- tehowe, on 02/13/2008, -7/+50Disgusting. Cameras barking orders. When this comes to your country, will you say it's a gooood thing? Will you get up right close to the camera, and kiss it a little? Give it a little tongue? Say I looove Big Brother?
- habenneas, on 02/13/2008, -2/+43Welcome to City 17.
- poidh, on 02/13/2008, -0/+24I would advise you not to tell a camera to "wank off" because that wouldn't make sense in English, although there is probably porn of it somewhere.
Instead, try telling it to "***** off", or "piss up a rope, *****" or something like that. - user24, on 02/13/2008, -4/+23I actually live in a town in the UK where we have talking cameras. It's bloody annoying because every 2 minutes in the town center you here "there are 150 bins in the town center, please don't drop litter" because some copper who should be out fighting real crimes is instead sitting in a comfy office telling people off who drop sweet wrappers. It's very invasive, doesn't work and it's wasteful of resources.
- daverave999, on 02/13/2008, -0/+18In the 70s.
- borez, on 02/13/2008, -4/+22Talking ***** cameras? jeez louise! The UK CCTV situation is totally out of control, talk about a Security-Industrial complex. The thing that gets me is that the security industry is actually run by the very criminals the police are trying to catch?
Here's one for the record as well: I was having lunch at a restaurant with my girl on a third floor balcony overlooking the Thames, the whole of my meal was ruined by this so called called ***** security camera on the other side of the street ( positioned a bit lower than we were sitting ) zooming in and out whilst trying to get a good view up my girls ***** skirt??? Unbelievable. - Godlesswanderer, on 02/13/2008, -0/+17You have chosen, or been chosen, to relocate to one of our finest remaining urban centers.

TWO HUNDRED TALKING SURVEILANCE CAMERAS GET CHOPPED DOWN BY IRATE MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC. - makeinstall, on 02/13/2008, -0/+16Unless its in the context of, "Hey mum, Im just going upstairs to...."
- smokestack, on 02/13/2008, -1/+16in my country, they'll have to start with making them bulletproof.
- BrapAllgood, on 02/13/2008, -1/+16Not even with a reach-around promised....
- lovecss, on 02/13/2008, -0/+14Pick up that can, citizen.
- FeargusMcDuff, on 02/13/2008, -0/+14Don't ever say 'wank off' to anyone, ever.
- roodammy44, on 02/13/2008, -1/+14One of these cameras told me to drink responsibly when I walked past it!
It made me feel like drinking irresponsibly.
There's no point in barking orders at people if they have nothing to back it up, everyone just ignores it.
The ones in the city of london look mean, straight out of a dystopian movie.
Black cameras up black poles with black 1930s looking loudspeakers - lolinyerface, on 02/13/2008, -0/+13Happiness is mandatory, citizen.
- Cyberen, on 02/13/2008, -4/+17I sware to god, these people act like they know the story (1984) but they sure haven't learned a god damn thing from it. Guess I won't be working for Rareware, then.
- darthchaosrspw, on 02/13/2008, -9/+22Well, when I go to London, I'll be sure to walk up to one of the talking cameras and tell it "Wank off, you bloody wanker".
- zandernat, on 02/13/2008, -4/+16Where are the punk rockers to smash the crap to smitherenes? OY!
- lolinyerface, on 02/13/2008, -0/+12Don't drink the water....they put something in it....to make you forget.
- TheDiceMan, on 02/13/2008, -4/+15when 1984 is like 2008.
- yogurtslinger, on 02/13/2008, -1/+12Welcome to 1984. Not much longer before this is implemented in the US
- ukblacknight, on 02/13/2008, -3/+14***** labour communists!! Why are people so stupid in the UK to even vote for them? All they've done is remove our civil liberties, impose bureaucracy on everything, taken us to war when nobody wanted to, tax us for everything, everythings 'PC', screw up the NHS. If they actually put police on the streets and had laws that actually made people think twice about granny bashing, then maybe they wouldn't have to put zillions of cameras up. But no, the police need to fill out forms...
To UK Labour voters: when you vote for them, you're undoing everything our grandfathers died for in the 40's.
/rantover - DeFex, on 02/13/2008, -1/+11HEY YOU! behind the bike sheds! STAND STILL LADDIE!
- coldcarbon, on 02/13/2008, -2/+11how can you be so sure they will just stop at your house. What makes you so ***** sure they wont go into your personal life?
- stealthc, on 02/13/2008, -0/+9It's sad to see the country who stood so admirably against the Nazis devolving into a surveillance state. If WWII wasn't to beat down authoritarianism, what the hell was it for?
- okrbot, on 02/13/2008, -2/+11That old bag pissed me off. Respect is missing nowadays? how about you take responsibility for not having taught your children and grandchildren how to show respect. Personal Accountability is what is missing.
- ghm101, on 02/13/2008, -0/+8stop running your international spying, drug and prostitution ring from there.
- baramunchies, on 02/13/2008, -2/+10time for some serious action against this crap!
- Angostura, on 02/13/2008, -0/+7Not actually a copper, though.
- stealthc, on 02/13/2008, -1/+8London: home to the first domesticated humans. I bet one day you'll be able to walk right up and pet an Englishman.
- geekchic, on 02/13/2008, -1/+8My first thought on hearing about these would be that the Chavs would treat it as a "badge of honour" to be addressed by the cameras - not a deterent.
- jdepp, on 02/13/2008, -1/+8phase two is to deploy the "lasers"
- deathproof, on 02/13/2008, -2/+9I Love how Time makes it sound like its accepted and that we should accept it, people like the cameras. Put an innocent face on oppression with the school children's voice warning you of incarceration.
- coldcarbon, on 02/13/2008, -1/+8They want you to ignore them. Thats part of there plan. You ignore them so much they make more and more. Then one day when they bark orders and you don't do it. they will send police after you. Use biometrics to get your name and address and just e-mail you the ticket. all done by a computer software.
- dbz253, on 02/13/2008, -0/+7devices that can see and hear and give orders to everyone? that's at least a little like 1984
- LeeSoong, on 02/13/2008, -0/+7Every London citizen should start carrying bull-horns,
then shout random phrases at all government buildings:
'Wear Purple Socks !'
'Govern like you stole it!'
' Cheese is Lovely ! '
'Paul Lives!'
' Lord Xenu loves your mum! ' - StolenLamp, on 02/13/2008, -0/+7Everyone has something to hide.
- mbrindam, on 02/13/2008, -1/+7Think it's a coincidence that there are 84 cameras in the borough? I think not.
- geekchic, on 02/13/2008, -0/+6This is the Voice of the Mysterons!
- AeristheKitty, on 02/13/2008, -0/+6To make money for the Military-Industrial Complex, and to further advance the plots of the NWO "people".
http://www.threeworldwars.com/world-war-2/ww2.htm - jdepp, on 02/13/2008, -1/+7If you ever go to St. Pancras International in London out of rush-hour, I swear there are more CCTV cameras than passengers. I can stood and couned over thirty of them without moving. It's a pretty oppressive place to have to travel through, train-station and pan-opticon.

Hardware stores report a sudden rise in the sales of cans of Black Spray Paint.
More cans of black spray paint are on back order . . . - vap0r, on 02/13/2008, -2/+8I think that's where they're getting their ideas
- waydee, on 02/13/2008, -0/+6Wishful thinking, most people don't mind being watched as long as they hear about genuine criminals being caught out by the cameras. The concerned are in the severe minority.
- AreTooDeTo, on 02/13/2008, -2/+7holy *****. this world is going to hell and fast.
- Arkz, on 02/13/2008, -1/+6We need an English Dr Freeman to save us!
- waydee, on 02/13/2008, -0/+5Couldn't agree more, people talking about the tories as if they'd change one bit of this just makes me roll my eyes. Just because we have a Labour government doesn't mean that the other liars aren't involved in the cackhanded running of this country right now. They're as bad as each other and given the tories past record theres only worse to come.
Lib dem, the only worthwhile vote - at least they've got just enough support to make a small difference already. One can only hope this sort of thing will swing voters their way but I can't say I hold much hope. - vkorobkax, on 02/13/2008, -3/+8Yes, because all those CCTV cameras definitely help prevent bombings. Just like they helped prevent what happened on July 7th 2005. No doubt talking cameras are going to be even more effective.
Sarcasm - ukblacknight, on 02/13/2008, -0/+5You fail at British insults.
