- djAnakin, on 11/27/2007, -5/+131***** sickening. Nevermind that Muhammad is one of the most common names on the planet. These people are sheep and they need to wake up and realize that not everyone HAS to believe what they believe.
- oreonblade, on 11/27/2007, -5/+113"...groups of young men had gathered outside the Khartoum police station where she was taken and were shouting death threats."
***** morons. They epitomize religious stupidity. - active1x0, on 11/27/2007, -9/+96Just the peaceful religion of Islam, folks. Nothing to see here, please move along...
- docepac, on 11/27/2007, -11/+87In this article we find out that the the teacher gets a lesson in the religion on Islam.
- Reyshell, on 11/27/2007, -33/+99Who the hell wants to live around a bunch of backward Muslims anyway?
- natedouglas, on 11/27/2007, -10/+72I feel compelled to mention that this is an act of government, not just religion. If Muslims, Christians, Jews, Sikhs, or ***** want to oppress people in their own community, and we have laws against such things, we can preserve life and health and liberty. The minute we derive law from religion, though, we become helpless to intercede.
Keep religion, any religion, every religion, out of politics. - CondoleezzaRice, on 11/27/2007, -1/+52Maybe they should be punishing no one.
- NinjaPig, on 11/27/2007, -2/+44They should've named him McLovin.
- poidh, on 11/27/2007, -7/+49Simple-minded? Unable to think for yourself? Hate women? Violent psychopath?
Then give Islam a try! - rey1867, on 11/27/2007, -26/+59The same amount of people who want to live around the bunch of ignorant Christians in Texas :D
- Bagos1, on 11/27/2007, -1/+30I feel sorry for these great people who leave home to go teach in a strange land to help the children of an impoverished and backwards country, only to end up in this condition. It really does make you think that this so called religion is either fundamentally flawed or completely being abused by it's interpretations.
- inactive, on 11/27/2007, -10/+37***** religion, especially organized one.
- Acecrow, on 11/27/2007, -4/+29My laptop's name is Muhammed and I'm a Muslim. I'm serious. I've never heard of anything against naming something Muhammed and I study Islam 3 times a week. It's just name. Grow up.
- Eldavidos, on 11/27/2007, -0/+25So do you think it would be a bad idea to take my pet pig, Muhammad, to the Sudan?
- sonycam, on 11/27/2007, -2/+25This is so disgusting. She went to Africa to help children learn, she didn't exactly go there for the money. I love the way that after these kinds of stories on the news you have some 'Muslim Community Leader' who says that Islam is a religion of peace, equality and respect. What a load of bollocks!
- imcharming, on 11/27/2007, -3/+25And they say Islam is a peaceful religion
- frygar, on 11/27/2007, -5/+24Religion of peace, my ass.
- natedouglas, on 11/27/2007, -8/+25Yeah, it's a good thing no one has ever had their life destroyed in the US because of an archaic, simple-minded religious concept introduced into law.

The "politically correct" are ***** who will look for any excuse to justify the atrocities of non-Westerners, and exploit every opportunity to disparage and undermine Western civilization for even the slightest imperfection. - chicoer2001, on 11/27/2007, -0/+16I wonder if people who are named Muhammed get lashed. It's ok to name a person, but not a teddy bear.
- Guncrazy, on 11/27/2007, -1/+16Heh...I wonder what I'd get if I told them that my dog's name is Mohammed.
- kooft, on 11/27/2007, -3/+17"...they need to wake up and realize that not everyone HAS to believe what they believe."
I agree with you on that point and if Muslims (or any other religious group) came to my home town and demanded I behave in a specific manner or face lashings, or worse, I'd be mortified. Keep in mind that this teacher was in Sudan and when you're in another country, you're subject to that country's laws. - keyslammer, on 11/27/2007, -8/+22Another backward Muslim extremist...thinking women are good for one purpose only...to give them their precious sons that they name Muhammad. Oh brother.
- 1town, on 11/27/2007, -3/+17Tom-a-to, tom-ah-to, it's all ***** medieval religion
- Alexandru25, on 11/27/2007, -2/+16no no I like daxsymbiont's post better... ***** ALL religion
- empraptor, on 11/27/2007, -3/+17I think both of you are right.
- expectnothing, on 11/27/2007, -2/+16"You can't stand the thought of America having freedom of religion (namely Christianity) and celebrating Christian holidays."

- MerryMortician, on 11/27/2007, -0/+12Thats it.. im naming my junk "Muhammed and the twins"
- DestroyFascism, on 11/27/2007, -5/+17You are all ***** mad.....
- e61iuser, on 11/27/2007, -0/+12It's peace by the sword for them my friend. Peace by the sword.
- sonycam, on 11/27/2007, -0/+11She ran a poll and 20/23 of the children in her class wanted it to be called Muhammad. Why aren't the MUSLIM children getting lashed, if it was so well known in their culture that you can't call a teddy bear Muhammad then surely they would've known?
- inactive, on 11/27/2007, -0/+11YEah they have to round up the local clerics to decide this *****? ***** Mohamed and ***** islam!!
- poidh, on 11/27/2007, -1/+12I think the point is that it's offensive in this case because an infidel allowed the teddybear to be called Muhammad. As a student of Islam, you'll be well aware that infidels are subhuman and are to be despised and persecuted.
- wild, on 11/27/2007, -1/+12Seriously? You're putting a TinyURL in a digg comment? And you expect people to actually click on it?
- muniak, on 11/27/2007, -2/+12Typically I also have a hard time noticing sarcasm.
- ICSU, on 11/27/2007, -3/+13So what have you done about it lately?
- drewdown112, on 11/27/2007, -11/+21Wow, this is over the top. Maybe they should be punishing the kids and not the teacher here...
- MarkOfTheDead, on 11/27/2007, -0/+10and prejudices, apparently.
- e61iuser, on 11/27/2007, -0/+10Sorry to say dude, but if you read their Koran, according to their twisted belief system everyone HAS to believe what they believe. Not the Christians which people here seem to keep wanting to assert but Islam which has that proviso of believe or DIE, not just spiritually but physically.
- inactive, on 11/27/2007, -2/+12Ha ha ha.
Muhammed is an *****. - colonelbuckshot, on 11/27/2007, -7/+16What the heck is she doing in Sudan? She is culturally out of her depth there. There is plenty she could be doing in her native England.
- MorbenDK, on 11/27/2007, -1/+10This is the action of the Sudanese government, not just a *few* extremists.
- scott2007, on 11/27/2007, -2/+11The title is perfectly accurate. She is in fact facing that particular punishment. She is also facing the other two punishments. The notion of possibility is inherent to the definition of "to face".
- DestroyFascism, on 11/27/2007, -2/+10Line to the left, one cross only...
- smirkypants, on 11/27/2007, -0/+8I guess the next time I'm in the Sudan, I'll change my little friend's nickname to "Johnson."
- CondoleezzaRice, on 11/27/2007, -11/+18The same amount of people who want to live around the bunch of ignorant Jews in Capitol Hill :D
- inactive, on 11/27/2007, -0/+7My Muhammad sausage and eggs are on the way....freedom of speech is amazing aint it?
- DocHoliday22, on 11/27/2007, -1/+8The world is a ***** up place regardless of which continent you live in....
