- AlwaysAwake, on 04/29/2008, -7/+56This is NOT uniquely European. Within the rotten human cultures and societies we have been passing on for millennia, is the embedded idea of Authority. The reality is, that this multi-generational cancer is world-wide ( The Zoe Tribe in Brazil being an exception ). Most people everywhere consider a birth certificate a property deed to their child, with the child becoming a source of gratification for the parents, instead of a trust to love and care for.. In this state of affairs, Control trumps Love every time, with lasting consequences for all. This guy just took it to the maximum benefit of that entitlement. There are others everywhere on the planet undiscovered. My own sister was just such a victim as a child, and that was in the USA.
- inactive, on 04/29/2008, -4/+50how is it that an 18 year old woman can disappear for 24 years and there is no investigation? ...a simple search of this monsters house would have saved this woman...
- merlinxlr, on 04/29/2008, -2/+42No matter how ***** up you think you are, just remember this guy.
- Treshnell, on 04/29/2008, -5/+43What I don't understand is, how, in 20 years, these people couldn't figure out a way to escape.
- fpaudon, on 04/29/2008, -1/+26I honestly can't think of a punishment severe enough for this guy
- Antarcticn, on 04/29/2008, -2/+26sick, Sick, SICK
- inactive, on 04/29/2008, -7/+30Ok, if this sick ***** is going to jail, then so should his ***** of a ***** wife. ***** she had no knowledge of what was going on.
- ConNERD, on 04/29/2008, -1/+22I read that he might only get 15 years in prison, which is an outrage. That's less time than it took to commit the crimes. I say let him rot in a jail cell.
- petebot, on 04/29/2008, -1/+20Dude, that is so unbelievably not cool.
- KargeOfTylenol, on 04/29/2008, -2/+20I hate you both. If you could even comprehend for one second how painful and horrible this girl's life has been for 24 years...
- bjstiktrix, on 04/29/2008, -8/+26KILL THE ***** WITH FIRE!
- FrederikNS, on 04/29/2008, -0/+17An article about this scandal I read mentioned that he had told the "prisoners" that the exit was booby trapped with explosives
- indescription, on 04/29/2008, -0/+1424 years? can you even fathom that? think about ALL you have done for the last 24 years! some of you are not even 24 years old yet.
- mythicflux, on 04/29/2008, -0/+14One of the news articles explained this. The father convinced the authorities that the daughter joined a cult and only returned 3 times to visit. All 3 times just happened to be when she "abandoned" the 3 children he raised a feet above his other 3 children he kept in the basement with his daughter.
- IheartZombies, on 04/29/2008, -7/+20With any luck, he gets raped to death in his 6x10 cell.
- laserblazer, on 04/29/2008, -0/+13Ritual abuse can turn a person into a slave.
- NeptuneZen, on 04/29/2008, -0/+13That damn building without a permit, gets you every time.
- laserblazer, on 04/29/2008, -1/+14Brain-washing and a society that would rather look the other way.
- artfiend77, on 04/29/2008, -1/+13You're a ***** *****. Plain and simple.
- Someguy101, on 02/19/2009, -0/+12What if he died while they were still locked down there?
- Starfoxy7, on 04/29/2008, -0/+12The thing I keep thinking about is the fact that this poor woman gave birth six times in a basement. No epidural. No doctors. No prenatal care. No help. No comfort. zilch.
- MScrip, on 04/29/2008, -1/+12Na, Digg is fine.
If I see a dupe I ignore it. You see a dupe, you log in and comment that it's a dupe. That's more annoying to me. - AsianChopsticks, on 04/29/2008, -0/+11Its the same person btw.
- Fawllen, on 04/29/2008, -0/+11Exactly what part 'is at least slightly funny'? Is it the part where she was held captive for most of her live? Or the part where she was repeatedly raped by her own father? No wait,I bet the funniest is the part where she was robbed of ... a life!I can't believe how anyone (sane!) can read anything related to this horrible story and actually see anything 'slightly funny' about it.
- Fawllen, on 04/29/2008, -1/+11Stupid bastard. If you've nothing to say, then why not just simply shut the hell up?
- FrederikNS, on 04/29/2008, -0/+10And also the door down to the basement where the "prisoners", was only a door 1 metre high or so, which was magnetically sealed, and hidden under a table filled with paint buckets and the like. Also the door looked just like a white piece of board from outside.
I wouldn't expect the police to have been thorough enough to have spotted that - Beveridge89, on 04/29/2008, -0/+10I think he acknowledged they were his daughters kids, and made her write letters saying she couldn't look after them and asking him to. But you're right, I can't believe she wouldn't suspect something was going on, even if nothing as horrifying as this.
- irvin666, on 04/29/2008, -0/+9Schwein.
- UberNick, on 04/29/2008, -0/+9brainwashing. look at the recent FLDS stories
- Gerz1219, on 04/29/2008, -3/+12Exactly what I was thinking. Apparently Fritzl brought three of the downstairs kids out of the dungeon and just adopted them. Adoption is the sort of thing which is difficult to do without the knowledge and consent of your spouse. One would think that his wife might ask a number of questions in the intervening DECADES, like "What do you think happened to our daughter?" and "Where are you finding all these kids that look exactly like you and/or our long lost daughter?"
- muzfuz, on 04/29/2008, -0/+9I think at this point it's too early to take a guess as to how heavy the sentence will be. Whoever came up with that 15 year figure pulled it out of their asses. The investigation is still on, but with all the charges against him (assault, multiple rape, abduction, child abuse, building without a permit) I doubt he faces ONLY 15 years. This guy is gone for life, I'm sure.
- inactive, on 04/29/2008, -1/+9hahaha go the ***** back to /b/.
- laserblazer, on 04/29/2008, -0/+8Make him a roadie for Courtney Love's Vanilla Ice tribute band.
- KingVegas702, on 04/29/2008, -0/+8Sorry but, Its just that nasty
- warringgael, on 04/29/2008, -0/+6Is that true for rape and sexual abuse also? Because I think thats what the article, and most of the comments, are pertaining to.
- kungfujedis, on 04/29/2008, -15/+20hasn't this story made the front page like 5 times already?
- V2012, on 04/30/2008, -0/+5With any luck, he'll be raped every day for the next 24 years.
- fpaudon, on 04/29/2008, -1/+6News reports shouldn't just be attention-grabbing events to get dugg. What's wrong with exposing more people to a pertinent piece of news?
- FrederikNS, on 04/29/2008, -0/+5He told her that the exit was booby trapped with explosives, so yes she was too scared to escape.
But I still wonder if I wouldn't just have killed myself if I were in her position. - mal1964, on 04/30/2008, -0/+5"There are others everywhere on the planet undiscovered"
Its scary just thinking about how big of a number it really is. - Beveridge89, on 04/29/2008, -0/+5I'm sure the guy will spend the rest of his life in jail. I don't know if it makes a difference though. His daughter life is ruined, and those children, well three have never seen daylight until now and I imagine will be hopelessly institutionlised for the rest of their life, and it can't be much better for the other three, especially if the media remain focused on them. Theres usually some comfort in knowing an evil person will get what they deserve; in this case things are just so horrifying that there is no possible way he could get what he deserves.
- Quaterni0n, on 04/29/2008, -0/+5You == Douchebag
- warringgael, on 04/29/2008, -2/+6Lets respond to violence with MORE violence!!! That will cure our culture's fixation on...violence?
- MessiR10, on 04/30/2008, -1/+5sick *****.
- hklrs, on 04/30/2008, -0/+4This is so ***** up it doesn't even matter where it happened.
- Rikkochet, on 04/29/2008, -0/+4I don't have to admit anything to a spoiled teenage white kid whose only exposure to hardships has been MTV.
- staffa, on 04/29/2008, -0/+4I don't think you really understand what it means to remove someone from the gene pool.
I think his children have suffered enough. - petebot, on 04/29/2008, -0/+3Inventive and ballsy...you're hired!
- waynetheman, on 04/30/2008, -1/+4Um... excuse me?
Even assuming 6000 such incidents this atrocious every year... out of 6 billion people on the planet (1 out of every 1 million), how in the world do you justify combing through the houses, personal effects and lives of everyone else?
As if the sickos wouldn't still find a way to hide this sort of thing. Grow up. Fascist regular house-to-house searches aren't the way to handle this. -
