- oteque, on 03/22/2009, -2/+50R.I.P. For some reason..there are lots of plane crashes news recently..
- inactive, on 03/22/2009, -1/+40So sad. Reports are that there were "numerous" children on board.
- inactive, on 03/23/2009, -1/+32BREAKING: This happened 20 hours ago.
- Haoie, on 03/23/2009, -0/+28It crashed in a graveyard, of all places.
- Acill, on 03/23/2009, -3/+29Dont post something as BREAKING to attempt a front page. This is nearly 24 hours old now.
- michellets, on 03/23/2009, -1/+23@oteque. Agreed. It's like we opened the floodgates. We go years without a major plane crash, then all of a sudden there are quite a few within weeks of each other.
- anonymous1986, on 03/23/2009, -1/+22"A two-seater Irish plane has crashed into a graveyard. It is being called the worst crash yet for Ireland as 837 bodies have already been recovered."
- jggube, on 03/23/2009, -1/+19Condolences to the friends and families the victims of this tragic accident.
- DeskFlyer, on 03/23/2009, -0/+17This coming right before an FedEx MD-11 cartwheeled on a Japan runway earlier today. Not a good day in aviation at all.
- inactive, on 03/23/2009, -0/+15Because it is less sad when it is ugly children?
- doctechnical, on 03/23/2009, -3/+16Gravity.
- CoD4, on 03/23/2009, -2/+15Don't mean to sound like an ass, but why are people more concerned about the children all the time?
They're all human lives - ChaosProfessor, on 03/23/2009, -0/+12They were also over capacity on the plane it was designed to carry 12 people,
- MasonZombie, on 03/23/2009, -0/+11Seriously, wtf is with all the crashing planes?
- pwdrskier, on 03/23/2009, -0/+11not another one. this is tragic
- musntSurfatWork, on 03/23/2009, -0/+8CNN > Digg on this one.
- AlaskaLoneWolf, on 03/23/2009, -0/+8Sounded like some sick twisted Halloween story.
- jerrycan, on 03/23/2009, -0/+8Yeah, in the US, it is a polish joke, in Canada, it is a Newfie joke and in Brazil it is a Portuguese joke...
- greggerm, on 03/23/2009, -1/+9[NOT BREAKING]
Not only not breaking, but not 17 people.
If you're going to be late with a story, at least be late with the accurate story... - xsecretfiles, on 03/23/2009, -0/+7I was just guessing the pilot tried to at least crash away from the population into an open field..and that was the closest
- Circuit, on 03/23/2009, -0/+7Because they haven't experienced hardly anything in their lives yet, for it to be cut so short is just tragic.
- drmangrum, on 03/23/2009, -3/+10WTF is with the "BREAKING" nonsense. This didn't just happen, it happened yesterday.
While it's tragic, especially since half the death toll is children, buried for labeling the title as something it isn't. - nyrol2, on 03/23/2009, -8/+14At least they won't have to go far to be buried. Just like this comment!
- cassaffousth, on 03/23/2009, -0/+6It was posted 15 hours ago. Digg is slow.
- Procure, on 03/23/2009, -2/+7''There were a lot of kids in the group,'' he said. ''A lot of really cute kids.''
:-( - zombiecarlin, on 03/23/2009, -0/+5Digg, where breaking news takes 15 hours from submission to frontpage. You are better off getting your news by mail.
- ssjaken, on 03/23/2009, -1/+6this plane only seats 9........
- Harabeck, on 03/23/2009, -1/+6If we take life expectancy to be about 75, then children on average have lost more hypothetical years than adults who die. Also, the human brain is wired to respond to children more.
- Humptydank, on 03/23/2009, -0/+5You're getting *way* ahead of the facts.
- inactive, on 03/23/2009, -0/+5I've always heard that as a Polish joke.
- ssjaken, on 03/23/2009, -0/+4this type of airplane only is supposed to seat 9 passengers
- brucealmighty, on 03/23/2009, -1/+5First reports are that there were 17 people on board a plane designed for 12. Some were children but if it was a ski trip they would have probably been big enough to each need a seat. Seems like this might turn out to be at least a contributing factor, perhaps affecting the planes handling characteristics at critical moments.
- Autodidaddict, on 03/23/2009, -2/+6We have to let the story hit reddit first. Relax.
- doctechnical, on 03/23/2009, -0/+4Yeah, but half the passengers were kids, so I guess the pilot didn't think it was overloaded. There's speculation that he was landing in Montana to re-fuel, perhaps the extra load burned more fuel than he expected and he ran out just short of the airport...?
Actually, when I RTFA I see it says the pilot filed a flight plan. The newest information says that's not true, and it's going to hamper the investigation. - cassaffousth, on 03/23/2009, -0/+4This was posted15 hours ago. Blame diggers instead.
- draxenato, on 03/23/2009, -0/+4It's because after every major incident aircraft maintenance is stepped up and everyone becomes a bit more vigilant for a while. A few years later and everyone's back in the same ole same ole kinda groove, folks get lazy, mistakes are missed and the chances of failures start to rise. That's why these things come in cycles.
- Harabeck, on 03/23/2009, -0/+3Read carefully, it sounds like they had more people than seats on board.
- max1018, on 03/23/2009, -0/+3What the hell are you on about?
- ChaosProfessor, on 03/23/2009, -0/+2You don't have to have a flight plan; Over capacity is still over capacity, and kids still use as much luggage as adults +skis and such, I am guessing they were over weight, to compensate the pilot put in extra fuel which made him even more over weight so he burnt fuel extra quick, an it didn't end well, planes don't fall out of the sky, he landed 500 ft from the runway, he could have glided in if anything, he undershot it or something, i am guessing pilot error.
- Humptydank, on 03/24/2009, -0/+2Or perhaps I'm so far ahead, I've lapped the facts and only appear behind.
- Autodidaddict, on 03/23/2009, -1/+3idiot
- frishackbanned, on 03/23/2009, -0/+2No more sad than if it was 7 adults though.
- ebolaworld, on 03/23/2009, -2/+4It has to be a celebrity for people to care about the death of an adult.
- TSK05, on 03/23/2009, -0/+2This was "broken" while I was flying back from Arizona yesterday, over 15 hours ago.
- MelekTawus, on 03/25/2009, -0/+1In this case, it was the children of a guy who owns some abortion providers, and it was God who caused the crash.
http://digg.com/world_news/God_kills_family_of_abo ... - Mersonix, on 03/23/2009, -0/+1Irony.
My pary are to the father, who lost his chrilden. - commentposted, on 03/28/2009, -0/+1A friend of mine had cousins on that plane. RIP, Jacobsons.
- Philbert, on 03/23/2009, -0/+1And no live feed was broken.
- Philbert, on 03/23/2009, -0/+1Just don't post it as "breaking" at all since it's the internet, not a live TV broadcast that can be broken (interrupted).
- Hoogie7Dowser, on 03/24/2009, -0/+1exactly his point ssjaken
