- toddomatic, on 05/20/2008, -5/+31update: "IN CUSTODY"
- abid786, on 10/12/2007, -6/+24Thing is, Al Qaeda isn't the only group that is trying to grab a piece of the action. There are MANY other groups (Iranian Shia, Iraqi Shia, Kurds, Iraqi Sunni etc.) that are all trying to get a hand in "running" Iraq. News like this means very little to the overall stability of the region, unfortunately.
- RoflcopterFUEL, on 10/12/2007, -12/+30big ***** deal, there will a thousand others willing to replace him.
- iceperson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Wait, I thought there was no Iraq/Al-Qaida connection...
- jerryparid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17@ jivatmanx
One down; couple thousand to go. There will be someone that would replace him within 24 hours. Lets all remember the fact that we have no formal information on Al-Qaida (a loosely used term by the administration). This won't hinder them one bit. - NoStoppingUs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17update 2: it seems msnbc cant decide whether he is in custody or not. currently, its unknown.
- bharbhar, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19We also killed the last one. Yeah, war is over.
- goffy59, on 10/12/2007, -6/+20AMERICA!..... ***** YEAH!
- Revan01, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17Al Qaida in Iraq? Lets see where this goes....
- drjekelmrhyde, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18These guys are like Whack-A-mole
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Does this mean the car-bombings are going to stop now? No?
"Keep firing, *****!" -Dark Helmet (Space Balls) - nestafett, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11"the top dog rules the rest and the way to evolve is to destroy the weaker ones. It just happens that we are the world's dominant subset of the human species... its time we conquer."
is it just me or is that not the same thought process of fascism?
And about china taking over, the way America will lose its power is by bankrupting itself, Its how we beat the USSR, we outspent them, we are bankrupting ourselves now and expensive unnecessary wars are not going to help
Besides, even if we wouldv'e gone in and everything went fine other countries would still catch up economically, it doesn't have an effect in that way on them. - evensong, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11How does one misspell Al-Qaeda if it's on your damn browser window?
- cheekybastard, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11How many leaders does Al Queda have? All I hear is kill, capture, kill, kill, capture ..... Are they franchise based terrorism? Or is it just another MLM gimmick?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7@harbi: Cat Stevens has advocated the fatwah against Salman Rushdie.
That sure is peaceful. - tuxerware, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Breaking news = Dugg down!
- LilRabbitFooFoo, on 08/11/2008, -1/+7dugg down because of the words BREAKING NEWS in the title
- evensong, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Yes, and?
One falls, another rises to take his place. - OriginalLucid1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8"Actually "Al Quida in Iraq" is a real organization, it just has little to no ties to Osama's Al Quaeda."
AQ in Iraq communicates with Zawahiri, and shares the same goals as Osama. To say they have no ties is wrong, unless you mean they couldn't find time to attend the annual convention. - Flipsen, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Mission accomplished!
- nixonrichard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Digg needs a filter which removes "BREAKING NEWS:" from any article posted more than 6 hours earlier.
- zweben, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Haha, "if you're not tolerant, go kill yourself".
Wow. - cuoops, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I just heard on the BBC that this is not true. According to the military.
- wbreim, on 10/12/2007, -18/+23@nestafett
have you ever lived outside the U.S. ? i have members of my family in 3 continents. and while there are countries "more free" than America, the U.S. is the most Free world single superpower the world has ever had. Can you imagine what planet this would be with another nation being the ONLY world superpower, say mmmm the USSR, if it had "won" the cold war? - burkay, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Dugg down for stupid capitalization.
- GoustiFruit, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Don't forget that there was NO Al-Qaida in Irak before the US invasion. Now Irak has become an open zone for terrorism, and US allowed Al-Qaida to implant there.
- InfamousX241, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Is there an incorrect way to spell Al-Qaeda?
- Tiak, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8dugg down out of sympathy for terrorists.
- Tiak, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7@crass22
Actually "Al Quida in Iraq" is a real organization, it just has little to no ties to Osama's Al Quaeda. - nestafett, on 10/12/2007, -16/+20Cat Stevens (Yusuf Islam) is a peaceful Muslim who is not affiliated with Al Qaida
- EndersGame, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6wbreim the difference is we are not an empire, and most nations across the world have collectively become more civilized then aimlessly trying to take over the world. I am from America but if we as a country think we can crush anybody that gets in our way just because its our manifest destiny, we need to be nuked right now with everything the world's got.
- Netwatcher, on 10/12/2007, -7/+11Hurray, we've caught the number three in Al Qaida... again?
How many number threes is that now, I lost track after that last five. - FatHed, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Hmm, no, sarcasm, maybe it was a little thick.
I'm the type of person that thinks most Americans do not understand their own rights, and how they've been trampled on for far too long. And I am an American. I also understand that pre-emeptive war is a slippery slope to ride, slippery because of the blood of fellow Americans. - Rikushix, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9Only it's generally more effective to whack them with submachine guns and smoke grenades, rather then soft, padded mallets.
- AdmiralAdama, on 10/12/2007, -7/+10We need to capture these sons of bitches and turn them, like I did with Boomer
- ppatalano, on 10/12/2007, -8/+11Another over hyped story, to keep the US's hearts and minds focused on the war against terrorism and Al-Quaide.
- cheekybastard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Not cannibalism but tribalism, ethnic cleansing or genocide.
- Fire4Effect, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8Whoa whoa whoa, the war in Iraq is still being fought? I could have SWORN I saw a "Mission Accomplished" banner behind the President while he gave a congratulatory speech a few years ago. Hrm, maybe I just caught the ending of Top Gun and got confused....
- OriginalLucid1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4You are correct. It is kinda like New Orleans, but not quite as bad.
- burkay, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8@wbreim
I don't know a single failed emperor/king/president who didn't claim what you claimed. - postal21, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Because unfortunately the "war on terror" is alot like the "war on drugs"...
Everytime you take someone out, someone else is going to step-up and take their place. - ppatalano, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4It's besides the point that I spelled it wrong it's much more of interest that the truth is this story is a marketing ploy by the US gov't to keep a simple person active in believing that there is a cause behind the plan.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Rampant retard. Blocked.
- 1dog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Before 9-11 there might of been about 30,000 radical Islamics. After Iraq you think there aren't 3,000,000 now. Al qaida now is just like a product identification like fast food. There are all kinds and shapes and sizes now. I see Muslim people all over Milwaukee now dressed in full Muslim wears. At least the Mexicans wear Yankee Caps. I think the War on terror is a giant snowball rocking back and forth on top of a snow covered hill, waiting for a big push.
- evodevo1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4What I don't get about these people is that while they claim to be doing all this under the claim of Islamic jihad, they are killing other MUSLIMs! I mean the muslim deaths are not collateral damage but rather innocent muslim civilians are targeted in mosques, markets, etc. The Shia, Sunnis, Kurds (most of them) believe in islam and yet they go and massacre each other. This can only be equated to cannibalism
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The terrorists can't tell the difference between the Americans in the civilians? What a coincidence, we still can't figure out the difference between the terrorists and the civilians! Clearly, the only thing to do is to kill everybody! Including the British soldiers because they're trying to steal our glory and truthiness.
- fatlip, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4my only question is.. how many "leaders" are there? every other day it seems like they caught or killed a "leader" or a "key member"
is this an army of generals? - KoderOne, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3>>How does one misspell Al-Qaeda if it's on your damn browser window?
Moron, you can't mispell Arabian words because they have their own scripture which you simply cannot convert correctly to roman letters. Same goes for the Chinese scriptures like Mandarine.
You spell Arabian words like you want to, like they sound. That is why german Newspapers sometimes call it "Al Kaida", while french newspapers say "Al-Quaidá"
The word cannot be mispelled. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The tax payers are already funding torture camps, I don't think keeping one guy alive for a few days is gonna bother them too much. Thanks for being so thoughtful though.
- Tiak, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Please note, it's spelled Al Qaida in the browser window and you spelled it Al Qaeda when criticizing someone for not following the directions of the headline... Genius.
