Ever since the government came out against parents responsibly punishing their children, our society has become overrun with obnoxious, irresponsible little monsters. It's not difficult to instill a sense of fear into your child. I still do it to my friends children.
I have never raised my hand to any child, yet when I visit they are on their best behavior. It is understood that I won't put up with any garbage - and the child is unsure how I would react if they did misbehave. Which gives me plenty of room to insinuate with voice-tone, body language, and the look in my eye, that they DO NOT want to find out what would happen.
PS: Children growing up right now: "The world is not your oyster, no one will give it to you, and it is NOT your right to not have your feeling hurt ever. Just like everyone thru history you too will need to build up a thick skin and learn that you can often out-think a bully.
