- jefffriedberg, on 06/03/2009, -10/+97I don't weigh 240 and I'm a lot older than this bastard but I would like to beat the crap out of him and am willing to let him take his best shot while I do it, the rotten, cowardly sonofabithch. I hope they ***** his brains out in prison.
- inactive, on 06/03/2009, -5/+89woh shes hot
- wesleyzero, on 06/03/2009, -0/+67The video of this attack was awful and his excuse was complete *****. Enjoy jail, coward.
- yeeaauuh, on 06/03/2009, -0/+55Backstory - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49kgG0s7lVk
- inactive, on 06/03/2009, -0/+50He'll probably be on probation with zero to minimal jail time because he's a cop even though that's what makes this crime that much worse.
- WELLDOITLIVE, on 06/03/2009, -4/+51Cop beat you to it
- pintomp3, on 06/03/2009, -7/+51I'd hit it..
- bicyclethief, on 06/03/2009, -0/+44He should have blamed it on the drinks and apologized profusely.
Pleading self-defense against a girl bartender half his size just makes him look like a pussy and a coward. What the ***** was he thinking? - Indpthinker, on 06/03/2009, -0/+41Chicago's finnest is having one hell of a week. They've got this douchebag and then the other cop who hit a kid ridding his bike while the cop was driving while intoxicated. Brovo CPD....
- bmatherlyjr, on 06/03/2009, -0/+36He didn't attack her because she refused to serve more drinks; he attacked her because she wouldn't serve him more drinks and because she has an accent, stupid xenophobic redneck cop.
- eastwood24, on 06/03/2009, -4/+39If I ever raise a fist to a defenseless woman, may I die a slow painful death.
- inactive, on 06/03/2009, -12/+47Yeah the pigs never follow the laws they are supposed to enforce..
fancy that.. - AndrewRidgely, on 06/03/2009, -8/+41I'm with you on this being a great injustice, and I'm happy this guy is behind bars, but think about what you're saying for a minute.
Would you want to rape this guy yourself, as part of your revenge fantasy? If not, why do you applaud the idea of sexual assualt in prison?
A lot of people in this thread expressed the same idea, so sorry to single you out. But as someone who has had family in jail for a non-violent drug charge, I can say it sexual assualt in prison is a real issue that ***** people up. Attitudes like this one (and our serious overcrowding and underfunding issue) cause a sort of apathetic intertia and a look-the-other-way attitude when rapes happen in prison. No civilized society and no healthy society should allow it. - slyzxx, on 06/03/2009, -2/+25its bad that he hit a woman but its even worse he`s a cop and raised his hand to a woman what an *****.
- mongo25, on 06/03/2009, -0/+21Hulking?? More like fat-ass.
- SpacePoet, on 06/03/2009, -0/+20Just think if there wasn't any video, we would have never heard about it and the pig would never have been charged.
- Residents, on 06/03/2009, -3/+22I've heard it's a bad idea to hit on a sexy bartender but this one takes the cake.
- mksmothers, on 06/03/2009, -2/+21Finally. A cop is held accountable for his actions.
- anexanhume, on 06/03/2009, -0/+19At first I wondered why the bystanders didn't help, and then it showed that they were his friends. I doubt that guy was calling the police... so who was he calling? Checking up on grammy's cookies?
I don't know care how much bigger that guy is than me, with a well placed tackle, I can take him down. I don't expect to last in a fight, but at least I've redirected his focus away from someone who is less able to defend themselves. - jockc, on 06/03/2009, -2/+20Not sure why you are getting the down votes for saying this, but I agree completely. It seems like much of the American population regards prison rape as part of the sentence; it's barbaric.
- nikki2300dk, on 06/03/2009, -0/+18Ah, nice to see some justice for a change.
- b1ffr43p, on 06/03/2009, -1/+18Agreed, good sir. Prison rape is laughed off so often, but it's really not a joke, nor something to be proud of as a civilized nation.
Just scanned the comments, same joke made 3 times. Blargh. - sunsetprojects, on 06/03/2009, -2/+17Wait...... one moment what happened to the other cop who tried to bribe her to keep her mouth shut??
- blackinthmiddle, on 06/03/2009, -0/+15I remember this case very well and periodically checked to see if there was an update. If you recall, the next day the precinct literally and figuratively had a wall of policemen at the front steps and were hostile to the reporting crew that was there trying to get answers. A few hours after the incident, a couple of his friends went to the bar to try and shut her up about the whole thing. Disgusting.
This is why I have precious little respect for cops. There are good and bad people in every walk of life. When you *support* those bad people, then you're no better yourself. I'm surprised it took this long to get a conviction. Unfortunately, the only people who will suffer are the taxpayers after she wins her almost guaranteed civil suit that will follow. - maz2331, on 06/03/2009, -0/+14This case was a no-brainer from the start. They had the whole thing recorded, and it went public. He was toast.
- inactive, on 06/03/2009, -4/+18I have yet to encounter a level-headed chicago cop - I have seen plenty of drunk and belligerent CPD in bars though.
Every time a chicago cop gets busted doing something wrong we hear how cops have the toughest jobs around and sometimes mistakes are made. These cops are always defended by their superiors.
I am tired of hearing how police have "one of the toughest jobs around". Please understand that everybody has a tough job. Officers that justify their actions by referencing the difficulty of their profession should find another career path. Police need to be taught courses on professionalism, discipline and objectivity. Maybe then they will learn that acting bullheaded and talking down to people is not acceptable in any profession. Cops need to take a look at the big picture: Your job is not all about you - To protect and to Serve. - pintocat, on 06/03/2009, -0/+13Has nothing to do with gender... and everything to do with ***** cops.
- Rethcir, on 06/03/2009, -0/+13Nothing gets diggs like police brutality! (well, maybe weed stories too)
- DangerCollie, on 06/03/2009, -0/+13Props to the jury that had the collective nads to convict a cop. Lot of people around here would be too afraid of retaliation to vote for conviction.
- Shiftgood, on 06/03/2009, -2/+15Remember when Stalone was in the back of the helicopter looking out in Demolition man? He was about to jump down to the building to catch Snipes... and he said "send a maniac to catch a maniac".
Im wondering if being an inner city cop just turns you into a criminal yourself... because you need to be one to do do your job.
You are what you hate. - ZZeke, on 06/03/2009, -1/+13Yeah, cops should face double time for committing crimes. They should face immediate suspension w/o pay whenever charges are brought up, and have their pensions revoked upon conviction. If they are found innocent, give them their back pay and reinstate them. This would not only discourage more cops from bending or breaking the law, it would also force these cases through the system a whole lot faster.
- ZZeke, on 06/03/2009, -0/+11*****. Whenever a cop is killed in the line of duty, it stays in the local headlines for a week solid, with follow up articles about what freedoms the government needs to take away from us in order to keep it from happening again, along with multiple fluff pieces which barely fall short of worship. Then there's the huge tax-payer funded funerals with reception for hundreds, if not thousands - along with overtime pay for all the on-duty police escorts in full dress. Then there's the memorials they erect in the decedent's honor.
We had a cop run himself off the highway here a year or two ago. He was all alone on the road in the middle of the night, and there was absolutely no denying that he was exceeding the speed limit by 30-40 mph, and he was not en route to a call. The paper here ran stories for a week about what a great guy he was and what a horrible tragedy it was to lose him. Now, I'm not doubting that this particular officer was one of the good guys, but what struck me as odd was the fact that nobody - not the cops, not the papers, not the county or state - even blinked an eye about the fact that this guy obviously died due to his own recklessness or negligence behind the wheel of his cruiser.
The point I'm trying to make here is that the press always favors the police over civilians. When a citizen motorist dies behind the wheel, the cops and the press are always looking to prove that they did something terribly wrong or illegal, but when it's a cop, there's no questions asked, he was a hero.
As far as I'm concerned, the press has always done whatever it can to shield the police from scrutiny. The only reason we're seeing more negative stories about cops in the national press is because of irrefutable video evidence of wrongdoing. If there was no video, the press would be doing what it has always done, which is protect our boys in blue, even if it means ignoring the facts or circumstance. - cosulliv755, on 06/03/2009, -6/+17Don't bend over for the soap, you cowardly vicious ***** pick.
- athinnes, on 10/01/2009, -2/+12And I am sure whoever killed the cop is either dead or will be in jail for the rest of his/her life.
I have seen cops get off for so much ***** in the past, it is nice to see one get what he deserves. - inactive, on 06/03/2009, -0/+10That may be true, but WTF, I'm not gonna sit back and let some ***** beat the ever-loving ***** out of a woman half his size. Plus, no one knew at the time that he was a cop.
- sv650touring, on 06/03/2009, -0/+10Wasn't there a story about a guy who went to jail for theft, and was constantly raped inside, and now has AIDS? Either way, it doesn't sound like an unusual scenario.
Considering how many people go to jail for victimless crimes and stupid crap, prison rape is pretty terrible. It's not like it only happens to the violent rapists themselves. - pintomp3, on 06/03/2009, -0/+9I guess that would make him a hero to Lou Dobbs.
- blackinthmiddle, on 06/03/2009, -0/+9Why is there something wrong there? News is a business and they're trying to get ratings like anything else. Unfortunately, it's not news when a cop gets shot, as that's part of the job. You also don't see a teacher doing a good job making the news either. When something is not out of the ordinary, it's not likely to make news.
Sorry, when a 250 lb cop beats the crap out of a small female and then tries to get her to shut up about it and it's all caught on tape (with his police department setting up the blue wall of silence), that's going to make news. Cops getting caught on camera finally verifies what many have complained about for ages, namely police brutality. - seventhc, on 06/03/2009, -2/+11It's funny, you can tell that he's cop cop even without the uniform on.
- blackinthmiddle, on 06/03/2009, -0/+9He then sent his friends over to the bar hours later to try and get her to shut up about the whole incident.
- blackinthmiddle, on 06/03/2009, -0/+8Exactly. You're going to hear more from this case, or at least you should. From what I understand, a few cops went to the bar afterward to try and get her to shut up. All of these cops should be sued and kicked off of the force as well.
- prompel, on 06/03/2009, -0/+8"No civilized society and no healthy society should allow it."
And therein lies the rub. - sushicombo, on 06/03/2009, -3/+10While I agree with what your saying in principle, calling out people for hyperbole on the internet, especially on Digg of all places, doesn't seem like a productive use of your indignation.
- darkstar1st, on 06/03/2009, -1/+8Did you see how she took him down? Used his own weight against him, classic kung fu move. He was using all his weight lean on her when she was pushing him out of the bar she then stopped pushing and he fell. Eastern European women rock, smart, sexy and can take down punks twice their size.
- andersleet, on 06/03/2009, -1/+8I know right?
Apparently (and I agree) battery on a female is beyond the line the corrupted officers toe. I mean, if they can get away with using a Taser on a 72-year old, http://digg.com/people/Texas_deputy_uses_Taser_on_ ... whats to stop them from trying to punch a bartender for not giving them another drink.
And we all a 250 lb trained police officer's natural enemy is a 125 lb female drink peddler, so I guess it was justified! I bet it would have been like that chimpanzee rampage had the officer not pummeled this girl...faces getting ripped off, arms torn from sockets, all that fun stuff.
/s - inactive, on 06/03/2009, -1/+8I admit, I'd be absolutely useless in a fight, especially against the likes of that dude, but I'd gladly give it a try if it could at least take his attention from the bartender.
- petebot, on 06/03/2009, -1/+8Thank god. ***** that douchebag.
- JustLetGo, on 06/03/2009, -0/+6Exactly. People just need to take responsibility for their actions. It would make the world a much better place.
- DrVic, on 06/03/2009, -0/+6Agreed, rape is never a laughing matter. Unless a clown does it.
- surfacewound, on 06/03/2009, -1/+7You ***** disgust me.
