- gbudavid, on 05/15/2008, -0/+7I guess they picked the wrong time to ask for a raise???
- CaptainAmerica1, on 05/15/2008, -0/+8In the drug gangs, you don't ask for a raise -- you steal it (or, in this case, try to) from the other gangs.
- IconoclastStill, on 05/16/2008, -0/+8Wonder how many of the shooters will hop the border . . . ???
- covertress, on 05/16/2008, -0/+81 too many.
- txchica, on 05/16/2008, -0/+6The violence has gotten pretty bad here on the border, we even had a local businessman killed here because he was an outspoken advocate against the gangs and violence. Pretty sad for the family. Here's a link to the story. http://www.ksat.com/news/14159088/detail.html
- covertress, on 05/16/2008, -0/+5What a horrible thing for those young kids to witness. This situation in Mexico is way out of hand. :/
- IconoclastStill, on 05/16/2008, -0/+4txchica - this guy lived in Texas and was an elected municipal official in Mexico ‽‽‽
- txchica, on 05/16/2008, -0/+4Yes, he was born in Mexico, had businesses there, but lived here in Del Rio as a legal resident, maybe he was naturalized (but don't hold me to that). His kids are American citizens and live here, his daughter is on the school board. The only thing separating Del Rio and Acuna is the Rio Grande.
- IconoclastStill, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2Thank you for the follow-up!
- covertress, on 05/16/2008, -0/+5For all who may not have noticed... I recently added some new photos, shot last weekend. (no pun intended) Courtesy of an anonymous friend. ;)
- McCharlie, on 05/17/2008, -0/+2Yup, that's the way that business goes, that's why I never ever go to Mexico, I know it's a beautiful country, but a good part of it is run by these low lives especially the border towns. I heard news on the radio not long ago about an old cartel being rivaled by a new one in the TJ area and how they were just spraying bullets on the streets at random killing each other. Not a family destination that's for sure.
- covertress, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1TJ used to be a family destination back in the 70's. I have fond memories of buying my first hand-carved chess set there. Unfortunately, after seeing the gruesome photos of last weekend's events, you'd have to pay me to go back and my job would include wearing a gun. (I didn't include the more graphic photos in my article -- one's showing four victims killed with shots to the head and neck. One was a Mexican officer.)
