Art Project? ( 2 girls one cup gross? )
foxnews.com — A Yale student who claims she artificially inseminated herself 'as often as possible' and then took drugs to induce miscarriages for her senior art project says she will showcase the stomach-turning display next week.

- momofour, on 04/18/2008, -4/+5This is weird, disgusting, disturbing, nasty, wrong, messed up, sick, and about a million other awful things I don't have space to type. This girl can display something so patently _____ (fill in your choice description) but a teacher can't even have a Bible sitting on his desk?! What is WRONG with this country, this culture, this world?! I hope those in the area will boycott the department, the school, the administration, anyone who will listen and tell them how disgusting this is. I hope her mother's proud--she has put the 'artist' who displayed a statue of the Virgin Mary in a mason jar of urine to shame.
- blackolive, on 04/18/2008, -3/+4"but a teacher can't even have a Bible sitting on his desk?!"
Maybe because the bible is even worse?
"if evidences of virginity are not found for the young woman, then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones..." (Deuteronomy 22:20,21)- momofour, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2The point I make is that the Bible is a book. This girl didn't write a book about this supposed experience. She constructed a grose display of it, including human blood and fabricated stories and images. How very sad I am for you, that you feel the need to misquote, mislead and distort something to further your own agenda.
My point is simply that a teacher is not allowed to have a favored book on his desk because it is a Holy Bible but this girl can put her own despicable ideas on visual display for the sake of "art". And now the world has been widened to include the 'whole world' not the small 'world' of Yale University students because of the publicity she sought and received from her deception.
For the general public's information--your scripture reference, lifted out of context is not relvant to the discussion at all. Deut 22 is a written law account, starting with laws on morality for Israel in verse 13. It discusses the consequences of fornication, adultery, misrepresenting oneself as a virgin, and rape. Stoning was the sentence and this chapter lines out the circumstances under which that penalty was to be meted out--for both women AND men. The laws were strict and swift in that culture, as in many cultures today. Thankfully, it is no longer the punishment today in our culture. However, it isn't relevant to Christians today because we do not live under the Law but under the new covenant made available by Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross, death, burial and resurrection. You don't have to believe any of this, and I am in no way attempting to convince you to my point of view. As for myself, I do believe. Much of history is graphic and horrible. Have you been to Darfur? How about China? There is much evil in this world. That law, while vicious and inconceivable to us, was used to instruct people how TO live moreso than how NOT to live.
You will not be successful in having a meaningful dialogue with anyone, on this or any topic unless you are fair in the use of your 'examples'...

- momofour, on 04/18/2008, -8/+6I have to add that the Supreme Court should be addressing this. It is prime evidence that Roe v Wade MUST be overturned. If a new law needs to be written providing for medically necessary terminations, then so be it. Using abortion as a means of birth-control instead of using SELF-control to abstain from casual sexual encounters should be abolished. Our culture is going down the toilet-pardon the analogy. Further, the recreational creation and destruction of human life is abhorrant!!!
- skidme, on 04/18/2008, -2/+3I am most definitely pro-choice, but I do agree that using abortion as a method of birth-control is a sign of the mental instability of this society. However, I do believe that this was not th e main motivator for her actions, as she artificially inseminated herself. There was no sexual intercourse involved.
- animalwheeler, on 04/18/2008, -4/+6A Baby is still dead, no matter if sex was involved. She stated she was pregnant, and then deliberately caused a miscarriage (re:aborted), so she, in a premeditated fashion, murdered a developing human.
Whether she actually had sex is a moot point. - deadmann, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2Indeed, here we have 'therapeutic abortions' which is fine in its intent but is abused to classify anything as therapeutic, including 'not being ready' to have a baby.

- Germbat, on 04/18/2008, -0/+0I totally agree that people should really only consider an abortion due to medical reasons (i.e. a risk to the mother or baby) or rape. I don't feel that abortions should happen because you didn't plan to get pregnant (come on, you had sex, how did you think babies happen?) or can't deal with the responsibilities involved with raising a child. There are many couples out there who can't have a child on their own, and will pay all the expensives for somone who is carrying the child they wish to adopt.
However, this is the United States, and I can have my opinion, but I can't tell a woman what she can or can't do with her body.

- narcofiche, on 04/18/2008, -3/+8I'm pro abortion but this is just retarded. Clearly there are better ways to get a decent discussion going. "The right to choose" means that if it happens, you have the right to keep it or abort it. But purposely killing a fetus is still killing it. If anything, I think this actually SUPPORTS pro-lifers' arguments. Good thing they withheld her age, she sounds like she's a bitter 13 year old girl.
- animalwheeler, on 04/18/2008, -3/+6Abortion is "purposely killing a fetus". So there is no difference b/w what she did "for art"; and what hundreds of PP docs do every day, in clinics.
I cannot see how you can say that abortion is ok (you state being pro-abortion), and then admit that this persons "purposeful killing" is wrong; and then think that is any different the someone walking into a Dr's office, and purposefully wanting an abortion. It is the same thing: purposeful, premeditated killing of a baby.- narcofiche, on 04/18/2008, -1/+4I think there is a difference because she is purposely getting herself pregnant for the sole purpose of killing it. When people have unprotected sex, they don't think 'oh man, i'm totally going to get this chick pregnant so we can kill the fetus!'
I don't LOVE abortion, in fact, if presented with the choice I'd probably keep the baby. My point is, it's not up to me to decide for somebody else.- animalwheeler, on 04/18/2008, -1/+4A baby was still the result whether insemination was intentional or not. There is NO DIFFERENCE, because of how the baby came about; it is still a baby.
And killing it is wrong, because in both cases, the mother (I use that term loosely for the gal in the article) makes a CONSCIENCE effort to terminate a life. They know something grows inside of them, and they make the choice to end that babies life.- narcofiche, on 04/18/2008, -2/+1My intention wasn't to spend my lunch break trying to change your opinions on abortion. You have your opinions, I have mine - and a person who has had an abortion (or plans to) has theirs. God bless America!
- Ajajadude, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2Too bad it's fake and you all are wasting your breath.
- shanson13, on 04/18/2008, -1/+2you said "You have your opinions, I have mine - and a person who has had an abortion (or plans to) has theirs. God bless America! " If you really believe in God...the God of the Bible, then you would believe that human life is precious and created by God...so how you can say "I'm pro-abortion (murdering innocent human babies) and in the next sentence say "God bless America" is beyone me...very sad
- narcofiche, on 04/18/2008, -1/+1A) Joke. B) I can believe in a God and not religion. C) ya.

- skidme, on 04/18/2008, -2/+3To anyone here who has the urge to say that you could have helped her with the insemination, I want you to go hump yourself.
- deadmann, on 04/18/2008, -1/+2If there was a picture with this article, really no-one would.
- lopezdash, on 04/18/2008, -2/+3sounds like her parents got their monies worth..
- glock22ownr, on 04/18/2008, -2/+5What a sick mentally disturbed bitch!? Don't get me wrong I support the right to choose but this is just ***** up... I really hope she gets some horrible ***** form of cancer from all those "herbal remedies" and dies in a pool of her own ***** blood.
- skidme, on 04/18/2008, -1/+3She could have died in a pool of her blood during the abortions. That's one of the things she just doesn't understand.
- animalwheeler, on 04/18/2008, -0/+4fta: "Shvarts wouldn't say how many times she was artificially inseminated and actually got pregnant for the project — ... The existence and number of pregnancies Shvarts may have had weren't independently confirmed. "
I would like to know how many times she did this, so we know how many counts of Premeditated Murder to levy against her.
But unfortunately since the pregnancies aren't verifiable, nothing will prolly happen. - TiJean, on 04/18/2008, -1/+4There's not enough space to adequately write the level of disgust and outrage at this. This isn't, and shouldn't be, a pro-choice/pro-life discussion as this woman clearly takes it to a whole other level. What sickens me the most is that there are many MANY wonderful, deserving women who cannot conceive that would literally give their lives for a child and this person is making a mockery of pregnancy and procreation.
- gaylordfokker, on 04/18/2008, -2/+2Smells like a hoax to me. I suspect she's a pro-lifer, trying to stir up some outrage to get some laws passed or something.
Even if she really did this, inconsistency does not seem to be a primary concern for some of the hardcore pro-life crowd ...you know, the ones who think it's a good idea to bomb abortion clinics and kill innocent bystanders in the name of "protecting innocent life".- momofour, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1There's not a pro-lifer anywhere who would do such a thing. You are correct in that it was a hoax. But the girl was definitely not a "pro-lifer".
I also want to disavow ANYONE who would bomb a clinic or murder a PP doc. (even though the doc is not an 'innocent' person-he is innocent in the eyes of the law). That judgement will be between him and God. Not for man to decide or mete out.
- momofour, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1There's not a pro-lifer anywhere who would do such a thing. You are correct in that it was a hoax. But the girl was definitely not a "pro-lifer".
- blinker265, on 04/18/2008, -2/+6she is a ***** psycho feminist, and this is coming from a woman. its people like her that make woman look bad.
- ProudPagan, on 04/18/2008, -4/+2Pro choice for me but this is beyond disgusting and makes a mockery of every woman who has ever suffered a miscarriage or been forced to decide to keep a pregnancy or terminate it.
As for blinker265's comment, sounds like you are one of the psycho men's rights freaks and have no business saying a word about the feminists because you all act far worse then any feminist could ever dream of acting. Leave the feminism out of this as this disgusting "art" has NOTHING to do with feminism. You just felt like getting a dig in.- blinker265, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1did you actually READ my comment? im a girl... hence "and this is coming from a woman"... so why dont you learn to read before attacking me.
- haunj, on 04/18/2008, -2/+4The only way this can't disgust you is if you believe the lie that the baby is just a part of her body and she can do what she wants to with it. Here are some facts to consider. 1. The baby/fetus has it's own unique DNA, human DNA 2. It has a blood supply that is separate from it's mother, sometime with a totally different blood type. 3. If it were not for very strong hormones that suppress the mothers immune response, her body would attack and destroy the baby. Conclusion = baby/fetus is NOT HER BODY. It is a separate entity of its own. If this article is true, the woman is a seral killer.
- m1cobra, on 04/18/2008, -7/+3Her absurd answer as to why she did it, was to open a discussion on art and the human body. Typical liberal, anything goes as long as it gives you a feel good.
Another looney, she can't do honest art, as usual they think they have to shock people morals and ethics.
Well it doesn't work that way. I turn them off, they are not worth my time or energy. As for my children, I expain in PLAIN ENGLISH.
THESE PEOPLE ARE MENTALLY DEFICIENT, DON'T FEEL SORRY FORTHEM, ITS THEIR CHOICE THEY GET THE ATTENTION FROM PEOPLE READY TO JOIN THEIR DEFIENCY, BECAUSE THEIR LIFE IS WANTING.
DON'T SHOW COMPASSION , COMPASION BREEDS STUPIDITY, ENOUGH OF THAT IS RAMPANT ON A DAILY BASIS.
AND IF THE LOONNEYS WOULD NOT REJOICE IN THE DEATH AND PERVERSION OF WHAT SHE DID, IN TAKING SO MANY LIVES SHE NEVER WOULD OF DONE IT.
SHE HAS NOT MADE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE, SHE HAS INSULTED EVERY WOMAN AND CHILD ON EARTH AND THOSE IN HEAVEN. SHE IS A SELF MADE KILLER.- shanson13, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2Hmmm...why not show compassion? Compassion breeds stupidity? This is what you teach your children? Oh my...You believe in God and Heaven, yet not God's Word I see :( This act was atrocious and sinful and awful and its murder...but that woman is still one of God's children whom He loves and wishes for her to seek Him.
- m1cobra, on 04/18/2008, -1/+1 When you condone this selected behavior you are condoning their stupidity. Then you have the liberals who gush over this form of selected perversion. Compassion also is a form of forgiveness, you are forgiving them for being stupid, hence compassion does breed stupidity.
And I know God had compassion. But do you really think that since he sacrificed his own son to save us from annihilation. That he would have compassion to a murderer and one who did it for the thrill of being important to others. and did it again and again.
I guess we should of shown more compassion to Hitler, Marx, Stalin, Mussolini, . And maybe they would of eliminated 100 million instead of 6 or 20 million. The Socialist Idealog is to have every feel good, cavort with every evil entity, to defend each and every evil entity, and still hold yourself above the masses. This is what they are being indoctrinated into , and we are paying big bucks in taxes and hardships on parents fort heir children to be stupid.
This is what she supopsedly has done, to create a discussion and to condone all of her actions as being normal, with no repercussion.
- m1cobra, on 04/18/2008, -1/+1 When you condone this selected behavior you are condoning their stupidity. Then you have the liberals who gush over this form of selected perversion. And I know God had compassion. But do you really think that since he sacrificed his own son to save us from annihilation. That he would have compassion to a murderer and one who did it for the thrill of being important to others. and did it again and again."
1. I'm not forgiving anyone for being stupid...being stupid isn't a sin or infraction that needs forgiveness.
2. You said compassion does breed stupidity...I disagree completely, compassion doesn't breed anything, it is a characteristic of who God is, a compassionate and loving God.
3. You say God HAD compassion...do you really think its all used up?
4. You ask, would he have compassion to a murderer? Of course He would, and He does...the ONLY unforgiveable sin is blasphemy against the Spirit. In fact in Romans we see that WHILE we were still ENEMIES of God, He showed His love for us by sacrificing His one and only Son.
I'm not condoning what she did...I'm saying its terrible and awful and sinful and all of the above...but God has unlimited COMPASSION and love for all of us sinners. If you read your Bible you will find many instances of murderers, adulterers, prostitutes, cheats, liars etc etc that have been forgiven by God. That's the point of Jesus dying on the cross for us...HE paid the price in full for all sins of the past, present and future...if we will turn to Him and repent. So I think its a terrible tragedy that you would teach your children to NOT be compassionate. We are told to pray that NONE would be lost.
God bless

- momofour, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1Did you flunk biology or just not make it into 7th grade to take it at all? That's the most ridiculous thing. Your sperm doesn't have separate DNA, isn't a viable living human being...just like a menstrual cycle, containing an egg. You goober.
- Darrelc, on 04/18/2008, -1/+3Why stop at conception? Don't ever have a wank, you'll be killing six million babies!.
- shanson13, on 04/18/2008, -0/+1If it's true...this shows such a degredation of moral values that it is shocking, but not unbelievable. Over 1,000,000 babies are LEGALLY murdered every year in this country...where is the huge outcry against that? The pro-abortion posts are a joke, if you are pro-abortion (pro-choice, pro-murder...whatever you want to call it) then what is the difference between these murders and one done by a doctor with a vacuum and forceps? Give me a break...MURDER IS MURDER .

New Haven, Conn. — April 17, 2008
Ms. Shvarts is engaged in performance art. Her art project includes visual representations, a press release and other narrative materials. She stated to three senior Yale University officials today, including two deans, that she did not impregnate herself and that she did not induce any miscarriages. The entire project is an art piece, a creative fiction designed to draw attention to the ambiguity surrounding form and function of a woman’s body.
She is an artist and has the right to express herself through performance art.
Had these acts been real, they would have violated basic ethical standards and raised serious mental and physical health concerns. - EwMo, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2This "announcement," as well as the declaration that it's a hoax, have already FP'd
