http://www.flickr.com/photos/karltra/3205238751/si ... - smallvern, on 01/20/2009, -13/+123FTA: Appearing stern and at times angry, Mr Ban called the attacks on Gaza "outrageous" and demanded guarantees that it would never happen again.
"I have protested many times. I am today protesting again in the strongest terms. I have asked (for a) full investigation and (to) make those responsible people accountable," he said.
Good luck with that (I really mean it!) - GovernmentSp00k, on 01/20/2009, -13/+107So what's he going to do about it, nothing? Who in their right mind wouldn't be "appalled" by such gross human rights violations, lack of respect for life and violent destruction upon defenseless people- mostly children!
Israel has broken countless UN Resolutions in the past. To no reprimands or accountability. Their latest war crime effort is no different. With the "American" government infiltrated to the teeth with dual citizenship Israeli turncoats who have no loyalty to America or the American people, no loyalty to the United States Constitution and only seek to exploit American blood, money and military for Israels benefit and for PNAC, Israel can do whatever it pleases and continue to get away with it. While US taxpayers are forced against their collective will to pick up the tab and pay for it all. Quite a nifty SCAM wouldn't you say? - inactive, on 01/21/2009, -13/+99[x] shocked

- inactive, on 01/21/2009, -10/+63@Shabraniac - It is typical of all your posting to muddy the waters by legalistic arguments that in no way address the root of the matter in question.
Instead of addressing the fact that Israel has consistently encroached upon and stolen Palestinian land, you try to divert attention by insisting that the comment spoke of ethnic cleansing and the map is not a demographic chart, but rather a political map. So what? The Palestinians have lost 90% of their land.
On to the demographic question: the loss of land was accompanied by a corresponding loss of population, most of which was indeed "caused by emigration". There are two means of accomplishing ethnic cleansing -
1.- murdering people and 2.- forcing them off their land.
Israel has and does practice both methods. The devastation of Gaza is an example. Kill some and try to convince the rest to leave. Palestinians don't leave their homes because they expect a better life than they had before the Israelis arrived. They leave because they are left no other choice.
Saying that "the diminishing Palestinian population in Israel was caused by emigration" is exactly the same as saying that there was no ethnic cleansing in Rwanda, the diminishing population of Tutsis was created because they chose to emigrate to Congo.
The fact that Palestinian population is growing outside of their native land has nothing at all to do with ethnic cleansing.
You are a liar, the worst liar, because you try to use legalisms that confound and sound true in order to lie. - inactive, on 01/21/2009, -11/+62I am sure the UN were firing rockets into Israel and killing their children.
Imagine living in a concentration camp in your own land. That's what Palestine is. - Aliwalla, on 01/21/2009, -7/+55This situation will only change if America's stand on Israel changes.
- amy31415, on 01/21/2009, -10/+57If I were stealing from you and pushing you and all of "your kind" out by various measures such as:
1. Murder
2. Blockades/starvation
3. Bulldozing your home/business to make room for more of "my kind"
4. Making it impossible for you to travel freely
5. Making you get an Israeli permit to build on your own land, then not allowing you that permit when you apply for it.
6. Having roads on your land that "your kind" is not allowed to travel on or cross.
7. Sometimes not allowing food, water or medication to come through your borders
8. Fencing in one of your territories
From Wikipedia:
Ethnic cleansing is a euphemism referring to the persecution through imprisonment, expulsion, or killing of members of an ethnic minority by a majority to achieve ethnic homogeneity in majority-controlled territory.[1] It is sometimes used interchangeably with the more connotatively severe term genocide.
Imprisonment--check
Expulsion--check
Killing--check
Congrats! The triple crown of genocide! - inactive, on 01/20/2009, -17/+60Dude, your lies and justifications don't sell anymore. I would suggest that in the wake of the destruction of Gaza, that your lame explanations do more harm than good to the advancement of the Zionist cause.
In other words, it would be better to just shut up (if you are capable of that) - NeoBanned, on 01/21/2009, -9/+50"We'll make a pastrami sandwich of them, ... we'll insert a strip of Jewish settlements in between the Palestinians, and then another strip of Jewish settlements right across the West Bank, so that in 25 years' time, neither the United Nations nor the United States, nobody, will be able to tear it apart."
~ Ariel (Arik) Sharon, 1973
"Let us approach them [the Palestinian refugees in the occupied territories] and say that we have no solution, that you shall continue to live like dogs, and whoever wants to can leave -- and we will see where this process leads. In five years we may have 200,000 less people - and that is a matter of enormous importance."
~ Moshe Dayan, September 1967
"Let us not ignore the truth among ourselves .. politically we are the aggressors and they defend themselves... The country is theirs, because they inhabit it, whereas we want to come here and settle down, and in their view we want to take away from them their country. ... Behind the terrorism [by the Arabs] is a movement, which though primitive is not devoid of idealism and self sacrifice."
~ David Ben-Gurion, 1938
"Everybody has to move, run and grab as many hilltops as they can to enlarge the settlements because everything we take now will stay ours... Everything we don’t grab will go to them."

"We walked outside, Ben-Gurion accompanying us. Allon repeated his question, ‘What is to be done with the Palestinian population?’ Ben-Gurion waved his hand in a gesture which said ‘Drive them out!’"

"Jewish villages were built in the place of Arab villages. You do not even know the names of these Arab villages, and I do not blame you because geography books no longer exist. Not only do the books not exist, the Arab villages are not there either. Nahlal arose in the place of Mahlul; Kibbutz Gvat in the place of Jibta; Kibbutz Sarid in the place of Huneifis; and Kefar Yehushua in the place of Tal Al-Shuman. There is not a single place built in this country that did not have a former Arab population."
~ Moshe Dayan, 4 April 1969
"We must expropriate gently the private property on the state assigned to us. We shall try to spirit the penniless population across the border by procuring employment for it in the transit countries, while denying it employment in our country. The property owners will come over to our side. Both the process of expropriation and the removal of the poor must be carried out discretely and circumspectly. Let the owners of the immoveable property believe that they are cheating us, selling us things for more than they are worth. But we are not going to sell them anything back."
~ Binyamin Ze'ev (Theodore) Herzl, 12 June 1895
"I was recently at a conference with John Dugard, who is now the Special Rapporteur of the UN Commission on Human Rights for the Occupations Palestinian Territories, and is originally from South Africa. He was (jokingly) offended that apartheid was being maligned [by its comparison the Israeli occupation]. In South Africa you didn’t have apartheid on the roads, you didn’t have walls being constructed… "

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-245190845 ... - GovernmentSp00k, on 01/21/2009, -3/+32True...I guess even a brief mention of "Israel did something wrong!" is a revolution in politics these days..
Obama is *silent* on the Gaza matter right. Yet when 'Russia attacked Georgia' he was screaming his HEAD off!! condemning their actions, publically scolding Russia at every turn like the rest of 'em. He wasn't keeping 'quiet' about THAT. But now with Israels latest US taxpayer funded violent slaughter, over 1000 civilians killed, mostly children, Gaza in ruins & destroyed, he says "ONE PRESIDENT at a time." "no comment" SILENCE. What BS ! He is owned by the Israeli's. Israels bitch like the rest of the bought off mis-leaders and deception artists masquerading as "representatives of the American people!" What about the refugees that were terrorized out of their villages and houses? You call this "immigration" too? Immigrations is an action made by will, not being forced on the person...
Assuming that these were "forced immigrants", they and their offspring has the right to come back (after all, all the Jewish immigrants to Israel claim that they are the descendants of the people who lived there 2000 years ago) - emotecontrol, on 01/21/2009, -6/+26Well, they've rounded them up into small ghettos. Ceasing the occupation of Palestinian lands would be a mighty good start.
"Why don't you who incessantly condemn Israel for every action and inaction they take just come forward and admit that you just don't like Jews, and stop using the cause as a method of verbalizing your anti-semitism?"
The more this ridiculous argument is regurgitated, the less effective it becomes. It is offensive and just plain stupid. - mickstephenson, on 01/21/2009, -3/+15On the subject of tunnels take a look at this slideshow, how can people defend Israel when Gaza needs to use tunnels to survive? Why is Israel blocking such simple goods from entering Gaza to create the need for the tunnels, doesn't anyone find it sinister that Gazan's don't have access to cigarettes, food, fuel, fridges and clothes? Why would Israel want to deny them these things?
If you were denied of such things how would YOU react, would you feel the need to become militant? It's easy for you to sit behind your $1000+ computer with the only thing you're left wanting for is the newest iPhone, and whinging about how something came out in Japan first, so you'll have to wait for it or import it and then you'd have a problem with region codes blah ***** blah, but for them to get clothes they need to tunnel under a wall and smuggle it in, and you can sit there and judge them on their "rocket tunnels".
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_pictures/7815415.stm
And lets make one thing clear, I don't have anything against Israel's right to exist, Israelis are the dominant ethnicity in Israel now and that's that, All I am advocating is the right for everyone to be treat as a human being, if you can't see that dehumanisation of Palestinians, you are blind. Claiming that I am prejudice against Israel just isn't true, if you think it is ever right to barricade people up based on race or creed, no matter what certain members of the population are responsible for, there is soemthing seriously dangerous about you're beliefs - emotecontrol, on 01/21/2009, -5/+17So, you're saying that the Native Peoples of North America are justified in using lethal force to take back their traditional lands?
Also, don't you suppose that if you leave for 2000 years that whomever lives there over that time might actually have a more legitimate right to the land than you do when you come back? - jwolcott, on 01/21/2009, -7/+19So should the Native Americans get to reclaim the US, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and all of South-America?
- NinaOdell, on 01/21/2009, -5/+16"Just their land" - you said it, buddy.
- deema1, on 01/21/2009, -34/+44Seeing how the overwhelming majority of those on Digg condemns Israel for just about everything they do, and since everyone here is so very smart, I would be curious as to how you would suggest they respond. Should Israel just live with daily rocket shellings? Should they ask the UN for help? Should they beg for forgiveness from Hamas for being naughty Jews?
The Palestinian leaders and are the maturational equivalent of a kid smacking another unprovoked when nobody is looking, and then demanding a sympathetic response when they retaliate. I'm not Jewish, and I don't believe that they always make the right choices, but you have to be a nincompoop to believe that the Palestinian leaders are the victims they portray themselves to be. The majority of innocent deaths are a direct effect of the cowardly actions of these terrorist leaders. They're not dumb, why stand out in the open and fight a lopsided battle when they can hide amongst their people and play the victim card when the fallout takes place? The ends justify the means, and allows them to perpetuate this propaganda war.
Why don't you who incessantly condemn Israel for every action and inaction they take just come forward and admit that you just don't like Jews, and stop using the cause as a method of verbalizing your anti-semitism? - bjornski, on 01/21/2009, -0/+10Leave it?
We should be kicked out of it. - inactive, on 01/21/2009, -1/+11I'm confused why the U.S. was not held to the same standard when they invaded Iraq. It killed many more people, lasted a lot longer, and Iraq wasn't launching random missiles at the U.S so the U.S. had no real reason to go in.
- VeryBoredNow, on 01/21/2009, -16/+26They shouldn't treat them like animals.
Have a good day, sir. - beesaretasty, on 01/21/2009, -4/+14So are you implying that it is OK to force somebody out of their homeland, or are you saying that the Palestinians just didn't want to live there anymore?
Perhaps they "chose" to move out once their home was forcefully taken. Those who stayed were pushed into the ghettos. Those that are in the ghettos are cut off from food, oil, medical supplies. Some of those people have decided that resistance is the only option left. While you or I may question that, we are not living in their reality.
I sort of feel that if Russia decided that Wisconsin should now belong to the Roma, and then the Roma decided to expand their territory within the US because of conflicts they have with Canada, and now most of the US population was living in North Dakota or some other country while the Roman States of America occupied the rest of the area, and North Dakota was forced into poverty and the people were living in their own sewage forced to dig holes or blast walls to get to Canada simply to get food and medicine for their families, well, I think I may volunteer myself to join the resistance and would probably be willing to give my life for the slightest of chances that we could once again regain our home.
That was a monster run-on. - pintomp3, on 01/21/2009, -1/+10They already did that with Bill Moyers:
http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/blog/2009/01/exc ... - jmichaelx, on 01/21/2009, -3/+12emotecontrol - You are spot on. It is likely that over the next few years, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will only intensify, and not only in the occupied territories. As Palestinians make up an ever larger percentage of the Israeli population, the Israeli state is going to become ever more desperate to get rid of these people. Their desire is not so much to kill large numbers of Palestinians as much as it is to just make them leave, or shut them up in ghettos like Gaza and demand that they just suffer and shut-up. With even the sentiment of the average Israeli becoming ever more harsh and ruthless, there are a number on the Israeli left who are warning people that a 'final solution' may be on its way in the next decade. The world needs to wake up and put a stop to the jointly operated US-Israeli machine... There could be peace between "Israelis" and Palestinians right in that very land, but it would mean acknowledging equal rights for all. To Israel, talk of equal rights is anathema, and any talk of such things "undermines the Jewish state". The world needs a "Jewish state" as much as it needs a White Anglo-Saxon Protestant state. That is to a large degree what the US was at one time, and we should ask the native Americans how well that has worked out for them.
- inactive, on 01/21/2009, -4/+13"You do know that at camp David in 2000 the Israeli Prime Minister offered Palestine most of their land back and a chance to create their own autonomous state within 10 years starting with 100% of Gaza and 75% of the West Bank (which would be extended to 98% if things went well) but they were turned down?"
No, I don't know that, because neither of that is true. First of all 75% of the West Bank and 100% of Gaza is not 'most of their land back'. Israel was offered 51% of Palestine by the UN in 1947 (even though Jews were only 1/3 of the population) and grabbed another 25%, give or take a few, over the next months. They now have about 75, not including the WB and Gaza. 75% of 25% is very far from 'most of their land'. Second: the Israelis don't even count East Jerusalem in that equation, they consider that to be part of Israel, even though nobody else does, not even the US. Thirdly: the Palestinians did NOT turn the offer down (even though it sucked), but continued negotiations. The negotiations were broken off by Israel in the end. You may want to read up on the Camp David negotiations here: http://www.gush-shalom.org/archives/campdavid1.htm ... - monkeyrun, on 01/21/2009, -1/+10"humans deserve rights when they start acting like humans"

According to my definition of human, you just lost all your rights. - dvpower, on 01/21/2009, -7/+16@Shabrainiac. Reread your post.
"... map it self does not represent any of the Palestinian population, just their land"
So you accept that Israel have taken Palestinian land!
"...Palestinian population in Israel has declined, it it due to emigration "
This was forced emigration, to escape wars. Normally when someone emigrates, they don't lose their right to return or their land.
"... map ... shows the land the Palestinians have lost ...Israel largely due to wars provoked by other Arab countries."
You must accept that no matter how Israel came by the land, it wasn't theirs to take. They didn't take this land from the Arab countries that attacked. They took it from innocent Palestinians.
@Shabrainiac. You are just about the worst propagandist for the Israeli cause that I've ever come accross. - method7670, on 01/21/2009, -4/+13Hamas would declare victory over the sun setting if they wanted to.
