- alapoet, on 06/22/2008, -4/+76A new twist on 'passive resistance'!
- rhabd0mancer, on 06/22/2008, -19/+85"Last Tuesday, two settlers were arrested after being filmed beating up two Palestinian shepherds, an elderly man and his wife, near Hebron. The incident was made public the previous week when the British BBC broadcast video showing young masked settlers apparently attacking the couple with clubs.
"The settlers gave us a 10-minute warning to clear off from the land," Thamam al-Nawaja, 58, told the BBC after spending three days in hospital following the attack.
She said she and her 70-year-old husband stood their ground and that her arm was broken and her left cheek fractured in an ensuing attack."
Ah, the Religion of Peace strikes again! - RadioFreeOpium, on 06/22/2008, -7/+65yeah this was up a few weeks ago along with a video taken by some palestinian herders as they were beaten by israelis with bats
- str3ama, on 06/22/2008, -9/+47These settlements are somewhat out of Israel's protective bubble, Israel is growing and they need more space - so they systematically moved back the borders and took a lot of land that was formerly Palestine. They realized that they had very little space left to expand the cities - so they started encroaching on Palestine.
All the higher class people live within legitimate Israel, while the poorer people are pushed to the borders, referred to as settlers even though the land had long been settled and inhabited. The 'settlers' are disgusting, they are reinforced by a constant Israeli military presence who obviously favour the Israeli settlers, but are still quite disgusted by the settlers. - SilentSpyder, on 06/22/2008, -8/+46I wonder if Fox will air this?
- inactive, on 06/22/2008, -7/+41The settlers were Jews, not followers of the religion of peace:

It's an Israeli group providing the cameras - that's the coolest part of this story :) - inactive, on 06/22/2008, -8/+40cool.
- inactive, on 06/22/2008, -4/+29Here's the video of the settlers:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7451691.stm - jaymzdean, on 06/22/2008, -14/+38My hope is that people will read your post and be spurred to research for themselves where they will find that, ironically, the Israelis are carrying out genocide against the Palestinians.
I would suggest that you either go along with the truth or stop spreading the lies.
This is threatening to turn into a major issue here in the U.S., as people are waking up, and I would hate to see you rounded up with the traitors. - Disgod, on 06/23/2008, -2/+26hehe Tom Clancy called this one in "The Sum of All Fears". As long as the violence by Israel isn't being show they can claim the high ground, but as soon as the Palestinians start using non-violent means and starts showing real violence against Palestinians by Israelis, Israel loses it's high ground and a lot of it's political clout. I just love the fact that it's an Israeli group that is making this possible. If they keep it up it could force Israel to actually deal on the level with Palestine, and hopefully finally bring peace to the area.
I'm not saying that the Palestinians aren't guilty of using violence, they are, just that Israel is equally as guilty of using violence and once Israel falls off it's high horse something might get accomplished. At least, I hope so. - Berkana, on 06/22/2008, -1/+23If israel turns a blind eye to their abuses, what good is it that they are not affiliated? That's like saying that Blackwater isn't affiliated with the US Army. True, but they are hired by the US government and are effectively doing army type operations.
- chanop, on 06/23/2008, -8/+30Israeli thugs? But I've been told throughout my life that the Palestinians are the ruthless thugs
- slyzxx, on 06/23/2008, -1/+22The never ending war. Sad to see innocent people get hurt no matter which side.
- rvandy, on 06/22/2008, -7/+26How do you survive each day when you're so stupid?
- pintomp3, on 06/23/2008, -2/+20it's actually not a growth issue. settlement activity grows at a much larger rate than the population. it's a land grab. they set up settlements and then connect them with roads which palestinians are forbidden to use, roads that carve up and divide the palestinian territories. settlers are the worse kind of people, they are no different than suicide bombers. they are the primary perpetrators of violence against palestinians. they take other people's land and put their family in harms way because they believe that god promised them the land. we need to stop treating the bible like a real estate contract.
- LibrarianEtarip, on 06/23/2008, -2/+19Yes... because a few bad applies should represent an entire people? No doubt... Palestinians have shown a lot of restraint in the last decade.

- ElbowGeek, on 06/23/2008, -15/+31But not all is cut and dried. I've seen where the Palestinians have actually staged mock shootouts including botched ambulance arrivals and loadings in what is supposedly a gunfight, but it all turns out to be a sham.
However, for legitimate complaints, the camera is an essential tool for any oppressed people.
On a much broader note, I'll say what needs to be said: The Israeli government is treating the Palestinian people in a similar fashion to the way the Nazis treated themselves in WWII. No outright death camps, but damned close. - slyzxx, on 06/23/2008, -1/+17obviously you can`t tell the diffrence between ordinary people and the militia.
You should ask your self what would you do if someone sold your land to others with out your know how and came in and declared your out of a home. - SuperMoses, on 06/23/2008, -3/+18Actually, that's not the poor Palestinians this article is talking about.. that's the armed militias which are a tiny fraction of the size of the Israeli military
- inactive, on 06/22/2008, -16/+31Cool, but what's "video" gonna do?
Israeliās occupation of the Palestinian territories and human rights violations is well known. The question is: who has the balls to bring them to justice (or sanction them)? - RoflcopterFUEL, on 06/23/2008, -4/+18Except they are build on land confiscated with the help of the Israeli army. Protected by the army. And the housing is subsidized by the government (to encourage settlement), and they have vocal support in the kenessett.
Ya, they're in no way affilated alright. - RoflcopterFUEL, on 06/23/2008, -1/+15If this becomes more widespread, then the negativity of a wave of bad PR may convince the israeli courts to do something about the settlements.
- franklymister, on 06/23/2008, -2/+16I only wish all the resistance was like this. On both sides.
- igeoffi, on 06/23/2008, -1/+12FTA: "The Israeli human rights organisation B'Tselem, immediately provided the four Palestinian families living near to that house with video cameras, as part of its programme 'Shooting Back'."
- ZeroOrDie, on 06/22/2008, -4/+15But they are still doing it.
- pintomp3, on 06/23/2008, -9/+19at this point i don't care what the israelis and palestinians to do each other. we need to stop sending billions of US tax dollars to israel and let them sort it out for themselves.
- cheezintern, on 06/23/2008, -6/+16The Palestinians are def ruthless thugs. Those rocks they throw can really hurt.
- jaymzdean, on 06/22/2008, -2/+11Why do you wonder that?
- stfucupcake, on 06/23/2008, -1/+10It blows the air out of the Israeli PR machine that paints any Palestinian as a "terrorist".
Clearly the everyday Palestinian is just trying to live their life and keep their dignity as a people. - kooft, on 06/23/2008, -1/+9"Cool, but what's "video" gonna do?"
It'll do more for the Palestinians than Hamas or Islamic Jihad. Israel may be the military superpower of the region but in the PR arena they are fighting a tough battle. The last thing Israel wants to see is a PR frenzy surround a video of Jews beating up helpless Palestinian grandmothers.
If the Western world comes to perceive Israel as approving of these incidents, they might stop providing financial and military aid. It wouldn't be instantaneous but at some point Israel would succumb to the pressure, after which they would be under the international microscope. - Rikkochet, on 06/23/2008, -1/+9International outrage is the best political tool there is. You can be a sleazy son of a bitch only until the world at large sees video of people being hurt by your deliberate action. Then they get angry. Then you're in trouble.
- geardosdotnet, on 06/23/2008, -2/+10the settlers are basically thugs, and their actions do not represent the whole country. People who want peace are best to weed out those extremists.
- AnotherJewboy, on 06/23/2008, -3/+11So tell me why then is Israel, who kills 100x more people the ones portrayed as good in US media?
Digg needs a reminder that Israel is the one invading and occupying, not the Palestinians. - high0nfire, on 06/23/2008, -6/+14The best bet for the Palestinians would be to bring in THOUSANDS of cameras and just start filming and posting online and sending footage to the media, sooner or later you'll catch some nasty stuff that will be harder and harder for the US to ignore. Heck, get a bunch of cameras to the Israelis too. The truth shall set you free. Amazing how all religions are based in peace but all invariably lead to violence and evil. Religion: the devil's perfect weapon.
- sabroskie, on 06/23/2008, -3/+11I like how Israelis and Palestinians are collaborating to show the world the real side of Israel.
- TheTruthHurts, on 06/23/2008, -0/+7http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7451691.stm see the Video
- punkorambo, on 06/23/2008, -2/+9Good for them... these extreme right-wing Israelis deserve to be arrested for what they did. But on the other hand so should the Palestinian terrorists who shoot rockets into Israel. Instead they get praise. That's messed up.
- crapmatic, on 06/23/2008, -1/+8I wonder if the US is going to airlift those settlers some bigger bats.
- SuperMoses, on 06/23/2008, -0/+7I think he was being rhetorical
- superkendall, on 06/23/2008, -13/+20As a photographer, I know better than most that cameras can easily lie - and we have seen a number of examples of very staged photography from Palestinians and Hamas making it even into AP results as wire services are desperate for photos but hard up for photographers to travel to dangerous areas. Just a note to take with a grain of salt whatever photos and video you might see from highly political groups with a major motivation to fudge content.
- Trublmakr, on 06/23/2008, -0/+6I guess the truth does hurt.
- Disgod, on 06/23/2008, -1/+7Blackwater protects US officials, Diplomats, and other non-military personal. The US government most definitely has a whole lot to do with Blackwater
- lnf69, on 06/23/2008, -1/+7How was his comment hurtful?
- high0nfire, on 06/23/2008, -0/+6Could it mean that the Israelis are nicer than the Palestinians? Could it mean that Israel is badly in need of some good publicity? Could it mean that Palestinians don't give a hoot about anyone but themselves? Perhaps it means that even Israel can't believe how horrible some of it's people are treating the Palestinians. Perhaps Israel has more resources (are they smarter? better? maybe they have access to cheap Palestinian labor?) to send cameras to "the other side" because they know that their side is doing some pretty horrendous things. There is good on both sides, sir, regardless of how much you refuse to believe that.
- Beastmasta, on 06/23/2008, -7/+13Nope, not surprising. That's as ignorant as saying
"Hey, why don't the homeless help us with our money problems? There so inconsiderate!" - Kallius, on 06/23/2008, -2/+8I'm sure the Israeli apologists will claim all those videos are doctored.
