In a poignant letter to his family, captive soldier Gilad Shalit pleaded with Israel not to abandon him and said he was in poor health two years after Gaza TERRORISTS seized him in a cross-border raid. - maxvolt, on 06/10/2008, -2/+3This kid is screwed if Jimmy Carter is working on his release...I seem to remember the American Hostage Crisis back in 1978/79 timeframe, his incompetence and appeasement didnt get anyone released...Reagan stepped into office and out of fear of what Reagan would do to Iran the hostages were released. Israel should totally surround Gaza, plug all the tunnels, and issue a statement that says, the health and well being of Gilad are the Gaza Terrorists responsibility, if Gilad is not returned in good health to his family by 30 June, Gaza and all who live there will cease to exist...that is it...simple. Then if they dont return Gilad or Gilad is executed, follow through immediately and wipe them all out... the resulting message will be LOUD and CLEAR, we WILL ANNIHILATE YOU, YOUR FAMILY and YOUR DOG if even one person gets taken...terrorism as we know it will cease to exist almost instantly, as these people are total cowards.
- 17thABN, on 06/10/2008, -2/+2The inability of the MSM to use the word 'terrorist' is evidenence that the MSM soaks the cork of ISLAMIC=TERRORISM.
- blueridgewv, on 06/10/2008, -3/+2Yes we can see who is pushing this propaganda. Smacks of the same we heard as a justification to attack ALL of Lebanon over a year ago--i.e. captured soldier, distorted account, leads to invasion. Now the media is trotting this story out again.
Oh, poor Israeli soldier? Just which way did the "cross border" raid proceed, and by whom. Is there not both legal and moral debate as to what even constitutes a "border" around the Gaza area that Israel is, or wants to, occupy? Soldiers in conflicting campaigns should expect to be subject to capture. The Israelis would have just killed a member of Hamas, or slowly tortured him to death. Surely Israel has conducted "cross border raids", so maybe it was tit for tat.
Do not expect the U.S. or the world to just accept this story, or let it grow into a big deal, especially if it will be used as justification for overwhelming Israeli militarism. Also, please explain all the captive Palestinians being occupied by Israel, how they never get this kind of press and "plea for release". - louisraritan, on 06/10/2008, -1/+2My advice is to let this boy go. Think about the happiness that will be in his families life and the message you will be sending to Israel for peace. Let him go or its your ass.....I promise.
Chad - BSMDBT, on 06/11/2008, -1/+2Take out the terrorist scum and everyone who lives with them and supports them..it stops them cold, just ask the Old Soviet Union...back when 100+ Americans got taken hostage by Iran, A couple of Soviets also got abducted..the KGB discovered who the terrorists were, did not go after THEM, no no no, the KGB abducted one of their family members, and began mailinbg body parts back to the terrorists one piece at a time with one message, let our citizen go or more of your beloved is to be returned one piece at a time. needless to say the Iranians released the Soviets that very day and NEVER took another Soviet Citizen again... there is a strong lesson in FEAR, when they FEAR you, because you DO what you SAY you will DO, they stop being BUT HOLES INSTANTLY...Israel Kill them all if you need to, to send a clear message...they will never touch another Israeli again..I agree with Maxvolt and history confirms that approach, because they are absolute cowards.
- louisraritan, on 06/11/2008, -1/+0I am much more interested in preserving life. Thank you though. The clock counts down.
