- thirdeyeopen, on 10/09/2009, -7/+41them turrists is makin them black holes cuz they hates muh freedum!
- Ddraig, on 10/09/2009, -4/+32I'm glad the LHC broke, Al Qaeda would have created a black hole and sucked us all in....or built an Anti-matter bomb.
- adrianscholl, on 10/09/2009, -0/+27"He was not a Cern employee and performed his research under a contract with an outside institute. His work did not bring him into contact with anything that could be used for terrorism," [Cern] said.
- melllvar37, on 10/09/2009, -3/+22The Da Vinci Code is starting to become reality! Dan Brown was right all along. Someone get Tom Hanks
- doopa, on 10/09/2009, -1/+18Don't worry, it's really not. You just need to be a grad student part of some University that's a member of the LHC experiment. There's nothing at CERN that would be that dangerous anyway.
- directedition, on 10/09/2009, -0/+16Makes me think of the bomber dude in Contact.
- publiclurker, on 10/09/2009, -0/+16Or written another ridiculous Nicholas Cage / Tom Hanks movie.
- circa1015, on 10/09/2009, -1/+16An al-Qaeda operative that could blow up the universe? Sure this isn't the plot to a James Bond film?
- swizzcheez, on 10/09/2009, -0/+15Wasn't that Angels & Demons?
- hikaruzero, on 10/09/2009, -4/+17Meanwhile conservatives tell us that *everybody* wants to attack us ...
- glaz, on 10/09/2009, -1/+13Ahh Americans, can't even google themselves out of it thesedays.
- Rockkybox, on 10/09/2009, -0/+12What a load of fear mongering
- feezus, on 10/09/2009, -1/+13Holy crap. That's an impressive infiltration.
- sonnybobiche, on 10/09/2009, -0/+11Centre Europee de Recherche Nucleaire
spelling might not be perfect; It's been some time since I wrote any french. - Vietrmx, on 10/09/2009, -0/+11Just like Sam Harris said, it's perfectly possible to be so intelligent that you could build a nuclear bomb (or in this case...I don't even know what al-Qaeda would want to do with the LHC) and still believe you'll get the 42 virgins in heaven.
- BoneStamp, on 10/09/2009, -0/+11I smell a Steven Seagal movie.
- seltaeb4, on 10/09/2009, -0/+11i slam history?
- bootie, on 10/09/2009, -0/+11Quick! Someone get Kiefer Sutherland out of the drunk tank, the world needs him!!!
- travcm, on 10/09/2009, -1/+9font makes cern look like cem
- seltaeb4, on 10/09/2009, -0/+7Or 72 white raisins...
- melllvar37, on 10/09/2009, -4/+11isn't it essentially the same movie? ;)
- copypastry, on 10/09/2009, -0/+6Those who slam history are domed to reap eat it.
- PeterODactyl, on 10/10/2009, -2/+8yes
- anonymousmedic, on 10/09/2009, -0/+5What if they had gotten a hold of the LHC? They could have blackhole'd us all like a 70s porn star.
/s - hikaruzero, on 10/09/2009, -3/+8Wow, really? You have to ask? xD How about Glenn Beck for starters. Let's throw on Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, hell Bush himself stood up in front of America touting ***** like, "they hate us for our freedom!"
Now obviously, I'm being ironic in my original comment, I was poking fun at what jerrdalton said, but in reality if you ask just about ANY prominent conservative political figure if they think that Muslims, Atheists, Communists, Marxists, Socialists, or any other demonized group hates us to the point that they would attack us because they feel threatened by our notion of freedom, the sad fact is that most of them will answer YES! It's astounding how far these people have their heads up their asses!
Hell, some of these people -- notably Beck and Limbaugh -- go out of their way to BEG for America to be attacked, to hope and publicly pray that the current President of the United States will be shot to death, I mean WHAT THE *****. YOU CANNOT LOVE AMERICA AND PRAY FOR THE PRESIDENT'S DEATH. These people inspire so much fear and anger in the dumbest percentile of the populace that people actually go out and plot to assassinate the people that these conservative pundits demonize. Meanwhile the pundits sit back and say, "no blood on my hands!" It's ***** appaling. - papashawn, on 10/09/2009, -0/+5blatant troll is blatant.
- andregriffin, on 10/09/2009, -0/+5That was not one word. Also, Muzzie is the monster who teaches kids how to speak French on VHS.
- mrdude4290, on 10/10/2009, -0/+4Well they already took down the twin towers a while back
- Shiftgood, on 10/09/2009, -3/+7I think liberals think that there are things more powerful than bombs. Not that nobody wants to attack us. dont be such a silly goose.
- dhughes, on 10/09/2009, -0/+4 Quick, get the fringed leather jacket out of storage!
- gaymathman, on 10/10/2009, -0/+4The worst the guy could ever do would be to damage the LHC, although Cern's doing a decent job of keeping it offline..
- Crimeodial, on 10/09/2009, -1/+4Weak strawman, I'll give it a 5.
- boonesfarm, on 10/09/2009, -0/+3FTA: "He was not a Cern employee and performed his research under a contract with an outside institute...".
Regardless, Cern and the Hadron collider would be a rich target. I'm glad their security practices are proactive.. don't care if the suspects are a little offended by being held and questioned. - gaymathman, on 10/10/2009, -0/+3Thankfully the French have a hand in the LHC operation; were the Swiss running it, the LHC would already be operational, and that terrorist would have surely found a way to use it to destroy the world, AND win the Nobel prize in physics at the same time!
- gaymathman, on 10/10/2009, -1/+4How to get inside Cern (almost definitely, any of the conditions below)
Be a graduate student at a Swiss or French college in particle physics.
Have a PHd in a relevant field of physics.
Have advanced knowledge of related fields.
Be good at breaking particle accelerators (kidding) - Evolutuon, on 10/09/2009, -1/+4Other languages have different grammar systems I guess you could say. For instance, in french, you would say Etats-Unis d'Amerique for United States of America.
- lostinseganet, on 10/09/2009, -0/+3The ultimate suicide attack!
- Gareth321, on 10/10/2009, -0/+2day took our jeeeeeeeerbs!!
- plainOldFool, on 10/09/2009, -0/+2Come onedude. Jake Busey is not quite as scary as his dad.
- chrisdodges, on 10/09/2009, -0/+2Oh I didnt realize they moved this facility to the United States. Maybe all the conservatives were right, they do want to attack America on our soil!
- bradleyland, on 10/09/2009, -1/+3Except for, you know, hadrons traveling at 99.9999991% the speed of light!
- gaymathman, on 10/10/2009, -0/+2Come on, the terrorist has a PHd. He'd surely be smart enough not to rely on anything even partially French (How's throwing that on switch going, Cern?).
\s - boogerthecat, on 10/09/2009, -0/+2I think that prefer the terrorists to Sea-Gull.
Terrorists are one and done. Sea-Gull comes back and haunts you on cable for years. - kaosethema, on 10/09/2009, -0/+2babelfish anarchist!!
- copypastry, on 10/09/2009, -0/+2Or 72 blue m&ms
- deff, on 10/09/2009, -0/+2Jake Busey is still pretty frightening.
- copypastry, on 10/09/2009, -0/+2It would only take them 9 billion years to get enough antimatter.
THE CLOCK IS TICKING - emjaymj, on 10/10/2009, -0/+1Clearly the narcissist capital of the world
- rheaume, on 10/09/2009, -0/+1Same here
