- DeskFlyer, on 11/10/2009, -13/+89Here in the US you can get thrown in jail simply due to a woman claiming you raped her, no evidence required.
- Floobins, on 11/10/2009, -8/+61The main problem here is that a lot of women simply MAKE ***** UP.
- burgerkinghorn, on 11/09/2009, -2/+54There was a South Park episode relating to this issue:
http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/155304
But in all serious, this is a positive thing to see kids coming forward and reporting the crimes. - pussnuts, on 11/10/2009, -2/+53@ Alli3388: I don't know where you live but Men and Women stand up against rapists pretty much all the time. I have seen guys kick other guys out of bars because they were being too pushy or hands on. When I'm out with my fiancee and her friends I am always watching out for the other girls too.
Nobody here is talking about womens mistrust of men. We're all talking about the ***** that goes on when a women crys rape and automatically it is assumed the man has indeed raped the women. Then you find out later it was his ex-gf he was just trying to break up with. Meanwhile this guy lost his job, reputation, and might even have ended up on a sex offenders list for something he didn't even do.
You should stand up against the lying bitches who give other women a bad name. I never hear women coming to the police and calling ***** when they find out one of their friends is making up a story.
Anyways its not the 1990s anymore. White men in the USA are tired of being stereotyped as creepy rapist child molesters. - bubbameister33, on 11/10/2009, -0/+49The whole time everyone was afraid of "Creepy" Uncle Pete it was "Sweet" Aunt Francine the whole time.
- RealmDown, on 11/10/2009, -1/+42@Alli3388: So if a man is alone, deep in the woods with no woman around to hear him, and he speaks --- is he still wrong ?
- NinjAlt, on 11/10/2009, -1/+37@Alli3388: No, its not the womans fault when they feel "threatened and mistrusting of men". However it doesnt help when a woman corrupts the system with false claims. Also. I'm less for "Womens rights" and more for equality for all. You deserve the same rights as everyone else should have. Not extra rights to 50% of someones property just to "get what you deserve" when you've never worked a day in your life. No extra right to take a mans kids just because he pissed you off. No extra right to a promotion in a company over a better and harder worker just so the company doesnt have to deal with the situation because you scream sexism over a man being promoted over you. Equality for all.
- filovirus, on 11/10/2009, -3/+38This is not a joke. It happened to me when I was 4. My life has been a mess ever since.
- Killingintexas, on 11/10/2009, -0/+28Its not happening anymore than before its just being reported more .
- TobiasParker, on 11/10/2009, -7/+33***** tell me about it, i am afraid to even flirt with people at a bar half of the time. ***** is ridiculous.
- Bangaarang, on 11/10/2009, -4/+23I thought women were always the victim.
- RealmDown, on 11/10/2009, -2/+21You're on Digg. This makes you to immune to women.
- BlackCat, on 11/10/2009, -2/+20The cat is out of the bag. It's becoming more and more socially acceptable to reveal this. It's been a silent pandemic, partly due to "man's pride" in males where it they are shamed in not admitting this has happened. I anticipate a full out explosion of sexual assault claims against women.
- TobiasParker, on 11/10/2009, -1/+17You don't need a conviction to ruin someones life.
- maotx, on 11/10/2009, -1/+17I can easily recall experiences from when I was three. More so when I was four.
- SNESChalmers, on 11/10/2009, -0/+15Sorry man, that sucks.
- Hetman, on 11/10/2009, -1/+13I agree. We teach boys to only tell about sex abuse crime when it comes to other males. We systematically tell them that when a women touches you it is the greatest thing ever. Which it is when you are of age and so is the women you are with.
- darkstar949, on 11/10/2009, -1/+12People generally find it easier to remember traumatic experiences (even at a young age) than they do to remember happy experiences.
- JohnGalt750, on 11/10/2009, -1/+12@alli3388
In reality women abuse men just as much as men abuse women. The only difference is that people give a ***** when a women gets abused or taken advantage of.
The idea of "standing up for women's rights" became not my problem when standing up for their rights meant abrogating my own. - Zerohcool, on 11/10/2009, -0/+11Your not to good at detecting sarcasm huh?
- SemiSarcastic, on 11/10/2009, -1/+12These threads wouldn't be complete without the token internet douche bag here to weigh in on this story.
- PeanutCheeseBar, on 11/10/2009, -1/+11If you actively want for a woman to do that, it won't exactly be "molestation" if she actually did it.
- zinc6471, on 11/10/2009, -3/+13it used to be the women who was raped had to prove it was rape or sexual harassment
good times huh? - scamper22, on 11/10/2009, -2/+11anyone been catching the wave of violence in female soccer?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_J4Uj-q6lQ&fea ...
The idea that women are more gentle or kinder or caring than men is just not true. As they are exposed to world of competition, earning their money, success... they will become just as 'evil' as they have painted men. I would say, they are more likely to be more viscous as right now, few scrutinize them as much as men.
It's called equality... comes with the good...and the bad.
To doubt that women desire control, manipulation, sexual deviance... is to doubt their equality. - ItsMeEmilyG, on 11/10/2009, -1/+10Thanks to Law & Order SVU for making sex crimes (and reporting) mainstream.
- o76923, on 11/10/2009, -0/+9So if for your 13th birthday your mother rammed a 8" long 3" wide candle up your ass you'd be ok with it?
- darkstar949, on 11/10/2009, -0/+8Depends on what the original poster is implying. From the literal standpoint, they are indeed correct in that someone accused of a violent crime is typically taken into police custody and more often than not, can spend some time in lockup. From an actual conviction standpoint, historically there have been instances where the accused where convicted without physical evidence, this does happen and you can do case searches for it.
- DonLinguine, on 11/10/2009, -1/+9My name is Pete and I'm not sure if I should be offended or relieved.
- darkstar949, on 11/10/2009, -1/+9Also, in regards to the statistics you are presenting, it appears that it being implied that they are counting each rape as being done by a different person which isn't always the case. In fact, I seem to recall that generally the same person is involved with multiple rapes (either with different victims or with the same) which can greatly skew the numbers.
- Millertime73, on 11/10/2009, -2/+10How about convictions for false accusations of rape? Oh yeah, they practically don't exist...
- maotx, on 11/10/2009, -0/+8Talk about bad luck...
"The research said nearly two-thirds (1,311) of the claims it received about sex abuse by a female involved the child's mother. " - Ocyris, on 11/10/2009, -1/+9surprise buttsecks!
- spworm, on 11/10/2009, -0/+8One more notorious case involved this bombshell who worked at a nursery: (picture)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/8347589.stm
Clearly she's a boys' preschool fantasy.
(e:wrong link right now) - Fartbandit, on 11/10/2009, -0/+7From the article.
"The research said nearly two-thirds (1,311) of the claims it received about sex abuse by a female involved the child's mother."
So if your own MOTHER fiddled with your little bits against your will you would consider that lucky??? Each to their own i suppose... - darkstar949, on 11/10/2009, -0/+7My statement that wrongful convictions occur is not a straw man argument because it is on topic, I was addressing the grandparents original statement from two different angles. Namely, from a literal standpoint that an accusation can land you in jail and also from the standpoint that what was likely meant in regards to actual convictions.
Also, there really isn't any good way of telling the gender of the original poster nor can it really be determined if they meant that statement in a misogynic way. In fact, one could argue that making that assumption could imply that you are a misandrist.
Furthermore, the statement isn't line with comment that is blatantly trolling, it is on topic for the article being discussed and while it might be heavily skewed towards someone's option (since they aren't backing it with evidence) it doesn't seem very fair to call the poster a troll when you compare that comment with what has been said in other discussions of this article.
- ygeoff419, on 11/10/2009, -1/+8I feel your pain dude, mine was from age 4 till about 8 by a very close relative.... I was able to bury the ***** for a long time but slowly I can see something surfacing and I have turned to self medication and whatever else blocks the thoughts but its not working anymore..... what the ***** to do now? Hope your struggle with this ends well and you find your peace.
@wynja yes remembering traumatic things from childhood is common, I have memories in very vivid details.... I wish they were just planted memories, that would make ***** a lot easier.
- TheLotusEater, on 11/10/2009, -1/+8About ***** time we took a look at this... Maybe now men will stop being demonized on television. Probably not, but still...
According to wikipedia: "The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reports that for each year between 2000 and 2005, "female parents acting alone" were most likely to be perpetrators of child abuse.[11]" - Patogrande, on 11/10/2009, -0/+7You know, both the title and the preview sentence for this submission are pretty ambiguous.
- o76923, on 11/10/2009, -9/+15I hate to rain on your parade, but rape convictions are abysmal. Only 39% of rapes are reported to the police, of those 51% result in an arrest, of those 80% lead to prosecution, of those 58% are convicted, of those 69% receive jail time as a punishment. That means only about 6% of rapists serve jail time as a result of conviction, or about 1 in 16.
The court of public opinion is vaguely aware of the discrepancy between rapes and convictions so we try to compensate by taking it out on everyone who is accused. If the judicial process worked better and we had better victims advocates this wouldn't be a problem.
These numbers are aggregated by RAINN and collected by the US Justice Department, the Bureau of Justice Statistics, and the National Center for Policy Analysis and is available to be viewed http://rainn.org/get-information/statistics/report ... - Kaminczak, on 11/10/2009, -1/+7...reporting sexual abuse by woman...
Which woman? - pussnuts, on 11/10/2009, -1/+7@doctressjulia This has nothing to do with a patriarchy. You judge the entire male gender as misogynists just after accusing me of hate speech. You hypocrite!
There are constant news stories after news stories right here on digg that puts the word of a woman against the word of a man. In all of those stories where the male ends up being inocent, he was initially assumed to be guilty and made a spectical of. You are living in a fantasy world if you believe that women never make up a story of rape for their own gain. I would even go as far to say that it happens more than just occasionally.
I was born in 1979, grew up in the 1990s. In all of my experiences I have never seen men put down women. I have never seen men promoted over women. Indeed, I have seen women get placed in a head of men with equal credentials at college universities and job promotions. You should be happy! Your war on men is over and women won big time! Now please, stop making ***** up and blaming us for ***** we didnt do! - Takfam, on 11/10/2009, -1/+6To hell with that, where are all these horny women NOW? Conjugal visits ftw!
- SplashBot, on 11/25/2009, -5/+10Where were all these horny women when I was a kid? talk about luck....
Seriously though, I'm glad more people are reporting these crimes. - darkstar949, on 11/10/2009, -0/+5@doctressjulia - Who is that comment directed at? The user wynja was implying that the grandparent poster filovirus was lying in regards to their statement. maotx and myself were both pointing out that the age of someone is somewhat irrelevant when it comes to what they remember when it comes to traumatic experiences.
- darkstar949, on 11/11/2009, -0/+4@jaydedrag0n - 8% of reports is too many for a serious crime like rape.
- FormerBabby, on 11/10/2009, -1/+5I've been waiting for this.
- kurocrow, on 11/10/2009, -0/+4Taking sexual abuse more seriously? Cookies for all.
- SemiSarcastic, on 11/10/2009, -0/+4That's it sir, I challenge you to a douche off!
- ygeoff419, on 11/10/2009, -0/+4I think crosaks would be.
- sinurgy, on 11/10/2009, -0/+4Which honestly doesn't mean all that much until they actually start punishing these women.
