing apperatus at the Bush family ranch in texas.
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -13/+29makes sense, since Bin Lade is CIA asset. Inside Job
- RodBorn, on 10/07/2008, -3/+19exactly.
It is the Batman-Joker scenario...
only for political power and profits. - damack, on 10/07/2008, -6/+21It's ironic really how the arabs and americans are duped into fighting a war against each other when theyr just political pawns in a game being played by two buddies; Bin Laden and George Bush.
Their families have ties and mutual interests it was obvious what was going on from day one they blamed Bin Laden only hours after September 11, we all know the CIA can't even wipe their own noses let alone work something like that out within hours. - gwolf, on 10/07/2008, -4/+19Of course Bush never really wanted to get Bin Laden; with him out of the picture going after Iraqi Oil would be harder to sell.
If this isn't high treason, I beg you, What is? - FairNUnBalanced, on 10/07/2008, -1/+13There is nothing new in this "raw story" article. There is nothing new in this 60 minutes interview. And there is nothing new that "Dalton Fury" said in either these interviews or in his book, that hasn't already been discussed at length by the actual principles involved both in Washington and on the ground in Afghanistan.
Many of them, including the actual operatives on the ground at Tora Bora, the head of the Bin Laden desk at the CIA, and the deputy director of the CIA himself have been on record for YEARS with this exact same story.
You can read or see them talking about it in person here at the PBS Frontline website.
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/darkside/i ...
None of this has anything to do with any kind of "inside job" conspiracy or anything of the kind, it is simply the history of how events unfolded at Tora Bora, and how we let Osama slip away.
The only thing NEW about this story, is that Americans are finally ready to listen. - odigity, on 10/07/2008, -0/+12It's not just the Republicans, but yes, Osama is our Emmanuel Goldstein for the moment.
- SilverBlade2k, on 10/07/2008, -3/+15With bin Ladin alive, it gives more urgency to be in Iraq and Afghanistan. It also justifies the expenses of the military.
If he were dead, Bush's buddies wouldn't be making money from selling weapons of war, and there wouldn't be justification for the U.S to be at war.
By keeping him alive, the war continues. This war was never meant to have an ending. - X9001, on 10/07/2008, -1/+13NSFW
- StusGhost, on 10/07/2008, -3/+14The most badass story I've seen on Digg. Ever.
- olenick, on 10/07/2008, -18/+29Bin Laden will magically release a video telling people to vote for Obama right before the election ... just watch. The only question is whether people will be stupid enough to correlate the timing of these videos with the need for Republicans to scare the crap out of people or sling mud by saying Bin Laden supports an opponent. Makes me wonder where the Bushies are hiding him and how much trouble they'll get into when they eventually get caught.
- dafragsta, on 10/07/2008, -1/+12Where did the three douchebags who buried you come from? My god, have the neocons no shame.
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -1/+12Let's have hearings and get to the bottom of this. I want the name of the person who stopped these operations.
- MikeyMoose, on 01/30/2009, -0/+10Uh - that's not "treason".
Watch the whole video - and there's nothing in it that's far fetched or fantastical. I have very little doubt about his story. - dhVyse, on 10/07/2008, -0/+10I lolled at the Exxon/Mobile commercial right before the video.
- CrazedLeper, on 10/07/2008, -0/+10Guys like the author are best ignored by the machine. If they address his claims in any respect, they substantiate them to some degree. If they ignore him, people who can't think for themselves (the majority) won't know what to think. Uncertainty will not provoke a reaction.
If too many people start believing him, however, the machine will be forced to address it but on disingenuous terms. He will be called "crank", "disgruntled", "conspiracy nut" or "nutjob". Those trigger words will shut off the masses like a light switch. - pinnx, on 10/07/2008, -4/+13I befriended a marine recently who told me about his experience as a sniper in Afghanistan. this seems to be spot on with what he said about hiding in white mountains, having bin laden cornered, moments away from capture. originally the plan was to get him 'at all costs' and when they did have them, the order was then made (by bush) to back down. my friend said that the war in Afghanistan would have been over in December of 2001 essentially (that was when this happened) if Bush had wanted it to be...
- gwolf, on 10/07/2008, -0/+9To the neocons, 1984 wasn't a warning but an operations manual.
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -4/+13There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.
- ProKid, on 10/07/2008, -7/+16Is Bin Laden even a real person or a fear tactic. Or is he just the greatest, most escapinest terrorist to ever live?
- badnewshotel, on 10/07/2008, -14/+23Right... like that's going to happen. Yawn.
- chevyorange, on 10/07/2008, -1/+9You may be right, but let's kill him anyway.
- odigity, on 10/07/2008, -9/+17Farenheit 9/11 was a white-wash. We all enjoyed watching him make Bush look stupid, but he left out the ***** massive mountains (like Mt Everest large) of evidence of government cover-ups and complicity, only leaving in stuff that made it look like incompetence. It was subtle propaganda.
- warp1080, on 10/07/2008, -0/+8He's donating all profits to Special Operations Warrior Foundation.
- heaintheavy, on 10/07/2008, -1/+9Good point.
- odigity, on 10/07/2008, -6/+14It's not limited to a party, jack-ass. The two-party system is an illusion. Stop perpetuating partisan distractions, we have real problems to solve.
- lhbaker, on 10/07/2008, -1/+9Gee, judging by your avatar, I'd guess you'd more open minded.
/s - m4lomb, on 10/07/2008, -6/+14Sounds like Republicans and Bin Laden are partners.
- unradical, on 10/07/2008, -1/+8Fox news, is that you?
- ElectricSpeed, on 10/07/2008, -0/+7Terrorism is the new Communism. I
- xizax, on 10/07/2008, -3/+10That was a few days after after 911 when all those people got private planes, and flew all around the country picking up dont remember whos family, when nobody else could fly...oh yeah and it was authorized by somebody high above with no name in both cases.
I think 60 minutes really should have asked what day this operation happened, but Im sure it was no later than 1 week after 911, as these assets do that kind of rapid response job. I guess having an Osama last name comes with a good life insurance policy. - montanask8, on 10/07/2008, -5/+12I think that Bin Laden is actually working as a gardner at the Bush family ranch in Texas.
- sentime, on 10/07/2008, -0/+7Tim Osmond
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -2/+9 This isn't the first account I've read of higher ups in the
US command structure helping facilitate Bin Ladin's escape. - HippyInASuit, on 10/07/2008, -1/+8The FBI has even said they have no evidence linking Osama BinLaden to 9/11.
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -1/+8Why does it censor him when he says "most everything he's read in the media..." "...is wrong"?
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -2/+9You know, the Republicans don't have to have Osama in their custody for him to do such a thing. He certainly knows the effect he has on American voters, and having McCain in power would be excellent for him because it would ensure further instability in the middle east.
