- iRoy, on 02/07/2009, -2/+537He wasn't a boy, he was a man for standing up like that. R.I.P.
- techguru2006, on 02/07/2009, -2/+411Dugg for the kid's bravery.
- Wulffy, on 02/07/2009, -5/+369"The next evening the 35-year-old would-be rapist was caught by an army officer, who was later awarded for this action."
I heard a story from a Russian woman. She talked about Russian prisons. She told me that it is sufficient to lock the criminal up into prison and inform the other prisoners about his crime. They will pay daily attention to him and no prison guard will disturb them. Normally those criminals hang-up themselves within a few months. - AriaStar, on 02/07/2009, -3/+228What a brave boy, definitely loved his sister. I feel so sad for his sister and parents (and an other relatives). The parents should be proud though that they raised a boy who would defend his family with his life instead of running away.
- AlaskaLoneWolf, on 02/07/2009, -11/+230мальчик - истинный герой
- assbeard, on 02/07/2009, -9/+183tragical? is that a mix of tragic and magical?
- compgeek, on 02/07/2009, -3/+168Funny thing that. Even inside prisons there is a code of ethics. where I live in Canada there was a huge case back in the early 90's of a guy that raped and killed 2 teenage girls. He HAD to put in solitary when they put him in prison because in the general population he was being beaten to a pulp. Inside prison wife beaters and child molesters are the lowest of the low. I guess prisoners see it as ok it's one thing to do an action against an adult who has a fighting chance it's quite another to beat your wife/girlfriend or go after kids
- terracottapai, on 02/07/2009, -12/+168Wow! Sarah Palin was right!
He learned Russian just from being in Alaska! - portnoy, on 02/07/2009, -8/+145But acting on those urges should be considered a crime.
- inactive, on 02/07/2009, -37/+172What a tragical story! I'm usually a pacifist, but I would condemn all those pedophiles with a death sentence!
- Gr00ver, on 02/07/2009, -4/+125That took more bravery than most adults have. Humanity, as a whole, is proud of you Evgeny. You showed true honor and love for your sister.
May you rest in peace. - slyzxx, on 02/07/2009, -3/+122RIP kid.
- inactive, on 02/07/2009, -13/+115Dugg, but I assume you mean pedophile rapist. Being a pedophile shouldn't be considered a crime it should be considered a mental disorder.
- redwolfwalker, on 02/07/2009, -4/+105The boy was a true hero.
- superflydugg, on 02/07/2009, -9/+107I know it's important to focus on the heroic actions of this young man who will never be forgotten by his family for what he did that night.
But as a man of 25 with two teenage sisters when I read stories like these I can only think one thing towards coward rapists; rage, true, deep, unhindered rage. That guy would beg for police after what I would do to him...and I would serve my sentence proudly. - inactive, on 02/07/2009, -4/+101@portnoy
I absolutely agree and didn't mean to imply otherwise. - PhuzyBuny, on 02/07/2009, -3/+93He's probably half your age, maybe one third, or even one fifth but he has done something more extraordinary than most people could even fathom. Many of us would only say they would die for love. Evgeny has done just that.
Rest in peace. - AriaStar, on 02/07/2009, -4/+84Translation of LoneWolf's message:
The boy - a true hero.
Я соглашаюсь. - Fozefy, on 02/07/2009, -4/+82It depends really what you mean by pedophile....in the US being a pedophile includes a 19 year old with a 15 year old. While I don't condone it, I don't agree it should be a crime of that magnitude. The 15 year old is old enough at that age to know what they are doing.
However, pedophile rapists are the biggest scum of the world and can burn in hell (if of course the aforementioned place actually existed). ;) - AriaStar, on 02/07/2009, -4/+76Pretty much the same in the US. Child-murders and rapists are usually dealt with...appropriately...in prison. "Honor among thieves" excepts to "honor among murders/rapists", and even the Aryan Brotherhood wouldn't let Manson be a full-fledged member (they used his connections, but wouldn't let him really take part) because he ordered the murder of a pregnant woman. Not like I'm trying to defend the AB here because they're still deplorable, but when even one of the most hardcore prison gangs won't put up with people hurting kids, you're ***** if you go to jail for killing or raping a kid.
And this ***** killed a kid trying to protect his sister from this *****'s attempted rape. - shiftkgb, on 02/07/2009, -0/+65IMO if a 7 year old ran away, hes not really a coward. Hes seven.
- ammundsen, on 02/07/2009, -3/+67I'd say its just that we all want to think we are somehow better than someone else. Heavy alcohol users and prescription drug users think they are better than a cocaine or marijuana user. Bankers think they are better than loan sharks. We condemn our ancestors for slavery and yet have conscription. People, both in and out of prison, are just hypocrites.
- Kerrigore, on 02/07/2009, -0/+64"I've never understood the mentality of beating your wife. I mean, it's YOUR wife. It's like keying your own car." - Jimmy Carr
- inactive, on 02/07/2009, -3/+62GJ kid..
- ternaryworks, on 02/07/2009, -1/+60I not only logged in just to digg this up, after Digg redirected me to another page I came all the way back just to do so.
- DouglasQ, on 02/07/2009, -1/+53Where do you want them to be? In the ***** cupboard?
- ElGubrush, on 02/07/2009, -7/+58You know what, I'm not even going to be a smartass and try to come up with funny comments this time.
God bless this boy's soul. - MatzahMan, on 02/07/2009, -2/+52That kid deserves a memorial
- AriaStar, on 02/07/2009, -6/+55N one ordered the boy to defend his sister. He loved her and wanted to keep her safe. Would you let your sister or your daughter get raped because better to have her raped and you both alive? If so, please go sterilize yourself.
- inactive, on 02/07/2009, -4/+5311 1/2 hours and not a single Pedobear ASCII...I'm proud of you, Digg.
- Rand0m411, on 02/07/2009, -2/+49He may have been a boy, but he died as a man. Even in our current world, children still know the difference between right and wrong.
- CynicSight, on 02/07/2009, -0/+4299.9% of the time, I would... But really, this story doesn't need that...
R.I.P. little hero dude - thefarouk, on 02/07/2009, -2/+44Huzzah for you, Evgeny - rest in peace.
- swicken, on 02/07/2009, -2/+43It's times like these where I sincerely wish there is some sort of afterlife, cause this kid deserves more...
- Beanseh, on 02/07/2009, -3/+41evidently chivalry isn't dead
- roebeet, on 02/07/2009, -0/+37The guy stabbed a seven year old boy eight times with a knife. Do you think he was going to let the girl live, after he raped her?
- OverZealousHobo, on 02/07/2009, -0/+35thats funny, because I like existing words http://www.thefreedictionary.com/tragical (is a word)
- SeanRoss, on 02/08/2009, -0/+35That "boy" is more "Man" then most men...
- Moterreal, on 02/07/2009, -7/+42"Recently the Public Chamber proposed introducing the death penalty for convicted pedophiles."
+1 to Russia - Chooxo, on 02/07/2009, -1/+31Anyone else find the writing style really weird and slightly inappropriate?
"Finding nothing valuable to steal, the criminal decided to satisfy himself in a different way, by raping the girl.
But seven-year-old Evgeny had other ideas." - Lonandubh, on 02/07/2009, -0/+29And frankly, you'd probably be given mad respect in prison for your actions.
- nunofgs, on 02/07/2009, -5/+33Or he'd be raped in a fit of irony, completing the circle. :P
- inactive, on 02/07/2009, -0/+27The kids were home alone and a man broke in. Cops can't be everywhere at once, this isn't their fault.
- GalacticXenu, on 02/07/2009, -4/+29Thrusting his innocent meat into the rapists' winking sphincter, he pumped aggressively, feeling the rapist's anal cavity compress upon his boyhood.
- innocentsinner, on 02/07/2009, -1/+25Suddenly, the door burst open, and the commanding figure of Albus Dumbledore stood before them.
- m0tbaillie, on 02/07/2009, -0/+23Shut the ***** up.
- theOster, on 02/07/2009, -1/+23russian is probably the manliest looking and sounding language on the planet
- BlaqReaper, on 02/07/2009, -0/+22Other perks:
The boy’s school promised to erect a memorial in the school lobby telling Evgeny Tabakov’s story.
It also said only the best pupils would be allowed to sit in Evgeny’s old desk in his classroom.
The Governor of Moscow Region, Boris Gromov, who was present at the award ceremony, promised that the authorities will not abandon the boy’s family but will help them solve any problems they have.
It's sad to hear what happened, but it's nice to know that at least the boy got recognition for what he did. - CVL4317, on 02/07/2009, -4/+25He is the definition of family love.
(no, not incest) - TheBadWolf, on 02/07/2009, -2/+23I hope his family has the strength to make it through this. I hope his sister doesn't blame herself for this when she gets older.
