- pigsbladder, on 01/29/2009, -0/+41damn... freezing rain and ice in the midwest, and record temperatures in oz... it's like they're on the other side of the world
- anexanhume, on 01/29/2009, -0/+31That'd make one heck of a storm man.

- hemck, on 01/29/2009, -1/+25Extreme weather conditions sucks......
- offrdbandit, on 01/29/2009, -1/+25I may be wrong, but doesn't the name "Saskatchewan" translate into "Don't Live Here" in English?
- JaycobC, on 01/29/2009, -1/+23Terribly sorry. We'll try to send New Zealand up to the States next time.
- BeesKnees21, on 01/29/2009, -0/+20Here where I live in Saskatchewan Canada a couple weeks ago it was -41C without windchill or -55C with windchill. (That's -41.8F and -67F respectively). We had a straight 25 days where the temperature (sans windchill) didn't climb above -25C (-13F)
- Spoonicus, on 01/29/2009, -0/+19Footpath!
- groo68, on 01/29/2009, -1/+18just mix the two together.
- TomT127, on 01/29/2009, -2/+18But it's a dry heat!
- iamghost, on 01/29/2009, -2/+18Australia shouldn't live so close to Hell.
- Spoonicus, on 01/29/2009, -1/+17You'd be what we call an ignorant *****
- zephyear, on 01/29/2009, -2/+18yeah, just breaking records in heat, just a little warm that's all

and what's with climate change deniers ***** obsession with al gore? is he just an easy target or something? - brettg102, on 01/29/2009, -1/+16You're using a laptop, while in a tub of water? Darwin Awards 2009 for you.
- andy9590, on 01/29/2009, -1/+16Same thing here in Delhi, India. 7 months of unbearable heat. I was breathing so much A/C air, I forgot what the real air was like.
- dawnraid101, on 01/29/2009, -2/+16Whoa across the tasman its only 28C, poor mozzies.
- mindsnare, on 01/29/2009, -1/+15To non Australian Savvy diggers. We normally get 1 or 2 40 degree days in the Summer, if we're lucky. Most times it hovers around 20-30. It's not the tropic part of Australia that most see on TV. I'm not saying it's cold or anything... rarely gets below 0 in Winter (cept for the Vic Alps), but these temps are pretty insane for this region.
FYI I'm typing this at 2:40am and it's 30°C, and I live on a Coastal town which is usually cooler. - TonyCubed, on 01/29/2009, -1/+15Celsius > Fahrenheit
- TITO2, on 01/29/2009, -5/+18dude its 46-50 C every day from may - august in the yucatan peninsula of mexico - not sure what the big deal is?
- LemonHerb, on 01/29/2009, -1/+14It's really bad in california too, it was like 40 degrees the other day and I had to put a jacket on for a while.
- MokeyAUS, on 01/29/2009, -0/+12That's the problem. This isn't the desert. Melbourne is one of the southern cities of the country, where it's often pretty damn cold in winter. (not snow/ice cold, but still cold). This is the area where we grow crops, flowers, have huge bushlands.
Melbourne is a coastal city, Phoenix is not. If you were to build a city inland, it would get much hotter than this. - scams, on 01/29/2009, -6/+18The big deal is Melbourne is Australia's second most populous city with a lot of people that aren't native to the Yucatan so it's a bit out of the ordinary for them.
- idontlikeyou2, on 01/29/2009, -2/+13A right wing moron is a right wing moron
- wkrausmann, on 01/29/2009, -0/+11So is an oven...
- voze, on 01/29/2009, -7/+17***** australia. ***** melbourne, its like living a ***** 1/4 mile from the sun. HATE. plus its too hot to sleep.
- haastyle, on 01/29/2009, -0/+10man it used to get to 120+ in Saudi, I once broke this windmill thermometer I got from Amsterdam, it went too far and cracked
- Kennui, on 01/29/2009, -1/+10No dont throw it, its already cooked.
- jp12380, on 01/29/2009, -0/+9You might get a very big very powerful tornado, probably a lot of them.
- inactive, on 01/29/2009, -1/+9It's not so bad. I have been playing games on the laptop and watching TV, while sitting in a bath full of cool water.
Just waiting for some idiot to set the Southern half of Australia on fire. Wouldn't be the first time. - JackondaRocks, on 01/29/2009, -0/+8I first heard about the extreme heat while watching the Australian Open this week... so many players forfeited matches because of it.
- jaythewise, on 01/29/2009, -1/+9They say prawn on the Barbie
- DirtyVicar, on 01/29/2009, -0/+8Actually the hottest night in Phoenix was 96, but that's still pretty bad.
http://www.public.asu.edu/~aunjs/ClimateofPhoenix/ ... - WasabiBomb, on 01/29/2009, -2/+9That's really funny. If someone posts a story on Digg about how cold it is, the AGW deniers post over and over about how that refutes global warming. But when someone posts a story about high temperatures, suddenly the high temperatures don't really mean anything. Which is it?
- inactive, on 01/29/2009, -1/+8And you can have sex without sliding off your GF..
- cfuse, on 01/29/2009, -0/+7More like: 46°C = Enough of this *****! I'm going to find somewhere the aircon is cranked up. Preferably somewhere they serve alcohol.

- StrangeFamous, on 01/29/2009, -2/+8Shut your dirty little mouth.
This has nothing to do with Al Gore. - xEn1gma, on 01/29/2009, -0/+6The *****?
- drunkmonkey01, on 01/29/2009, -1/+7better forfeit one match (which is nowhere near a player's "career") than literally die of heat exhaustion on the court. unfortunately some people dont realize that, and thats why theres always a few athletes (notably football players because of the pads/helmet) that die during summer practices.
- Kylde, on 01/29/2009, -1/+7bastages, I'm freezing :)
- Namakemono, on 01/29/2009, -1/+7Northern Central America? What, Belize? Guatemala?
