- LeonDiggsby, on 10/27/2009, -1/+16Yeah... we should do that.
We might as well accept that a close alliance with China would be good for everyone involved. They already *are* a superpower. - fwertz, on 10/27/2009, -2/+15If before fear mongering. Ah, *****...
- gcnaddict, on 10/27/2009, -3/+16There's a very simple reason for this. Let's look at the following analogy:
If you are $100,000 in debt with a bank, you're ***** if you default, and the bank will repossess everything you own. If you are $1,000,000,000 in debt with a bank, you're safe.
It's the same idea, only with higher sums of money. China isn't about to shoot itself in the foot. - puddininmyeye, on 10/27/2009, -1/+13I could say the same thing about the Chinese...you're argument is just as typical as mine. I think the US has done some pretty bad stuff but, we are still better off than with China in charge.
- iwashere2, on 10/27/2009, -3/+12China wants to be the next super power. No doubt about it.
- puddininmyeye, on 10/27/2009, -1/+9"Except the average Chinese is much more informed about foreign affairs"
Well, I can see this argument is going to be nothing but unsubstantiated claims and ***** from both of us...but are you seriously claiming that the US is more repressive and abusive to it's own people than China? I don't think anyone but China would agree with you on that one. - puddininmyeye, on 10/27/2009, -3/+10Because The world would be a better place with China in charge. The US may commit atrocities but at least they treat their own citizens like they are civilized people unlike China, who also perpetuates the Sudan genocide btw. Get over your butthurt about the US foreign policy and realize China could give even less of a ***** about you.
- inactive, on 10/27/2009, -0/+7I hate to break it to everyone, but China's military doesn't even come close to what the American's currently have. I say this not as an American, but as an outsider. US military spending has outstriped Chinese military spending by many multiples for decades and will probably continue to do so. Now, if you want to make projections about who's economy will collapse etc, be my guest, however as it stands the US has the most technologically advanced military in the world, by a very large margin.
- DeadpoolPHP, on 10/27/2009, -0/+7Oh stop blaming ***** on video games. Kids have always played war, in the 1950's it was with fake guns made out of sticks, in 2009 it's with Halo.
- toxicshok, on 10/27/2009, -1/+6The Chinese aren't anymore informed than Americans. They still sit around and wave their flags and talk about how the world is bearing down on them. Personally I'm happy that those planes and satellites are there. They serve as a counterweight to Chinese intelligence network.
- stonebear, on 10/27/2009, -2/+7And on the other hand; suppose you owe a notoriously despotic and brutal foreign government much much more than that. So much, in fact; that both parties know the creditor will never be repaid. Yet, in spite of your mind boggling incompetence and greed otherwise; you somehow were able to use some of that borrowed money to build the most powerful and sophisticated army in the world.
And in the midst of all the smiles and backslapping, your creditor is building his army up as fast as his virtually unlimited resources allow, while your dismal credit rating effectively caps your own. You move to take the food out of the mouths of your people, and the roofs from above their heads to pay for it; but the banks which you work for have been there first, and long since invested the proceeds in your enemy. But never-the-less; you proceed in the supreme confidence that this scenario can only end well for you because your creditor knows you are too big to fail, and has promised his eternal good will because he has no other options than to continue supporting your incompetence and greed. - aron1185, on 10/27/2009, -0/+4We are the only country in the world with a 5th generation fighter jet (See the F-22 and the F-35 JSF), and will be for quite some time... I think it has been estimated that it will take other countries some 50 years to develop the technology needed to effectively engage them.
Until then, I'm not very worried. - absurdist, on 10/27/2009, -1/+5How, with that level of inanity, do you still remain able to type and breathe simultaneously?
- inactive, on 10/27/2009, -0/+4uhhhhh zombie captain planet?
- toxicshok, on 10/27/2009, -0/+4/s
- Ahmon, on 10/27/2009, -1/+4Bad fiction aside, China isn't in an opposed position to the United States. Don't let propaganda fool you.
- Snowyp, on 10/27/2009, -0/+2"What are the odds of Taiwan reuniting with mainland China?"
My answer (prediction) : "Not in my or your lifetime, my friend." - gcnaddict, on 10/27/2009, -0/+2"you proceed in the supreme confidence that this scenario can only end well for you because your creditor knows you are too big to fail, and has promised his eternal good will because he has no other options than to continue supporting your incompetence and greed."
Yeah, basically. China won't attack the US because they'll lose out on whatever they may need to get back (and they'll destroy their biggest export market which is working in their favor).
China will probably use this to take out neighboring countries, yes, but not the US. - CanIGetAWitness, on 10/27/2009, -0/+2The Firefly world will be realised...maybe.
- Idonteven, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1What are the odds of Taiwan reuniting with mainland China? Would the PRC ridding itself of communism have any affect?
- toxicshok, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1Ok, who else does China have?
- fuckingusername, on 10/27/2009, -4/+5lets hope it's true, will see when the final count-down with Iran comes to par
- aron1185, on 10/29/2009, -0/+1While I won't argue with you on war being stupid and a waste of life, I will argue that the J11 and its variants are basically a chinese kit version of the Su-27 which is a 4th generation fighter, and even its impressive predecessor the Su-35 is a 4.5 generation fighter.
The advancements made in stealth technology are essentially what make a a fighter a 5th gen. With that said, I don't there are any missles yet developed that can effectively engage the f-22 or JSF. Once again, I'm not citing any sources so I could be off, but I believe that only advanced short-range 'heat-seeking' missiles are the only thing capable of locking onto a 5th generation fighter. But in order to use them you have to find them visually and close in on them. By that point the 5th gens advancements in radar technology will have already found fighters 4.5 and below.
Not saying they are bulletproof, but in war for the last several decades, air-superiority has proven vital to success on the battlefield (heaven forbid that there is one.)
The US has been running on the military industrial complex for around half a century now. Not a good thing, but at least we have gotten some damn good hardware out of it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Chosin_Rese ...
I know, I know, that was a lot of random stuff. Just talking military tech. - tsotha, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1They have 1.3 billion people. Who else do they need? But that's not the point. The point is the idea of taking this kind of thing seriously is misguided. China has territorial ambitions in Taiwan, and as long as the US is prepared to frustrate those ambitions there won't be any closer ties.
- PandaBearShenyu, on 10/27/2009, -5/+6The way in which every average American basically utters the same ***** when they're prompted about foreign matters is disturbing, it's like an army of lemmings. Your news media outlets have really done a great job at brainwashing the masses.
- hellbent187, on 10/28/2009, -0/+1Sounds like they're getting ready to collect on their money, or else...
- masamunecyrus, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1China's air force can't even take out Taiwan, which is powered by old American technology, let alone modern American forces. Without air superiority, no one is able to extend their military influence out much farther than just beyond their borders.
- FactorVIII, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1and "certainly not the United States"
somehow, that worries me. - Khiva, on 10/27/2009, -1/+2"LOL, look at team america getting all defensive, cute."
PandaBearShenyu, I seem to recall that you are the one who leaps into every thread which even glancingly mentions China to rant on about how China is the Greatest Country Ever and America is the Worst Thing Since Satan. A helpful tip: if you're going to try to make a point that Americans are rude, ill-informed and belligerent, it helps to not be rude, ill-informed and belligerent.
But to perfectly honest, I've had more productive conversations with fundamentalist Republicans than with shrill, screeching 愤青 like yourself, so I really have to question why I'm wasting my time. Why don't you head back to strongnationforum where the Chinese nationalist hivemind buzzes in pefect unison and stop wasting our time as well. - masamunecyrus, on 10/27/2009, -0/+1Slightly greater than the odds of Canada reuniting with England.
- ramilehti, on 10/29/2009, -0/+1Modern J11 variants are quite impressive actually.
And China has the industrial capacity crank out those things by the hundreds if push comes to shove.
Also China is ahead in submarine technology. It has nuclear weapons. Effective propaganda and electronic warfare machinery.
Definitely not a nation you want to go to war with.
All wars are stupid waste of human life, effort and resources. There are better ways to resolve conflicts.
And no, I don't mean creating standing conflicts like China/Taiwan, China/India, India/Pakistan, North/South Korea, Israel/Palestine, US/Cuba. - rizzono, on 10/28/2009, -0/+1People around the world, don't be fooled. China has the largest espionage program in the world against your countries, especially America. Why would America be opening their military to a country that shows them nothing in return. We continue to help them and they only will use it against us in the future. Do you think the Chinese care about you? They only care about Chinese people. Chinese spies are in your top universities as students, in your businesses, in your government, in your military, all working together to steal your technology and knowledge.
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/spy/ ...
Even recently a Chinese was caught stealing information from America car companies,
http://www.reuters.com/article/domesticNews/idUSTR ...
Why is American military foolishly showing all to the Chinese? Why is America helping another nation sink their own ships.
http://www.commentarymagazine.com/blogs/index.php/ ...
You will notice that there are people on these forums that want to speak against this. They don't want the average person to know their plan. China even employs many people to set up many types of businesses in your countries to lobby for their country and their products to flood your markets so they will have a stranglehold on the production of the world's good and also they are trying to go after resources now. These companies even monitor popular news sites, blogs, and forums even like this to lobby for Chinese interests. Don't be fooled people.
Here is a good blog that exposes some of the real plans of China.
http://spkntruth.blogs.experienceproject.com/
Boycott Chinese goods and products. Don't help their plans to conquer and leave you with nothing. Many today willingly help them by freely sharing their hard earned knowledge and get nothing in return. Don't let this silent threat continue, you must unite together to put and end to this in your country. - stonebear, on 10/27/2009, -1/+1All the former colonies of the European and US empires.
- PandaBearShenyu, on 10/27/2009, -3/+3LOL, look at team america getting all defensive, cute.
"WAT! He said osmething bad bout er country! bettar start using dem wards liek Oppressive and socialism and communisms an shi."
Generalizations exist because it is often true. it's not very difficult to generalize when a whole country do the same thing, watch the same thing, are fed the same news, brought up the same way, made with the same mold as every other drone. There are few things in this world more comedic than an American who went to Canada once, who thinks he knows what the world is like. Like a toad looking up from the bottom of a well. - Snowyp, on 10/27/2009, -3/+3I think... China is the next super power ALREADY.
- PandaBearShenyu, on 10/27/2009, -2/+2God forbid one Chinese troll appears amongst a sea of American trolls, what are you getting so butthurt about? Oh that's right, I'm not buzzing to the American nationalist hivemind amirite?
- dycc07, on 10/27/2009, -3/+2stop painting americans with a broad brush, your cliched generalizations about the "arrogant xenophobic" parroting what we're told by the media is downright wrong. i think it's ironic that you'd call us brainwashed when chinese state media is nothing but an instrument of mindcontrol, perhaps you've drank the coolaid(tea) once too many times?
- tsotha, on 10/27/2009, -3/+1http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Comintern_Pact
On September 25, 1940, Ribbentrop sent a telegram to Vyacheslav Molotov, the Soviet foreign minister, informing him that Germany, Italy and Japan were about to sign a military alliance. Ribbentrop tried to reassure Molotov by claiming that this alliance was to be directed towards the United States and not the Soviet Union:
"Its exclusive purpose is to bring the elements pressing for America's entry into the war to their senses by conclusively demonstrating to them if they enter the present struggle they will automatically have to deal with the three great powers as adversaries." - skeptictank, on 10/27/2009, -3/+1"The Chinese aren't anymore informed than Americans. They still sit around and wave their flags and talk about how the world is bearing down on them. " I used to live there and I agree to a point, they are very nationalistic. Their access to information, if they have it at all is far more restricted than ours. It's our own "Let's wave flags, America's blessed by God blind patriotism" types that bother me.
- defaultusername, on 10/27/2009, -5/+2Keep your friends close...
- nullcodes, on 10/27/2009, -9/+4You make a good point that's probably true. However, your analogy is incomplete or sucks. Take it back to the analogy lab pls.
IIRC, the way i heard this one before is from a different angle. - PandaBearShenyu, on 10/27/2009, -9/+3Except the average Chinese is much more informed about foreign affairs than Americans who like to continually bask in a masturbatory celebration of American xenophobia and arrogance. It may be hard to believe, but no one actually likes Americans, for the simple fact that the most brainwashed people in the world have the nerve to utter words like freedom when they themselves have long forgotten what that word truly means.
- PandaBearShenyu, on 10/27/2009, -13/+6U.S. doesn't like that China is modernizing. Yet at the same time U.S. has spy ships and planes hovering just outside Chinese waters 24/7, with spy satellites overhead. America's military strategy involves bullying someone till they give in, good thing China is actually doing something about this *****. Such arrogance is unbecoming.
Unfortunately, this thread will be filled with kids who grew up playing Halo, who think war is cool. - boogerthecat, on 10/27/2009, -17/+4When the economy collapses, and Obama asks for UN Peacekeepers, one guess who will be there to shoot you if you don't collaborate.
- Rascal373, on 10/27/2009, -22/+8Well, China's the new super power, I sure as hell don't wish to go with war with China even though it seems somewhat inevitable.....
