- AmICoolNow, on 09/14/2008, -9/+416Ann Widdecombe: 'We've already apologised for slavery and the Crusades. When is it all going to stop?'
Yeah, why would you want to apologize for little things like that? In other news, Ann Widdecombe is hideous. - inactive, on 09/14/2008, -9/+320Is this from the onion???
- liquisoft, on 09/14/2008, -5/+284I just want to point something out from the article:
"The Church is also anxious to counter the view that its teaching is incompatible with science. It wants to distance itself from fundamentalist Christians, who believe in the Biblical account of the creation of the world in seven days."
The Church itself, an establishment created around the Bible, is saying that fundamentalist Christians are incorrect in that they take the Bible completely literally.
Read that one more time if you didn't get the significance. The Church is saying the Bible isn't literal, and shouldn't be taken literally.
Have any fundies' heads exploded yet? - gnomead, on 09/14/2008, -13/+236Palin could learn a thing or two from the Church of England.
- aurorion, on 09/14/2008, -11/+161See Palin? (And other creationists!)
You can be religious, you can be super-Christians, and still not be complete retards.
When bishops can accept evolution as a scientific phenomenon and move on, why can't the stupid dumb creationists? - webkami, on 09/14/2008, -2/+144No, it is The Onion's British cousin The Daily Mail.
- inactive, on 09/14/2008, -12/+146Haha...awesome. Viva La Evolucion!
- BoSuu, on 09/14/2008, -59/+177How about apologizing for three thousand years of lies.
- yoshman, on 09/14/2008, -1/+110She looks like Emperor Palpatine in a wig. :'(
- Darcius, on 09/14/2008, -2/+98I wonder if the church realises they have a Sith Lord in their ranks.
- neillawson, on 09/14/2008, -6/+102Science FTW
- borsaid, on 09/14/2008, -4/+89She wouldn't even find England on a map, let alone know there was a church there.
- sidianmsjones, on 09/14/2008, -3/+81I can't believe what I'm reading.
- Birdoftruth, on 09/14/2008, -15/+93Hmm that's funny last time I checked The church of England came about in the Renaissance. Is there something I'm missing or are you just retarded?
- XedLos, on 09/14/2008, -2/+71Isnt the Church of England the one that was made by some king who wanted to marry some other bitch so he said ***** to the pope so he made his own church?
- thelif, on 09/14/2008, -3/+70This is definitely a step in the right direction. Thank you world.
- Zervaman, on 09/14/2008, -17/+83Let's tally up the score so far:
Science: 3,423,493
Religion: 0 - pintomp3, on 09/14/2008, -1/+61not every country is blessed enough to be viewing distance from her house.
- GorfTron, on 09/14/2008, -2/+62Ann Widdecombe, Resident Evil called. They want their zombie costume back.

- Gndoab, on 09/14/2008, -4/+57on top of that, christianity has been around for two thousand.
- hoikarnage, on 09/14/2008, -11/+62Wait, people still care what the church has to say?
- EmperorOfCheese, on 09/14/2008, -1/+51No, we evolved from a common ancestor.
- inactive, on 09/14/2008, -1/+47is she ever! imagine waking up to that every morning
- UncleCrapper, on 09/14/2008, -7/+50Now if we could only get the remaining Christians to do the same.
- jpwhitmore, on 09/14/2008, -0/+43ya. That's the one
- prisoner24601, on 09/14/2008, -6/+48"Are you retarded? He's talking about Christianity in general."
Think about this. Ask yourself when Jesus Christ lived. Christianity does not predate Christ. - inactive, on 09/14/2008, -0/+38jackspade: you were buried because you misunderstood the theory of evolution. That's not what it says
- borsaid, on 09/14/2008, -0/+37If I woke up to that in the morning, it would be my last morning. Ever.
- IllBeBack, on 09/14/2008, -0/+36Sure you would.
- inactive, on 09/14/2008, -0/+35in your case, yes.
- idavidtang, on 09/14/2008, -0/+34they can't because of his mind tricks.
- KublaiKhan, on 09/14/2008, -0/+33"The Church of England will tomorrow officially apologise to Charles Darwin for misunderstanding his theory of evolution."
Now, with my emphasis:
"The CHURCH OF ENGLAND will tomorrow officially apologise to Charles Darwin for misunderstanding his theory of evolution."
That is, no Pope. - TheAmazingBob, on 09/14/2008, -3/+36...Are they expecting an "I accept your apology?"
- LightSpeed4, on 09/14/2008, -29/+62These digg comments are horrible and not funny
- MrChunks, on 09/14/2008, -0/+33No really, he isn't. He's got a book published and grandchildren.
- gullyben, on 09/14/2008, -1/+34Glad you pointed this out, hope this comment makes it up higher
- SifuMoKung, on 09/14/2008, -3/+35From Wikipedia ...
"The Church of England scientific establishment, including Darwin’s old Cambridge tutors Sedgwick and Henslow, reacted against the book, though it was well received by a younger generation of professional naturalists. In 1860, the publication of Essays and Reviews by seven liberal Anglican theologians diverted clerical attention from Darwin."
This is interesting because it illustrates how churches evolve like organisms to survive in new environments. With membership down, it's probably better to have a more realistic approach in a more educated society. The Mormons "evolved" away from polygamy and also changed to allow blacks into the Malchezdik priesthood. I wonder what will threaten the American dinosaur of "Evangelicals" and non-denominational super churches to adapt their views? - bieber, on 09/14/2008, -5/+37That's not "The church." That's "a church." Bigggg difference.
- s0l0s0ul, on 09/14/2008, -1/+33Stupidity should always be apologized for when it stifles progress.
- sirmo, on 09/14/2008, -1/+32That sounded like a tag line from the Onion.
- themastersb, on 09/14/2008, -2/+32She should apologize for having such a horrible face.
- LightUrple, on 09/14/2008, -2/+32Bad comparison. George Washington is no longer around, so he can't apologize, but if he were alive I would think he'd be compelled to apologize for owning slaves.
The United States congress on the other hand did apologize recently for it's part in slavery, as they should have done decades ago. The U.S. congress is an institution that was around during slavery, facilitated and profited from slavery, and is still in existence today. That is a better comparison to the Church of England and Darwin. - Vector713, on 09/14/2008, -5/+34As a Muslim, you shouldn't be hating anyone.
*****. - Sagags, on 09/14/2008, -1/+30please stop! your extreme smartness is to much for our little brains to understand!
