vote for the candidate that has the best chance of beating a conservative (republican) candidate in your riding, make your vote count. if your riding isn't a conservative one, lets keep it that way - Snoosy, on 10/14/2008, -3/+42I voted, did YOU?
- SurfingMonkey, on 10/14/2008, -0/+39At least we vote on paper.
- Yazilliclick, on 10/15/2008, -1/+35Please don't equate our politicians to those from the US. Our conservatives are nowhere's near as right leaning as republicans.
- poonaka, on 10/14/2008, -0/+329:30 am to 9:30 pm in Ontario...
- anxdiety, on 10/14/2008, -7/+39I went NDP. This was recently reinforced with Jack Layton recently and his policy on Net Neutrality that was seen around here as well. I'm in a riding where the stupid Conservative candidate didn't even show up for local debates yet due to people stuck in their ways and not paying attention to the issues at hand she is going to win anyhow. I guess this is what it feels like to be American at times.
- DeadSkinMask, on 10/14/2008, -0/+29EDIT:
Don't forget Canadians on the West Coast (PST), Poll's are open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
MAKE YOUR VOTE COUNT!
Fixed. - DeadSkinMask, on 10/14/2008, -5/+31Don't forget Canadians, Poll's are open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
MAKE YOUR VOTE COUNT! - Rikushix, on 10/14/2008, -14/+39Anything. But. Conservative.

I'm having a hard time deciding who to vote for, especially considering that I'm fiscally conservative but I simply cannot vote for a Prime Minister like Stephen Harper. It's difficult; I don't believe in the notion of a "wasted vote" but it is nonetheless true that if I were to vote Green (which I am tempted to do), I would be splitting the Liberal vote. One less vote for Harper but also one less vote for the one party that has a chance of stopping a conservative majority. It's a dilemma and I have to decide in the next few hours :-( - onlysc, on 10/14/2008, -0/+22curious to see how that pans out
- primalsteel, on 10/14/2008, -0/+20Here we Go!!! GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!
- Akraz, on 10/15/2008, -5/+24Voted NDP due to Jack Layton and his Net Neutrality
- KingHarvest00, on 10/15/2008, -4/+18Voted Liberal because Harper is a reptilian. Also because the local NDP candidate is retarded.
- Waiting2awake, on 10/14/2008, -1/+14I am right with you bud. Have been voting PC since I I started to vote(Except for one time with the Reform), but once I saw Harper things changed.
I can't even put my finger on it. Yes there are the issues with net neutrality and such(But I have no hope that the Liberals would not do the exact same thing)
Really not sure what to do... - PostiveG, on 10/15/2008, -1/+13I predict another Conservative minority.
Liberals will loose a few seats due to vote splitting by the NDP.
NDP will gain a few seats.
Block will loose a few seats.
Greens will vote in maybe one or two MPs, but that's it.
Dion will be gone this time next year as a result.
I don't think you'll see a coalition government, this time, next election I think you'll see something in that regard.
Say hello to Elections every few years folks ... we're too divided now. - LPhilM, on 10/14/2008, -0/+12i was only able to participate in mock vote at school :(
- Persian5Life, on 10/15/2008, -0/+12yes i did vote actually, i voted NDP. i live in Calgary NW i know the NDP wont win but at least i voted. i am pleased that you asked.
- LinuxChild, on 10/15/2008, -2/+12I voted Green. Not only did Elizabeth May do really well in both debates, but this is the only party that is reaching out across Canada, going to every city small and large. Unlike the red and blue who only care about winning, giving big tax breaks to multi billion dollar profit company's(sound like the GOP much?) and really only campaign in the larger cities. I wonder what would happen if Canada got a REAL sense of what the leaders truly stand for. If only we had our parties campaign for years, put millions of dollars into events and advertising. I hope Ms May wins, but don't count on any real change or breaks from our government when the Liberals and Conservatives take most of the votes. I dream of a day when true democracy is brought to North America, and the people and their issues are taken care of. Enough of this politics as usual, enough of the greed and special interests. It's really starting to bother me how the government treats us. Yea yea I know. Cry me a river, but I love being Canadian and it hurts me that I'm ready to hand in my citizenship and move to another country where the people are listened to, and the government reflect it. GO GREEN!
- Rikushix, on 10/14/2008, -0/+10The party itself is far from extreme but Harper is too buddy-buddy with the Bush Administration and the US in general, as far as I'm concerned. He's got their best interests just as much at heart as he does ours.
- inactive, on 10/15/2008, -3/+13 'lil Bush' thought he'd get a Majority, hopefully that doesn't happen. Maybe next time he'll honor his own ideology and stick to set election dates.
- Heavypettingzoo, on 10/15/2008, -0/+10I just want a party that doesn't bend over for the US.
- KaiserArny, on 10/14/2008, -2/+11I'm also a fiscally conservative, but I would never for the present Conservative party exactly because there are still too many ex-Reform in that party. I would not trust the Conservatives with a majority. I feel that on social issues, their agenda is driven by the religious right. Their continued opposition to Abortion Rights and Homosexual marriages. Even if education's a provincial matter, I'm sure they would try to push some religious doctrines like creationism. Just look at their attempt to censor Canadian movies by withholding grants to movie producer that the would deemed not Family friendly by some board that would be composed of mostly fundamentalists.
Anything but Harper Majority - Rikushix, on 10/15/2008, -0/+9You can vote for the Leafs all you want, they aren't gonna win.
- Alexcarrier, on 10/15/2008, -2/+11I did, mostly because they are the ones who can beat the Conservatives in my area. Even anglophones from Quebec vote for them in such cases. Glad to see the country uniting against Harper.
I'd wish they'd drop separatism and join with another party to form an Uber-Ass-Kicking Anti-Harper Party. - heretik, on 10/14/2008, -1/+10The Liberals are fiscally conservative! But also morally liberal. It's not tough.
- HiddenCanuck, on 10/15/2008, -1/+10Voted NDP last time. Then realized afterwards that somehow with the majority of the country voting left, we got a right gov.
So i voted Liberal today.
Why oh why didn't we vote to loose the first-past-the-post system?? - 3toe, on 10/15/2008, -1/+10Yeah we kinda do.
- Rikushix, on 10/14/2008, -0/+8Exactly. You nailed it.
- Ransack, on 10/15/2008, -4/+12Harper is as Orwellian as Palin, he went on TV and said the courts found the Cadman tapes were doctored, when in fact the courts found the tapes were NOT altered. The Big Lie. Will Canadians be dumb enough to fall for a pathological liar?
- Yage2006, on 10/15/2008, -3/+11I just voted, radical marijuana :)
- KaiserArny, on 10/14/2008, -1/+9I Don't Want The Faith based politics A La Bush.
- Jhiaxuz, on 10/15/2008, -0/+8Don't like any of them? Then vote green. A vote lost and a lost vote are two entirely different things because I don't want to hear your lazy ass complain about who is in power if you failed to exercise your voting right which takes 3 minutes to do.
- MikeyMoose, on 01/30/2009, -2/+9"Credit crunch poll" my ass. Harper didn't call the election (or "poll" as they call it) because of, or running on, the sub-prime meltdown...
It hasn't had nearly the influence on the election that they say it did. How many banks in Canada have failed? Zero. Our financial institutions run under much heavier restrictions and regulations than do their US counterparts. The kind of sub-prime loans that have now exploded were not available in Canada. Only one of our banks had any significant exposure to the sub-prime melt-down, and they raised capitol and covered two months ago - they're fine... - nageroc, on 10/15/2008, -0/+7Well, don't keep us in suspense! Who won?!
- brownsound00, on 10/15/2008, -0/+7I voted.
- RiverBelow, on 10/15/2008, -0/+78:00 Saskatchewan
I made that up - jwsmith00, on 10/15/2008, -0/+7Won't happen. The majority government is as dead as a dinosaur in Canada. Since the conservatives got back together, that changed everything. The east hates the west, the west hates Ontario, Ontario hates the east, and so on. Minority governments are now the norm. We can thank Mulroney for that since he befriended the Lucien Bouchard and that created the Bloc. And during that same period, the reform party gained steam. Jean Chretien never would have won 3 elections in the current environment. Clearly majorities will be rare going forward.
- knickerbocker, on 10/15/2008, -0/+7A pity that you felt you needed to vote that way. However, the Cons would've been death to Québecois culture. TROC does understand La Belle Province better than many of the vested interests like Gilles and Jacques would have you believe.
Anybody But Conservative - Nico3d3, on 10/15/2008, -4/+11I voted for the NDP hoping that Maxime Bernier will not get a seat this time. I don't hate him personnally, It's just that I can't let the conservative have full majority. They are already dangerous while they have minority.
- DalamarArgent, on 10/15/2008, -0/+7300 million dollars later and we have basically the exact same minority government. That was worthwhile.
- delooka, on 10/15/2008, -0/+7I voted for Jack Layton's mustache.
- InfernoX, on 10/15/2008, -1/+7I'm not old enough to vote, but if I was I would vote NDP.
- emjaymj, on 10/15/2008, -2/+8"The majority of Canadians will prolly tell you The Conservatives are actually more liberal than the Liberal Party of Canada."
Uhh... no they won't. The ones who aren't retarded, anyways. - pizpot, on 10/15/2008, -1/+7every voter is allowed to watch them count the votes in his riding
- MikeyMoose, on 01/30/2009, -3/+9OMG! God forbid you get more chances to vote!! Oh the humanity!!! It takes five freaking minutes... It's not like people around the world are imprisoned, tortured and killed for daring to stand up and ask for democracy... Oh woe is me - I get asked to vote too much...
I'd like to vote every year - screw them. If they're not performing - out on their asses! - Nephersir7, on 10/15/2008, -0/+6What sucks is that Harper will be elected even if only 30% voted for him
- swgc5, on 10/15/2008, -0/+6We really need to unify the left in this country.
- Timdegreat, on 10/15/2008, -0/+6Nearly all the pundits agree, this election is just going to end up in another minority, most likely conservative. It would take a near miracle (in Quebec) for the conservatives to win a majority, so I think your vote is safe. Every vote is worth $1.95 in funding to the party you vote for, so it isn't wasted.
- sineric, on 10/15/2008, -1/+7I voted NDP
Steven Harper would take our health care if he could... - arsheroica, on 10/15/2008, -1/+7spankr - the problem is that it's a huge waste of time and money, because nothing ever really changes. It's always a minority gov't, and that minority requires whichever party forms Her Majesty's Official Opposition to pass anything - it's so pointless.
