- inactive, on 01/14/2008, -25/+392It's the world that must confront Bush, but the world knows that already.
- Arch83, on 01/14/2008, -14/+246"Iran is today the world's leading state sponsor of terror. It sends hundreds of millions of dollars to extremists around the world while its own people face repression and economic hardship at home," [Bush] said in his keynote speech.
...did this strike anyone else as a little too-close-to-home? - pehpsi, on 01/14/2008, -16/+208Holy *****, he didn't go over there for peace talks, he's there on a recruitment drive looking for allies! Pretty much what we expected.
Who knows, he might even sells some weapons while he's there? Oh, wait... - offspring06, on 01/14/2008, -14/+148I wonder how history will view Bush in 100 years. He will probably be remembered as the President that started WWIII.

Bush: Must stop confronting world. - Kikkomann, on 01/14/2008, -11/+97I can't believe I am still reading this. If this "confrontation" pushes through (and the chances are pretty high) and ultimately results in WWIII, I don't know what to think of the American people for letting it happen. I grew up in a nation where majority of the people label every white people they see as Americans; dream the "American Dream"; look up to them, not only because the American people are generally taller, but for their sense of freedom, liberty, and sociality. Then BAM... now this.
Americans are getting ass-raped in their own country, their own backyard - *****-up healthcare, warrantless wiretaps, arrests, among others. You guys sued McDonald's for not putting a warning sign on the cup of obviously hot, scalding coffee you ordered, but you let your government get away with these kind of things. I think it is safe to say that all of the people concerned and aware of what is happening across the globe is waiting for the American people to do something about it. Campaigning and voting for Ron Paul or Barack Obama is nice and all but isn't enough. Problem is now, and the war is imminent. This calls for drastic measures. United, massive rally/revolution/mob rule to topple the current government is way past due. That's my idea. You Americans should have better.
Social media sites like Digg and Reddit are full of people showing zeal and fervor campaigning for their preferred candidates. What I am hoping to see next is people uniting together with the same feelings, on the streets, revolting against Bush. - fairley7, on 01/14/2008, -7/+89You have it exactly backwards. Before Bush's axis of evil speech, the Iranians had a moderate government that offered to cooperate with the US on Afghanistan. The Bush Administration's black/white extremist rhetoric helped bring Iranian hardliners to power. Continued saber-rattling by Bush will STRENGTHEN the current regime, not weaken it. Bush loves these hard-liners, just likes he loves Osama bin Laden. Having enemies adds to his power.
- swordedge, on 01/14/2008, -7/+86WE must confront Bush. WE need to find a way to get him to stay the hell out of other peoples business. I have no idea what, if anything will force Bush to listen to his OWN people.
- jaymzdean, on 01/14/2008, -14/+89I ***** HATE Bush. Don't like it? ***** YOU too.
- deadbaby, on 01/14/2008, -7/+82World to Bush: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice... you can't fool me twice.
- rarson, on 01/14/2008, -4/+78How cute, Bush thinks that Iran is America.
- Y3T1, on 01/14/2008, -11/+72I really don't get bush, does he really like making wars? Is he obsessed with power? Its beyond me now.
- TheRealToma, on 01/14/2008, -4/+64LEAVE IRAN ALOOOONE!!!
- ohiomama, on 01/14/2008, -3/+56pot. kettle. black.
- ZeroOrDie, on 01/14/2008, -18/+64Russia, Iran, and all enemy Arab nations must join together to confront Bush.
- jaymzdean, on 01/14/2008, -4/+50I the entire history of the world, there's only been one nation that's been "loopy" enough to use nukes. Your hypocrisy isn't self evident, and that's part of the problem.
- iticu, on 01/14/2008, -10/+53Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's super-Bush, saving the world!
Give me a break. - hangingchad, on 01/14/2008, -4/+47President Bush, please SFTU!!!!
By the way, this is all about oil. The three biggest oil reserves are Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Iran. We're sort of friends with SA, you all know about Iraq, only Iran isn't playing nice. If you want to know why Iran hates us so much, wiki Iran to learn about our influence in overthrowing their government in the 1950's, installing the brutal Shah, supporting Iraq in the Iran-Iraq war, and imposing sanctions on them. Knowledge is power. - aaroh, on 01/14/2008, -5/+4610 bucks bush will strike his own country before the presidential elections and blame it on Iran
- themonkman, on 01/14/2008, -5/+42This is what I think is going on. Feel free to humor me here. Bush knew at the beginning of his Presidency that the Government was not only in debt $38 Trillion due to future obligations (Social Security, Medicare, as quoted from David Walker, the governments top GAO-accountant) but that inflation would be on a steady rise along with the price of oil over the next 8-10 years. Geologists have estimated that the world had approximately 50 years worth of oil reserves in all of the known wells. Now, $38 Trillion is not only more than we currently have, but more than we have in all of our markets combined. He saw the inevitable economic collapse this would cause unless we cut spending severely. Instead of doing that, he tried to find any reason he could to go to war and secure the oil in the oil-rich Middle Eastern countries. The amount of revenue the Federal Government could stand to gain in taxes, and the amount that American companies would gain in monetary units by controlling this oil is massive. Prior to the Iraq invasion, Iraq had decided to stop trading oil in US Dollars. Instead, they decided to use the Petro-Euro. This comes as a devastating blow and would drive oil prices through the roof since the Euro was much stronger in purchasing power to the Dollar. To buy form Iraq, we'd have to convert our Dollar to Euro's (which at current market rate 1 Euro costs the US $1.481) which obviously puts us at a great loss. Paul Wolfowitz (former President of the World Bank Group) strategized that we could go to war with Iraq and pay for the war by selling (read - stealing) their oil. Afterwards we'd install a western-leaning government that would give oil to the US at a steep discount and hopefully switch back to purchasing oil with the Petro-Dollar rather than the Petro-Euro. Obviously, selling oil to pay for the war hasn't worked for crap and the war has ballooned out of control fiscally and practically. So who is the next most oil-rich country that has not only switched to the Petro-Euro but is right next door to Iraq (making it very easy to move on in since we are nearly there already)? Iran! So he tries to beat the war drums, with the support of the Halliburton (an oil company, primarily) suckling Dick Cheney. People, you gotta wake up and see what's going on here. This has little to do with nuclear weapons. Why would it? We could wipe Iran off the face of the Earth in under 30 minutes if we had to (eg. nuclear strike - which nearly nobody wants to take off the table). The National Intelligence Estimate has even stated that Iran had abandoned their nuclear weapons program in 2003. Israel has nuclear weapons, and since they are an ally of ours we could nuke Iran in under 4 minutes even if they did have them. Remember, this is the same intelligence estimate that was doctored to lead to the Iraq War. I think that those doing the intelligence analysis have wised up due to Iraq and realized they couldn't pass on shakey information again. I believe they are really telling the truth this time. Does Bush care? Nope. He wants that oil. He's willing to let American's die to get it just because he's too stupid or stubborn to fix the issues that are draining our Government and driving us into ludicrous debt and causing all of the inflation.
- chetanthaker, on 01/14/2008, -4/+40Why does Bush want no other country to develop ? Bush is doing a weapon-deal with Saudi Arabia and sooner than later, will declare that they have weapons of mass destruction. Might get dugg down for this one, but I REALLY hope that some better president came along, whoz got the sense of PEACE !
- AlienMushroom, on 02/21/2008, -1/+36He makes money from wars. A lot of money.
- inactive, on 01/14/2008, -6/+41***** they bout to stage attacks and blame iran
- njcarlos, on 01/14/2008, -2/+37Taken from the article and modified according to the "truth" paradigm:
"[The United States] is today the world's leading state sponsor of [puppet governments]. It sends hundreds of [b]illions of dollars to extremists [and dictators] around the world while its own people face rep[ercussions] and economic hardship at home," he said in his keynote speech.
[ ] = adjusted to reflect reality - imgstacke, on 01/14/2008, -2/+36President Bizzaro
- svander, on 01/14/2008, -4/+38This sounds eerily familiar. The same talk a few months before Bush single handedly invaded and occupied Iraq...
This is extremely frightening... - rarson, on 01/14/2008, -1/+32Even if you're right, that Iran is split between two groups of people that have differing views, IT'S NONE OF OUR ***** BUSINESS. We don't need to get involved! We shouldn't be "strengthening" anything in Iran, IT'S NOT OUR COUNTRY!
- doctordbx, on 01/14/2008, -2/+32You want to hear *****? How about this. It has been delcared a public holiday in Dubai today since George Bush is here.
Originally they were going to close several of the major roads and the traffic chaos would have been horrible, and in light of this and the visting president... they gave us the day off. This has never been done for any other head of state.
I'm guessing the security overload is because they don't want the US President getting assassinated on UAE soil. - mikelieman, on 01/14/2008, -6/+35Shouldn't you be worried about the fundamentalist crazies over in Pakistan who ALREADY HAVE NUKES?
- slave1, on 01/14/2008, -1/+29Didn't he say the same things about Iraq?
- rz8472, on 01/14/2008, -3/+29Well he has Israel. But now that Howard and Blair are out of office, probably not anyone else.
Speaking of which it's very hypocritical to let Israel keep 200-500 short-range nukes (everyone knows that they have them) while not letting Iran even begin developing one; We should hold Israel to account over its not-so-secret nuke program by denying them foreign aid. - LemonDefragger, on 01/14/2008, -4/+29Why haven't we use the Impeach Hammer on this guy yet?
- buckrogers1965, on 01/14/2008, -0/+24The sequel to the block buster war Iraq is going to be Iraq 2: Iranian Boogaloo.
- iamaelephant, on 01/14/2008, -4/+28The world was never fooled (apart from those credulous ***** in the Australian and British parliaments), YOU AMERICANS were fooled. Twice. Stop blaming the rest of the world.
- AlienMushroom, on 02/21/2008, -3/+26There will be no history in a few years already with this type of momentum.
We will wait a few million years for some aliens to analyze our fossils. - Berkana, on 01/14/2008, -5/+28Here's another "Holy *****!" to add to the list: The morons in the Bush administration don't even know the difference between Suni and Shia Muslims, and have been trying to make it appear as if Iran (which is Shia) has been harboring Al Qaeda (strictly Suni; they consider Shia Muslims apostates, and killed many of them in Iraq's recent and ongoing civil war). The sad thing is, not only is the dumb-ass American public buying into this (because it's easier to be afraid than to carefully think things through), but our congress, which has as part of its duty the role of informed decision making, is also buying into this load of crap.
See this, and if you care, please digg it up. This needs to be seen!: http://digg.com/world_news/The_Truth_about_Iran_s_ ... - Jenadae, on 01/14/2008, -2/+24No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!
I just said it in 20 different languages Bush WHAT DON'T YOU GET!? - BrainInAJar, on 01/14/2008, -1/+23those incidents were precisely /because/ the US couldn't keep to it's own business.
Pearl Harbor: steel embargoes against the empire of japan ( note: the US didn't have any colonies in Asia, and Japan was only interested in controlling asia )
USS cole, 911, marine barracks bombing: oil embargoes and sabre rattling against middle eastern countries - tschau, on 01/14/2008, -1/+23The majority of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi, where we are doing anything but minding our own business. The U.S. Cole is a warship that was harbored in Yemen, the Marine Corp barracks bombing was in Lebanon - these could also hardly be considered "minding our own business."
I do not seek to justify any of these acts in whatsoever. Just don't pretend we're an innocent victim peacefully minding our own business. - janetaSiri, on 01/14/2008, -3/+25Bush's 'Saber rattling' isn't meant to strengthen the Iranian pro-western factions, it's meant to scare the ***** out of them.
You Americans scare me sometimes. - pimpofpixels, on 01/14/2008, -1/+22No, he's scaring the ***** out of everyone and making them all HATE US.
You are SO stupid. - pimpofpixels, on 01/14/2008, -2/+23He's a THIRD generation war profiteer.
It's jsut what they do. - Mizzike, on 01/14/2008, -1/+22Well, he's certainly way different than the guy I saw running for President 8 years ago when he appeared on Oprah. (Hey, I was at my mom's house visiting, ok? Go easy on me.)
- truspect0r, on 01/14/2008, -0/+21They didn't have it. The US admitted it dumbass.
- inactive, on 01/14/2008, -1/+22right now, a completely insane dictator is trying to use our nukes against iran, do you not see that?
- gthyb, on 01/14/2008, -1/+21“I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."
-Einstein - Septimus, on 01/14/2008, -3/+22Sorry Bush, you've cried wolf once to many.
Even at the faintest hint it was true, no one is going to listen to you. - inactive, on 01/14/2008, -0/+19It starts with quotes like that. Then one day you find yourself face planting off your bike after choking on a pretzel.
- lostmongoose, on 01/14/2008, -0/+19You can take this any way you want: It's been 60yrs. Israel needs to sink or swim on it's own now.
- oxymoron69, on 01/14/2008, -3/+21Ummmm, why does Israel need aid?
They seem to have their paws in everything, and if you're not with them then you're against them.
How did it come to be that they seem to be setting themselves up to be the head of a new empire? -
