- sideffects, on 02/17/2008, -7/+167That is absolutely ridiculous and pointless
- vervalsing, on 02/17/2008, -5/+112The Chinese government is just kicking itself in the ass over and over again with all these "precautions" they're taking to try and make their country look appealing to foreigners who come for the Olympics. I would encourage people to boycott the Olympics, but for the life of me I can't think of anyone who actually gives a ***** about them.
- whatthefu, on 02/17/2008, -11/+101A Communist society regulating morality. Huh.
- sanman, on 02/17/2008, -1/+74ghosts of tiananmen
ghosts from the cultural revolution
ghosts of tibet
ghosts from the glorious revolution
yeah, if I'd had that many deaths on my conscience, I wouldn't want to hear about ghosts taking revenge on the living either - Jareth86, on 02/17/2008, -3/+69My god, I expected so much more from a communist police state that makes toys from lead and *****. I am just shocked.
- mrfreeziexp, on 02/17/2008, -6/+63This. Is. CHINA!!!!!!!
- frogman54, on 02/17/2008, -3/+50I guess they'll just have to pirate "Good Luck Chuck."
- carpespasm, on 02/17/2008, -8/+48meh, we have plenty of dingbats in our capitalist society trying their damnedest to regulate morality here too. *cough* FCC *cough*
- likeyehokwhatev, on 02/17/2008, -4/+41This is China
- lickmylovepump, on 02/17/2008, -6/+41The Chinese government must be a bunch of pussies.
- joshtj, on 02/17/2008, -1/+32They should ban ridiculously ordinary things like horror movies in every country, so I can do them and feel like I'm rebellious and anti-establishment.
- inactive, on 02/17/2008, -1/+26Yes, let's start banning things because you don't like it.
I don't like you, how about we ban you? - Khast, on 02/17/2008, -1/+25Hmm, seems just about as pointless as their banning reincarnation....go figure.
- inactive, on 02/17/2008, -1/+22China *****, you are thinking of japan.
- h4mx0r, on 02/17/2008, -2/+18I find this ironic. They think this gives them a positive image, but uh... I'm pretty sure we're scoffing at this brilliant move of theirs right now.
- thatsmyaibo, on 02/17/2008, -4/+20The Chinese are a bunch of Facists...I'm moving to Canada. WAKE UP CHINA! Our freedom is going out the window!
- ryan83189, on 02/17/2008, -5/+21They make the food from *****, not the toys.
- PurpleSfinx, on 02/17/2008, -1/+17Communism is an economic structure, not a moral belief system.
- snowblindnz, on 02/17/2008, -2/+18Sounds like Jack Thompson is influencing the Chinese Government..
- Scheissen, on 02/17/2008, -2/+17democracy≠capitalism
China has a capitalistic economy. - supermajic, on 02/17/2008, -1/+15I wouldn't miss Final Destination but I'd sure as hell miss The Shining and Evil Dead.
And for the record, I still think Shaun of the Dead beat the hell out of Hot Fuzz. - TheWorm, on 02/17/2008, -3/+16China never has called themselves the land of the free either.
- inactive, on 02/17/2008, -2/+14freedom of speech, freedom of will?
Horror movies don't kill people.
Your taste has no authority. - lobsterxcore, on 02/17/2008, -0/+12Now I can put my Frankenstein costume to use! Scaring Chinese will be easier than ever!
- KMartSheriff, on 02/17/2008, -1/+12You deserve a hard kick in the balls for that comment orijimi.
- wellyuk, on 02/17/2008, -2/+12You're disgusted by people who watch horror movies? Wow.. you sound like.... err.. fun?
I enjoy horror movies a great deal. I prefer the suspense side of that genre of movies as opposed to unabashed "people getting chopped up."
I'll try and explain it - we have lots of emotions, including laughter, sorrow and fear. I enjoy all these emotions being stirred and triggered. I love to laugh, I love to cry and love being scared witless. It makes me feel human and real. Make of that what you will but I find it very healthy and very invigorating to watch films that stir ALL my emotions and not just those which are traditionally "pleasant" and "desirable".
It's the same reason why people sky dive, bungy jump, drive fast cars, snowboard etc. - explnx, on 04/27/2009, -0/+10I think he was referring the olympic games, not some hypothetical war. And China's standing army only consists of 2.3 million people. Of course if they wanted to they could have a few hundred million more, change the plastic toy factories over to guns and uniforms.
- solidus636, on 02/17/2008, -1/+11You DO know that digg isn't profanity censored, right?
- inactive, on 02/17/2008, -1/+10What a condescending response.
- ElatusDeus, on 02/17/2008, -0/+9I just watched "It", now I want to dress up like a clown and kill kids...
- jgzman, on 02/17/2008, -0/+9There's no need to shout 'police state' at China. It's like shouting 'fatty' at Rosanne.
- makkaveli19, on 02/17/2008, -4/+12keep telling yourself this is a democracy
- MrTea, on 02/17/2008, -2/+10I think of China as totalitarian rather than communist.
- CanTheSpam, on 02/17/2008, -1/+9When I'm campaigning for RP, it's to KEEP America from becoming like this.
I love freedom. Do you? - chopenik, on 02/17/2008, -2/+9Good question no matter what country he's from. Living in America, I know we've done our share of bringing democracy and freedom to other countries with "unintended" consequences...
- D3koy, on 02/17/2008, -0/+7Bruce Lee should come back from the dead, kick their asses, film it, and release one last epic martial arts movie...WITH ZOMBIES!
- TheOneTrueGod, on 02/17/2008, -1/+8I bet 1984, Brazil and Fahrenheit 451 are banned, too. Damn ant colony.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 02/17/2008, -5/+12Caribbean Genocides, Indian Scalping, Trail of Tears, Slavery, American-Philippine War... and should we count all the ***** in the middle east we've done?
That's just off the top of my head.
Still I'd rather live in America than China - MasterThief117, on 02/17/2008, -3/+9I highly doubt it. One, we would never do such a think as our nation has become so dependent on them. Two, their military has so much manpower, I think they outnumber the US's population itself.
- GhostyBoy, on 02/17/2008, -4/+10China is the social model for the New World Order.
- AgmLauncher, on 02/17/2008, -0/+6Coming up on What Will China Ban Next?: thinking, free will, happiness, and life. Stay tuned.
- bishopknight, on 02/17/2008, -0/+6I think that movie kickstarted this law
- cygnus2112, on 02/17/2008, -2/+8> Watching this crap to me just makes me worry about the people I see everyday who like it.
I only worry about other people who constantly worry about other people. - ComradeLenin, on 02/17/2008, -4/+10Why does everyone call China communist? they are communists, just as much as george bush is a good president. What sounds better? Peoples Republic of China, or Military Aristocracy of China? Comon connect the dots, if you cant see they arent communist or Socialist then you need some education.
- cap11235, on 02/17/2008, -0/+6Considering that Beijing is plastered with Coke ads, I'd say China is in between.
- thushan, on 02/17/2008, -0/+6I hope this didnt happen after they saw Uwe Boll's House Of The Dead.
- IndigoMoss, on 02/17/2008, -0/+6While I agree that that ***** sucks, I sure as hell don't think it should be banned.
- Snyz, on 02/17/2008, -2/+8By what I can see, you're assuming that people get some sort of sadistic pleasure out of watching other people being tortured or killed in horrible ways, which isn't true at all. It has shock value, which is where the entertainment lies. If you don't like it then fine.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 02/17/2008, -0/+5Actually he is pretty much right. The Chinese government has been doing everything it can to erase Chinese culture. That's what the cultural revolution was literally about. They destroyed thousands of records of Chinese history and culture. That was the mark of the beginning of the dumb ages for China.
- mesmeriffic, on 02/17/2008, -0/+5Dude... dingbat is such a dorky political slur.
