- 3tcp, on 07/26/2008, -8/+63If you google 'june 3 1989' and find no mention of the tiananmen square massacre then you aren't really using the internet. Buried as inaccurate.
- DigSomeMore, on 07/26/2008, -1/+35We all knew that was coming...
- 42Vindictive, on 07/26/2008, -3/+28You mean theres a correlation between number of people and number of internet users? Stop the *****' presses.
- tbrand86, on 07/26/2008, -4/+25Crazy, but the United States still has more computer owners.
- leontes, on 07/27/2008, -1/+18Ok, troll, I know you are troll, but this is for everyone else who may not understand you are a troll:

Stop signing your posts. Your name is on your left side. - inactive, on 07/27/2008, -3/+19If you don't look at gay midgit porn, you aren't really using the internet.
- philodygmn, on 07/27/2008, -2/+12Meanwhile, thanks to their censors, they account for much less of actual Internet _usage_.
- Tanktunker, on 07/27/2008, -1/+10Well, that or the media feels capitalizing on other things is easier, and since you live in a country with a free market economy, the PRIVATE media can report on whatever the hell they want.
People make the error of assuming that private media companies still have an obligation to be "watchdogs of democracies" way too much. - dabura, on 07/27/2008, -3/+11....um ya? With all those WOW farmers
- tokyowalker, on 07/26/2008, -0/+7and i was asking why YOUKU is so damn slow

ROFL - justiceape, on 07/27/2008, -1/+8Hey guess what. Internet 2 is going to make our Internet just like China. Oh, you said something negative about the government?! Guess what. You're a terrorist. Oh, and you're going to pay per site as well on your monthly bill. If the site you want to go to isn't on your provider's little basket of sites in their basic fee, you pay. And they'll know everywhere you've gone, so they can tailor a psychological marketing / security profile on you. Uh oh, John Smith has some "suspicious" activity based on our algorithms. That triggers a home visit by the ***** DHS rent-a-cops that are going to be everywhere in the next few years. Obama mentioned them the other day, in a very nice way.

Hey, they're not here to intimidate you! Just want to ask you some questions is all. You don't have anything to hide, do you? So there's no reason to worry! And there's not going to be any free speech, because all the networks will be company-owned, and therefore not a "public place." Can't wait, it's gonna be fun! No rights, just "privileges."
Before you scoff, I suggest you look up US history during World War I. They had gangs of literal brown shirts roaming the streets press-ganging young men into enlisting in the Army, and terrorizing and intimidating people into buying war bonds. It was called the American Protective League. There were over 200,000 of them, and they weren't the only ones engaging in this police-state third-world *****. Just because they weren't called "cadres" or "Brown Shirts" over here doesn't mean that's not what they were, or what they will be.
So yeah, this just triggered a rant. Internet in China reminded me that we're going to have a revival of the American Protective League here in the US from the bogus GWOT, and the Internet is going to be a big part of it. "Oh, it's so old, we have to replace it!" Watch, here it comes. - bitterscream, on 07/26/2008, -2/+8Even though it is censored people still want in.
- JazJon, on 07/26/2008, -2/+8All your IP's are belong to us
- rz8472, on 07/27/2008, -0/+6China rarely outright bans anything; it might have been a concession before the Olympics. But certain sites such as the BBC are purposely run slow enough that most people don't even bother visiting to begin with.
- jjb123, on 07/27/2008, -0/+6What?
- twiztidsinz, on 07/27/2008, -0/+5orly?
The beauty of written languages that dont use a latin based alphabet.. variance in the transliteration of words is acceptable.
Mao Zedong pronunciation (help·info) (Simplified Chinese: 毛泽东; Traditional Chinese: 毛澤東; Pinyin: Máo Zédōng; Wade-Giles: Mao Tse-tung); - inactive, on 07/27/2008, -0/+5Greg, funniest post all day.
- leontes, on 07/27/2008, -5/+10這是完全不正確的。中文發言者不超過以英語為母語的。
- twiztidsinz, on 07/27/2008, -0/+4obvioustroll is obvious?
- BelatedHero, on 07/27/2008, -0/+4Anyone know if Digg is banned as part of China's internet censoring? Just curious.
- googleabcd, on 07/27/2008, -0/+44 times...That is why US people suck at math
- inactive, on 07/27/2008, -2/+6What's the difference between USA's and China's internet? China is openly admitting it's censoring it.
- fpaudon, on 07/27/2008, -0/+4Before you make a bigger fool of yourself, visit China sometime. 75% of the traffic on the street are taxis. Nobody even bothers owning a car in China, because the fares are dirt cheap; cheaper than buying gasoline. Besides, driver's ed there is hellishly difficult.
- appleseed1234, on 07/27/2008, -0/+4Are you out of your mind?
- zirkle2007, on 07/27/2008, -0/+4You sir, are a dumb ass.
- SubjectiveC, on 07/27/2008, -1/+5Yeah, well, I can use Google. You know, the full version of the internet. I win.
- HappyScrappy, on 07/27/2008, -2/+6Although I don't doubt they will pass the US, I don't trust the Chinese to give accurate counts of anything that could relate to national pride, either in a positive way (like this) or a negative way (like carbon emissions).
Remember the constant lies about how many people had SARS? - Naieve, on 07/27/2008, -0/+4Is it me or is Greg ***** crazy?
- idavidtang, on 07/27/2008, -5/+9@GregLouwitts
Have you even been to China? Before you let loose your ignorance, go there. You will see an internet cafe almost at every block in some cities.
Looks like you're an idiot.
David Tang - Kikkoman, on 07/27/2008, -2/+5their trial version is faster than our platinum version
- rottencod, on 07/27/2008, -0/+3Not if you count all our alts...
- Justice101, on 07/27/2008, -0/+3I don't think this should count since China technically uses Internet Light. It's to the internet what Bud Light is to a pint of Guiness...crap.
- inactive, on 07/27/2008, -0/+3It's freer than Iraq.
- DuffyDirect, on 07/27/2008, -0/+3the internet is for porn
- Evi1d33d, on 07/27/2008, -0/+3They also surpass US in the number of English speakers.
- UserNull, on 07/27/2008, -2/+5It's the god damn Red Menace!! Is there nothing sacred to them at all?
- BluFire, on 07/27/2008, -0/+3well of course china has more people than us
- Badman996, on 07/27/2008, -1/+4Not really that surprising when china has more gold farmers then the U.S. has people.
- Tanktunker, on 07/27/2008, -0/+3Go peddle your wares elsewhere.
- Mcdz, on 07/27/2008, -0/+3OK, I just want to clear something up. I'm tired of all the people saying how China has 3948209384109843209850943285 people vs. 1 in the US.. The news article is just pointing out the number of people using the internet has surpassed the US at this moment. aka China has just caught up with the US in internet users recently.. It's not trying to make a political point or say China is winning in the internet users race... It's obvious China will someday surpass the US in internet users, but it was never obvious when, and that's what this article is saying. So stop making these stupid population comparisons, it's not what this article is talking about.
- googleabcd, on 07/27/2008, -0/+210 million automobiles were sold in China last years, you can recaculate your numbers
- reed311, on 07/27/2008, -0/+2Yeah, but it should also be noted that their Internet is heavily censored and that they use their Internet mainly from cafes.
- inactive, on 07/27/2008, -1/+3At least in America we can look at anything we want. Try to Google "dedmocracy" in China and see what happens.
- s1mph0ny, on 07/27/2008, -0/+2Oh come on, they barely have 46928626792869671 billion people.
- inactive, on 07/27/2008, -1/+3@ScarabLordCoral - dugg for reminding me how funny I was when I was 7
- inactive, on 07/27/2008, -0/+2But china has to feed 10 times more people than the US, how is it a fair comparison? It just is.
- jamessavik, on 07/27/2008, -0/+2Gooks and spooks and fags and drags and dykes and kykes,
Wetbacks and beaners,
Zionists and sons of Mohammad,
geeks and wieners,
Wasps and Catholics,
Drunks and junkies and mental flunkies:
All here and fighting it out on the net.
It's really too late to say no to hate
Cuz we all live too close together.
If we stay up all night on the internet and fight,
At least we won't nuke each other. - inactive, on 07/27/2008, -0/+2What the hell are you rambling about?
It never ceases to amaze me how idiots like you don't understand the phrase, "time and place". -
