- inactive, on 01/19/2009, -11/+237When I read the headline I thought Black Death was some sort of elite special forces unit tasked to hunt down Al Qaeda, turns out its just the plague spreading because Algerians in the desert are not big bathers
- dec765, on 01/19/2009, -5/+125They could be people preparing for a biological attack on the west who were unlucky or careless
- BlackWarp, on 01/19/2009, -3/+113This has made my day. I should be deploying to Afghanistan soon, maybe I should train my own flea circus over there.
- inactive, on 01/20/2009, -1/+105Barack "Black Death" Obama, killing Al-quaeda already...
- apothekari, on 01/20/2009, -0/+85good luck dude.
come back in one piece. - Iceman4, on 01/20/2009, -2/+57Damn history, you scary!
- codyman, on 01/20/2009, -1/+55well considering their train of thought is medieval (women have no rights, kill the infidel, etc etc... you know the drill), a medieval death is quite ironic
- sasasay, on 01/19/2009, -13/+65gr8 news.. i hope all terrorists die .. I hope its true
- angusm, on 01/20/2009, -0/+47Couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of guys.
More seriously, plague can be treated with some fairly commonly-available antibiotics, including cipro and doxycycline. I'm sure that Al-Qaeda has enough resources left to score some of the medicines they need.
I wonder how they came to get infected. I hope it just happened to be endemic to the area they were in, and that this isn't a sign that they're playing around with biological weapons. Cipro or no cipro, a large scale outbreak of plague would suck. - eRenee, on 01/19/2009, -5/+48Spread by fleas on rats
"Now al Qaeda chiefs are said to fear the plague has been passed into other cells - and possibly Taliban fighters in Afghanistan.
Many insurgents may choose to surrender for treatment rather than die a horrible death.
‘This is the deadliest weapon yet in the war against terror,’ a security source told The Sun:
‘Most of the terrorists do not have the basic medical supplies needed to treat the disease.
‘It spreads quickly and kills within hours. This will be really worrying al-Qaeda.’" - inactive, on 01/20/2009, -2/+43I literally Rofl'd. I wish I could Digg you twice.

- icecycles, on 01/20/2009, -0/+27Yeah, but "Black Death" sound so much cooler.
- computerologist, on 01/20/2009, -3/+29OMG, that was awesome. As others have stated, I literally let out a chuckle when I read this.
- inactive, on 01/20/2009, -2/+25Good.
- Rjbeech12, on 01/20/2009, -4/+26I didnt realise that the black death could kill within hours as reported in the newspapers - bad stuff if your the taliban. I imagine theres a lot of normal Afghans who may contract it and dont have medical facilities to deal with it either though which is bad.
- dkapuchino, on 01/20/2009, -0/+22Why do everybody?
- inactive, on 01/20/2009, -1/+23hahaha i thought the exact same thing.
- Chunken, on 01/20/2009, -4/+25If they were preparing for a biological attack they would probably use a disease that isn't so easily treatable.
- kingmanic, on 01/20/2009, -0/+21The Plague is very susceptible to anti-biotics. Even a super strain is slow enough for us to administer a treatment of reserve classes anti-biotics. Many are also naturally immune to it. You have to have more exotic flavors of disease to really do much damage.
- peterandbeer, on 01/20/2009, -0/+20aww their being bitch slapped by their own god how adorable
- hamobu, on 01/20/2009, -3/+23Muslims actualy wash five times a day before every prayer
- icabodane, on 01/20/2009, -0/+19Yeah dude. Do you know anybody sick with black death or polio? We've kinda moved on to AIDS and cancer now.
- wunderdog, on 01/20/2009, -0/+19Bring out your dead.
Bring out your dead. - StreetPreacher, on 01/20/2009, -0/+19Keep yer head down and come home safe.
- inactive, on 01/20/2009, -7/+26wow, i know obama said he would take out those terrorists- but i didnt think he would be that quick!
- toekneebullard, on 01/20/2009, -0/+19I was hoping it WASN'T an elite military unit, just some pissed off locals that weren't going to put up with terrorism.
Either way, terrorists dying is fine in my book.
/why do I feel like Larry the Cable Guy should be on the TV while I say that? - killdashnine, on 01/20/2009, -0/+18For those who would have us living in a new Dark Ages, perhaps it's fitting? Either that, or messing around with genetic engineering is best left for those who have Hot Zones capable of containing the bugs!

- johnomaz, on 01/20/2009, -2/+19You may have negative diggs, but I thought it was funny as hell.
- aimhelix, on 01/20/2009, -3/+20Allah gave them a middle finger haha
- poidh, on 01/20/2009, -0/+16More likely that they were experimenting with biological weapons and someone sneezed.....
- BabyWookie, on 01/20/2009, -0/+16Fortunately, it's caused by a bacteria, which is now easily killed with a course of antibiotics. Same with leprosy.
- kingmanic, on 01/20/2009, -1/+17You may want to look up something called genetics and natural selection. Most Europeans and Asians come from a strain of people that are resilient to the plague. This occurred because those who were more susceptible died.
Genetic immunities are passed from your parents as are anti-bodies which provide immunity. For instance I am very resistant to malaria as is everyone with the alpha Thalasemia or carriers for sickle cell enemia. That is a genetic immunity. Many also receive large doses of anti-bodies which train the immune system when they are breast fed. - BabyWookie, on 01/20/2009, -7/+22Black Death? Really? It's called the "Bubonic Plague."
- Prasheed, on 01/20/2009, -0/+15luckily for us the "black death" is just the plague now that sounds bad but IF it did get here we have plenty of vaccines for it and it would be wiped out with little to no damage.
- antistupid, on 01/20/2009, -5/+20the plague?? The Plague?? The mother ***** that are giving us, one of if not the most advanced country in the world, so much trouble are having problems with the plague? Does anyone else see the problem here?
- dandonia, on 01/20/2009, -4/+19I think it's interesting that people think they were planning a biological attack that went wrong, rather than them been targets of an attack. The Black Death can be easily treated in a modern world by antibiotics. But in a country where medical care isn't top notch - this could be wipe out a nation.
Seems a little too much like a "perfect" (read coincidental) weapon if you ask me - not only would it spread to other Al Qaeda members but it has little risk to western life. -
I just hope it is a coincidence - biological warefare kills the innocent too and could easily go wrong. - theStig, on 01/20/2009, -2/+16funniest. digg. comment. EVAR
- nofrickenway, on 01/20/2009, -19/+33Bah! I was going to submit this as:
"Black Death Strikes on MLK Day
.... A pun? Well it isn't for Al Queda."
Much more sensationalist. - jba68, on 01/20/2009, -1/+15Allah calling his boy's home.....
GET Some Plague!!!! - ZeroCubed, on 01/20/2009, -0/+13The Black Death/Black Plague/Bubonic Plague still exists in parts of Africa, and even in America believe it or not! In the past fleas of infected rats would help transmit the disease, but if you live in the South/West you have to be careful because Prairie dogs are the carriers now, with their fleas either landing directly on you, or landing on a dog /cat and then you. Fortunately, incidences are really low, since few prairie dogs are actually infected, and conditions doesn't allow for mass infection like in the past. If we start living with prairie dogs and have filthy living conditions, then you have to worry.
