http://www.thepoliticalcesspool.org/jamesedwards/2 ...
He was just a nutjob loner whose religion isn’t pertinent.
It’s a shame his name wasn’t Smith.
Muslim shooter? What Muslim shooter?
Who cares what his religion is?
He was an overworked Army doctor upset about the lack of health care resources in the military. - midnitefox, on 11/08/2009, -12/+60I don't hate Muslims because of the act of one man. I'm not ignorant.
- inactive, on 11/07/2009, -32/+80fta: "This is one of those moments where we have to sit and pray that most Americans will come out stronger, more united, and more tolerant," said Ayloush [director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations]
A Muslim commits an unspeakable act, and CAIR's director is praying that it causes non-Muslims to become more tolerant? That seems backward to me. Imagine the outrage if a Christian had killed 13 Muslims and the director of a national Christian organization prayed the murders would be a teachable moment that would cause non-Christians to become more tolerant of Christianity. - mnocket, on 11/07/2009, -17/+62If only there were more outrage expressed by the Muslim community over Islamic terrorism, I would be more accepting of the "this is not representative of Islam" argument.
- friday1970, on 11/08/2009, -11/+49I'm finding it amazing that you're being dugg down for stating the facts of what happened. There are a lot of deniers here tonight. But, this was pure jihad, committed by an American on American soil against are troops. If you tell yourself any different, you're denying yourself the truth.
- inactive, on 11/07/2009, -12/+38McVeigh's Christianity was incidental to his act. His target was the federal government, not non-Christians. McVeigh also didn't yell, "God is great!" when he carried out his bombing.
- nostradumass, on 11/08/2009, -12/+371) So Yahweh sent a pestilence on Israel; and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men. (1 Chronicles 21:9-14 )
2) So the LORD our God handed King Og and all his people over to us, and we killed them all. We conquered all sixty of his towns, the entire Argob region in his kingdom of Bashan. These were all fortified cities with high walls and barred gates. We also took many unwalled villages at the same time. We completely destroyed the kingdom of Bashan, just as we had destroyed King Sihon of Heshbon. We destroyed all the people in every town we conquered – men, women, and children alike. But we kept all the livestock for ourselves and took plunder from all the towns." (Deuteronomy 3:1-7 )
3)The LORD then gave these further instructions to Moses: 'Tell the people of Israel to keep my Sabbath day, for the Sabbath is a sign of the covenant between me and you forever. It helps you to remember that I am the LORD, who makes you holy. Yes, keep the Sabbath day, for it is holy. Anyone who desecrates it must die; anyone who works on that day will be cut off from the community. Work six days only, but the seventh day must be a day of total rest. I repeat: Because the LORD considers it a holy day, anyone who works on the Sabbath must be put to death.' (Exodus 31:12-15 )
4) Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel. (Deuteronomy 17:12 )
5)Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death. (Exodus 21:15 )
6) All who curse their father or mother must be put to death. They are guilty of a capital offense. (Leviticus 20:9 )
7)If a man commits adultery with another man's wife, both the man and the woman must be put to death. (Leviticus 20:10 )

Have we learned nothing from our past mistakes? - btschul, on 11/08/2009, -16/+36"Allahu Akbar!"
-Nidal Malik Hasan, just before murdering 12 innocent people and wounding approx. 30 more. - norman619, on 11/08/2009, -8/+27You need to stop blaming the religion and start blaming the people. In the end HE chose to do this. No one pushed him. He made a choice.
- attackfrog, on 11/08/2009, -1/+17I dugg this for the irony of Hassan having an "Allah is love" sticker on his car.
- SamurAchzar, on 11/08/2009, -0/+14I think he stated his point very clearly. I'll recap:
a. this was pure jihad
b. committed by an American
c. on American soil
d. against are troops.
Draw your own conclusions. - hawkspur, on 11/08/2009, -7/+21That's a myth.
- slyzxx, on 11/08/2009, -4/+17There`s only like 1.5 and 1.8 billion Muslim`s in the world how can you be ignorant towards that many people ?
- lemur, on 11/08/2009, -10/+23I think we should blame it on the fact that he was a psychologist. It's really obvious that psychology is dangerous and teaches people to go out and kill non-psychologists. Don't you find it suspicious that the people he shot were only non-psychologists? WE MUST DEFEND AMERICA FROM THIS PSYCHOLOGICAL THREAT
- sanman, on 11/08/2009, -4/+17*****, his community doesn't self-criticize enough, and this is why rabid haters are able to flourish in such surroundings
they get solace and reinforcement of hateful beliefs from one another, instead of critical objective reasoning
The fact is that all religions are not equal in their tolerance. As an atheist and a rationalist, I'll say that there was no magical tooth-fairy-for-religions flitting around the world to ensure that all religions were formed and molded identically to each other with respect to tolerance of others. That's ridiculous - it's like saying that there was a magical toe fairy, to make sure that everybody's toes looked identical.
There is no magical force that exists to make all religions identical, whether in regard to tolerance, or in regard to modernity. Sorry, but some are laggers, and that's due to their own history. - sanman, on 11/08/2009, -1/+13As a Muslim who feels he has been taught to be respectful of other religions, what does Islamic tolerance have to say on the conditions of many non-Muslim minorities living in Muslim-majority countries? What does Islamic tolerance have to say of Kashmiri Hindus, who are a peaceful community ethnically cleansed from a land they have always lived in by Muslim militant groups? What does Islamic tolerance have to say about Buddhists being attacked in Southern Thailand? What Islamic tolerance have to say about non-Muslims ethnic groups in Malaysia being second-class citizens with inferior rights?
I never hear about this from anybody in the Muslim community.
Tolerance doesn't come from mere PR declarations, which are mere sales pitches for one's own community. Tolerance is something that has to go deeper than that, and it has to touch the politics of that community - because credibility doesn't come from mere marketing. - Atario, on 11/08/2009, -3/+15What do you want him to say? "I hope this makes people hate us more"?
- jaytek13, on 11/08/2009, -1/+12Details like he was serving our Military for 8 years before this happened? That he was for all intents perceived as a good person?
Are you suggesting that this guy spent his whole life on US soil, serving the US military, just to plot to kill 13 people?
No, it wasn't due to his religion. Clearly something snapped in this person. The reasons for murder are often complex, and you trying to simplify this case by saying it was specifically due to his religion/ethnicity is just a display of your own prejudices.
Same goes for seemingly all the other commentators here. - kalvinb, on 11/08/2009, -11/+22The really pathetic thing was the family of this whack-job trying to paint his as the victim claiming he was picked on for his religion. He did what his religion told him to do.
- superkendall, on 11/08/2009, -5/+16This is such *****. People are easily able to distinguish between extremists and normal people peacefully practicing a religion.
If anyone should be afraid, what about military people with leaders who can't smoke out a guy openly doing everything but writing out a huge banner saying "I'm going to kill you all" operating for years as an officer?
Muslims have nothing to worry about. The PC ***** continuing means the rest of us do. - kalvinb, on 11/08/2009, -3/+14http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1823145900
Khadeeja Nuur is the individual who started this.
"Together we pray for the recovery of Dr. Nidal Malik Hasan, MD. May Allah see fit to return this loyal son of Islam back to perfect health. Sallalahu Alayhi Wa Sallam."
Apparently murdering a dozen people makes you loyal to Islam. She lives in D.C. and could probably use a federal investigation for supporting a terrorist and his actions. Although there are Muslims who care about the victims, it's people like this who reinforce negative stereotypes of Islam and it's followers. - BasalCellBossk, on 11/08/2009, -4/+15"Jesus took away these laws."
Matthew 5:17 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil."
Matt 5:18 "For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled."
'The Law' is the OT laws, the Torah. - directedition, on 11/08/2009, -2/+12And there are those in militant groups (such as the JDL) who will tell you that the 10 commandments only apply to Jews. "Thou shalt not kill (a jew)", etc. The Torah doesn't specify this because they believe it is simply understood.
Anyone can twist the words of their religion to justify killing. Islam is merely the latest religion to catch the bug. - stevebee, on 11/08/2009, -1/+11"Major Nidal Malik Hasan worshipped at a mosque led by a radical imam said to be a "spiritual adviser" to three of the hijackers who attacked America on Sept 11, 2001."
Now, how come a British paper can ferret this out, but the American military was oblivious? Or just too politically correct.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northame ... - ninjasenses, on 11/08/2009, -4/+14If a Christian had commited this crime, the emphasis probably would not have been on his religious affiliation. for Muslims unfortunately, this is the case.
- MerchantofPanic, on 11/08/2009, -1/+11Not all muslims are terrorists.
Yet most terrorists identify themselves as muslim.
If the second group would just identify themselves as 'muslim terrorists', we could stop worrying about the non terrorist muslims. - Lefts, on 11/08/2009, -0/+10The average person is an idiot.
Now what do you think will happen? - DavidNiven, on 11/08/2009, -20/+30This is not a matter where a deranged murderer happens to be a certain religion...and now everyone illogically associates that religion with murder. This is a matter where the deranged murder's religion calls for death to those who will not submit to its god. It's not a correlation thing. It's a causation thing.
Good American? No. Obedient Muslim? Yes, if you believe the Koran. THAT is the problem, and people know it. That is why there is outrage and critique of all things Muslim in this country.
Where are the massive outrages and demonstrations by the Islamic community like we've seen before? Where are all the Islamic clerics publicly condemning this evil? Where are all the Islamic scholars showing how the Koran NEVER calls for such actions? - Rogor, on 11/08/2009, -13/+23Im still waiting for the backlash the media was predicting from 9/11, Spain bombing, London tube bombing etc etc
Everytime a muslim goes on a murder spree the second or third article is about how theres going to be backlash against muslims and yet it never happens. - raybury, on 11/08/2009, -3/+12Thought experiment: Suppose the doctor had been reprimanded for proselytizing Christianity when he was supposed to be conducting grand rounds, and had handed out Bibles to his neighbors in the morning before shooting dozens of his fellow soldiers.
My favorite darkly humorous satirical headline is still "Thousands of Muslims fear backlash from tomorrow's bombings." - NightC, on 11/08/2009, -0/+8We need to start taking a closer look at religion and it's effect on people's mind. If something isn't done to curb religion we can expect more religious based killings in this country and elsewhere.
- ftc08, on 11/08/2009, -1/+9I don't even hate them for the acts of 19 brainwashed horrendously misguided souls.
- sanman, on 11/08/2009, -3/+11norman619, thanks for the gringo tourist left-speak, but exactly what are you willing to bet?
have you ever seen that Palestinian Mickey Mouse on TV, who teaches kids to be martyrs? I think that some kids are being given the wrong kind of TV, and that's the kind of TV you need to be worried about - DreamSpirit3, on 11/08/2009, -7/+15I am Muslim. I have read the Koran and it has taught me to be respectful of those of other religions as well as your own.
The Koran has taught me to treat those of other religions as you would treat those of your own religion.
This is also what has been preached in my Mosque. I don't know what Koran you have read but it is not the same one as mine.
Today our Mosque leader condemned the attacks and stated that Major Hasan will no doubt be going to Hell.
The Koran does not justify such an act. Nothing justifies such a terrible act ! - newms32, on 11/08/2009, -0/+7PSYCHOLOGY AKBAR
- stevebee, on 11/08/2009, -0/+7How the hell do you know that "No one pushed him"? Undercover investigations have shown that the imams DO push them.
- Salamati6, on 11/08/2009, -5/+12I'm not even a Muslim, in fact, I'm an Atheist from Iranian background. But that doesn't matter to the nutjob on the street who looks and sees "A brown kid! Kill him he's an extremist!"
These events are terrible, and I as an Atheist equally hate all religion. But please, don't make others suffer for the crimes of others. Not every Middle Eastern is a terrorist, not every American is part of the KKK, not every German is a Nazi.
It's okay to be critical of Islam, or even Muslims. I can't blame you, to be honest, when I see a Arab I get on edge too. At the same time though, it's not okay to beat up or kill innocent people on our misconceptions. - NightC, on 11/08/2009, -3/+10Ok so why did he yell Allah Akbar? You lose...
- lukas88, on 11/08/2009, -10/+17I assume you are just trying to be funny. There have been just as many people killed in the name of christianity as islam.
- infinitus64, on 11/08/2009, -0/+7Iranians are Persians and had candle lit vigils in the victims memory they are not the same people that were involved in 9/11 the majority were Saudi.
- 14justice, on 11/07/2009, -4/+11"We need to respect all religions no matter how misguided some of them are..."
I'm not part of your "we," brother Elijah. - dandan111, on 11/08/2009, -0/+6The soldiers at Fort Hood had it coming, says a radical Muslim in Queens who travels to mosques around the city spreading anti-American hate and has sent a "Get Well Soon" message to the major behind the Texas massacre.
"An officer and a gentleman was injured while partaking in a pre-emptive attack," Yousef al-Khattab wrote on his Web site, called "Revolution Muslim." "Get well soon Major Nidal. We love you."
In the twisted logic of al-Khattab, who was born Jewish in New Jersey and converted to Islam in 2004, the 13 slain and 38 wounded Army victims gunned down by the radical one-man sleeper cell were "terrorists" who deserved to die.
Catherine Nance
DANCES ON GRAVES: Islamic convert Yousef al-Khattab (above) runs the "Revolution Muslim" Web site from Woodside, Queens.
"These people are soldiers in a volunteer army," he told The Post during a sitdown at a Woodside, Queens, cafe. "They expect to see combat. They know the danger."
Read more: http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/queens/america_ ... - Atario, on 11/08/2009, -7/+13I don't remember a lot of Christian organizations holding press conferences denouncing any of the many many instances of Christians committing mass violence over the years.
Muslims only have to because they're the aliens and need to prove themselves, though, right? - DreamSpirit3, on 11/08/2009, -3/+9Ive been reading many articles. I get the impression he was being bullied due to his religion. For example, many army personal would shout suggestive remarks as they approached him. They would imitate the praying stance of Muslims. There was also a reported incidence of his Muslim Bumper sticker being torn off.
He was no doubt being bullied. This may have been one of the contributing factors to the rampage. This is similar to the Columbine incidence.
Also. There is no justification for such a terrible act.
Major Hassan will no doubt be going to Hell. - rlh1, on 11/08/2009, -5/+11The Islamic intrusion into the Indian sub continent.
Makes the Christians look like pikers..... - Salamati6, on 11/08/2009, -7/+13Are you muslim, or do you even look like one? Then kindly shut up.
I am an Atheist living in Canada, but I'm from Iranian dissent. And I can tell you, there is backlash. Why should I fear being shot or beat up because of something other people did? I shouldn't. But I do. - fribhey, on 11/08/2009, -3/+9@nsingapu
they held press conferences during the Spanish Inquisition?
By the way, when someone says "over the years" they usually aren't referring to a time period of hundreds of years.... - 14justice, on 11/07/2009, -9/+14Well, I'm opposed --- but nobody asked me. I also don't remember telling my elected representatives that I have noticed a shortage of Muslims here in America and would he please see what he could do to bring in more of them...
