- AriaStar, on 11/02/2007, -7/+496No, the parents are to blame. The parents are buying this stuff or giving the money to their daughters to buy it. The one time I bought something too grown-up without my parents present, they took me back to the mall and returned it. Paris and Britney can advocate for complete nudity in young girls if they want, and it won't make a difference if the parents do this thing called "parenting"
When I was at the mall last week, the first time in about four years (I usually do my shopping online), I was shocked to see some stores with dummies in the window displaying children's clothing more revealing than what I wear clubbing, and when I go clubbing, I've been called "scandalous," so you can imagine the skimpiness.
If PARENTS disallow their children from buying/wearing these things, then there'd be no demand and instead a return to kids dressing like...kids. - vroom101, on 11/02/2007, -1/+266From the article: "When I am talking to my daughter, she'll sit there and say, 'You don't know fashion' and how can I compete with that?" the dad asked.
HELLO DAD!!! What type of response is "how can I compete with that"?!?! - lordtyros, on 11/02/2007, -3/+213The correct response is SMACK
- EvanVolm, on 11/05/2007, -1/+171I always found it annoying in high school when all the chicks wore slutty clothes, and then complained "It's cold in here!" to the teachers. I know high schoolers aren't "young girls", but it's relevant.

- AriaStar, on 10/30/2007, -3/+149Remember the Stupid, Spoiled Whore episode of SP? Mr. Slave had it right saying that it's the parents' responsibility to teach their kids not to look up to people like that. And a step further - from not allowing their girls to even own clothing like that.
- vault, on 11/05/2007, -2/+137FTA: "The parents said department stores need to tone it down in the children's section and lay off companies like "Pimpfants" that sell "baby beaters" and "junior pimp squad" t-shirts."
There's a brand called 'Pimpfants' lol? I visited their site... this shirt is everything that's wrong with America: http://www.pimpfants.com/Details.asp?ProdID=135&ca ...
I can just picture a teenage mother buying that for her illegitimate kid. - Bukowsky, on 11/02/2007, -23/+148one more thing we can blame on those skanks Paris Hilton & Britney Spears!
- nonymous666, on 10/30/2007, -0/+119And "Bratz". Anybody that buys that stuff for their little girls should have their kids taken away.
- loveddevol, on 11/05/2007, -10/+123figures there's no pics.
- Camphlobactor, on 11/05/2007, -0/+98Don't you know? Girls are always cold regardless of how many layers of clothing they wear.
- ChaosProfessor, on 11/05/2007, -5/+100have a seat over there
- addingyears, on 10/30/2007, -0/+90 ... and now we're learning parenting skills from Mr. Slave.
- giveer, on 11/06/2007, -4/+91I refer to them as "Prosti-tots."
That's all. - AriaStar, on 11/02/2007, -4/+84In my day, fashion didn't matter to my parents, I either covered up or I was grounded. Actually, I would have been grounded for back-talking like that. Parent first, friend second.
- AriaStar, on 10/30/2007, -6/+80This isn't an issue about anatomy, but about sexualizing children. I agree people need to not be uptight about the body, but as it stands, certain clothing items are designed specifically to be revealing in a sexual way. Definitely not okay.
- JFetch, on 11/06/2007, -3/+71You realize the article is about 6-10 year olds right?
- unkle, on 10/30/2007, -1/+68i concur that parents are to blame, but at the same time we have corporations who spend millions heck probably billions on market research. our kids i think are bombarded in a way that wasnt even imagined 20 years ago. so its much tougher for todays parents who have to work longer hours to buy their kids all this *****.
but i have to agree with my aunt (whos a clinical psychologist), kids act according to their parents behavior and not what they say. - NSMike, on 10/30/2007, -1/+67If ever there was a line that was indicative of new parents pretty much being idiots, it was this one:
"When I am talking to my daughter, she'll sit there and say, 'You don't know fashion' and how can I compete with that?" the dad asked."
How can I compete with that?
I'll tell you how.
"I don't care if I don't know fashion. You're my daughter, I'm paying for it, and I'm not buying you that. You can't wear it."
And grow a pair and stick to it. And make sure your wife/her mother agrees. She's only a kid. The world will not end if you don't appease her every desire. Maybe she won't like you for it now, but that's tough. You're the parent. Not their friend. Set boundaries, be consistent, and discipline. Don't give me that "How can I compete" *****. - EmperorAwesome, on 10/31/2007, -4/+67I'm actually at the point where there's no greater turn-off than skanky dressing. It's far more rare, and therefore exotically attractive, when a girl dresses conservatively, cause I know she's got something ticking in her head.
- noahhoward, on 10/30/2007, -0/+62Putting bike shorts that say sexy across the ass on an 8 year old is not being sensitive about anatomy.
- succubuskiller, on 10/30/2007, -2/+61Parents please refer to the following article for guidance on raising your childern.

***** Fashion. Anyone who treats style as a commodity should be shot in the face. - DigitalN, on 11/05/2007, -3/+54I said to myself "I bet that's a link to a Chris Hansen picture," and sure enough...
- inactive, on 10/30/2007, -22/+68Yeah.
When I think of how to properly raise my daughter I look to Puerto Rico for examples. For variety, there's a couple of trailer parks within comfortable driving distance as well. If I raise her right she'll be pregnant and bringing in the welfare checks and WIC before she's 13! I can quit my job as a Walmart greeter and start living the good life.
That WIC milk is gooood in my coffee too. Do you have a daughter too Napoleone? - lawngnomes4pres, on 11/02/2007, -11/+5718 legal

HIGH FIVE - addingyears, on 10/30/2007, -9/+53The U.S. is so embarrassingly immature about human anatomy. I used to live in the jungles of Africa, where as a matter of comfort and culture, females of all ages wore a stack of 90 metal rings around their necks, 16" plates in their lips, flea-infested grass skirts, and nothing to cover their foot long sagging breasts, and, yet, society there isn't coming apart.
- inactive, on 11/05/2007, -3/+47I'm Chris Hanson go ahead and take a seat...
- Napoleone, on 11/02/2007, -45/+89The U.S. is so embarrassingly immature about human anatomy. I used to live in Puerto Rico, where as a matter of comfort and culture, females of all ages wear tiny skirts, short short shorts, and ultra tight-fitting lycra pants, and, yet, society there isn't coming apart.
FTA: "Rivenbark ...stresses moderation, especially when it comes to "bling," and suggests bribing with bright colors... She suggested asking kids, "Is this out of the question, or is there some way to split to difference with this? I know it seems this is a little challenging, but you could wear a little cover-up a little shawl?"
American society needs to decide whether it's going to baby its children until they're out of college, as it does now, or if it's going to assume children are capable of responsibility, as the language above suggests.
Either way, parents need to realize they have the ultimate say in most everything involving their children, and they shouldn't equate respect with a lack of adult guidance. - sfpfc, on 10/30/2007, -0/+42Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset (South Park)
Paris Hilton: Anyway, I'm pleased to be here in Gouth Dark to announce the opening of my brand new store, a store where girls can buy everything they need to be just like me! (store is unveiled) Stupid Spoiled Whore - aburd, on 10/30/2007, -3/+40These kids today! Not like in our day! In our day, all girls were saints and the boys were happy to wait until marriage for sexy!
- abdeviation, on 11/06/2007, -1/+37those bratz dolls. why do parents buy those things for their children?? they're called BRATZ for god's sake. we have no future
- spencerkam, on 10/30/2007, -3/+38BEWARE!
15 will get you 20. - Ajajadude, on 10/30/2007, -1/+35Being a parent is hard, we know that. But, that's not an excuse. There really is no good excuse for not raising your kids right. If you can't handle it, you should never have had a kid in the first place.
There are plenty, and I do mean plenty, of parents out there who condone the slutty attire their daughters wear. - MagicCake, on 11/05/2007, -1/+35My favorite is when they wear pants/shorts with writing on the back and then they say, predictably, "don't look at my ass". Then don't put a ***** word on it, bitch.
- Velirno, on 10/30/2007, -1/+35I can agree with that for sure. My 8-year old niece idolizes me and seems to listen to me a little more than her parents. Seeing as how Halloween is coming up she was talking to me about what she'll dress up as, which was a toss-up between a princess or a Bratz...brat. I explained to her why Bratz might be a bad idea and lo and behold, she's dressing up as a princess for Halloween. It is the parents' responsibility to keep check on how kids dress, but some of these toys that are marketed towards them aren't helping the situation at all.
- rarson, on 10/31/2007, -0/+34Great, let's drive them away. Are you geeks really that uncomfortable around girls? Jesus christ...
- felman87, on 11/05/2007, -0/+33"Yeah, I'll bet"

- SquigglyP, on 10/30/2007, -0/+25Yes, if the only thing keeping a parent from saying "no" is the fear of the child having a little fit in the store or something... then that person just isn't cut out to be a parent. Kids don't know what's good for them, it's the parent's job to lay down the law based on their supposed wisdom gained through growing up themselves. Unfortunately there are so many people out there becoming parents far too young, and many of the new parents are just flat out stupid, ignorant people. People like that have no business being parents.
- Jibberwalk, on 11/05/2007, -1/+26Because even though I may get older... they always stay the same age.
- AriaStar, on 10/30/2007, -3/+27Next time I go out and start dancing on a pole, I'll get pics. No, I'm not a stripper, but I'm also not prude in my adult years. :)
