Let us get ready for this great battle against Scientology! - diggitny, on 02/10/2008, -6/+95The diggtologists have disappeared more postings today just before they his the front page. What gives?
Watch Scientologists "handle" an SP (suppressive person) who shows up to their party. "What are your crimes? Murder, perhaps!" Great stuff: http://youtube.com/watch?v=pPol_m8wm8Y - michaelfitz, on 02/10/2008, -13/+94Soldiers, Citizens and Hackers of the Anonymous Expeditionary Force!
You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many days. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the Scientology war machine, the elimination of RTC's tyranny over the oppressed peoples of the internet, and security for ourselves in a free world.
Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped and battle hardened. He will fight savagely.
But this is the year 2008! Much has happened since the Cults triumphs of 1993. The brave S.P.s have inflicted upon the Cult great defeats, in open battle, man-to-man. Our latest offensive has seriously reduced their strength online and their capacity to wage war in the tubes. Our Home Fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions of war, and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained fighting men and women. The tide has turned! The free Anonymous of the world are marching together to Victory!
I have full confidence in your courage and devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full Victory!
Good luck! And let us beseech the blessings of the world upon this great and noble undertaking. -Anonymous - Shadow120, on 02/10/2008, -12/+69in b4 "what's with all the scientology posts these days?"

- prisoner24601, on 02/10/2008, -1/+46END THEIR TAX EXEMPTION!
Anyone can believe ANYTHING they want to, freedom of religion is absolute, but any religion that copyrights their "scriptures" should be automatically rejected by the IRS as a tax-exempt organization.
I, an adamant Christian, would be the first in line to SUPPORT an "atheist church" if they appealed to the IRS for tax exempt status. Imagine that a group of atheists were so focused on their beliefs they wanted to hire Dawkins to be their "pastor" and literally employ him full-time to "preach" atheism. Would that disturb me? Sure. Would their beliefs repulse me? Absolutely. Should they be TAX EXEMPT? ABSOLUTLEY! Why? Because atheists, Muslims, Mormons, Buddhists, and every other major group will openly expose their "scriptures" and never hide them behind copyright law! They ALL will educate people without regard to ability to pay.
If you *copyright* your doctrines you are still free to practice your "faith" but you should instantly lose the benefit of tax-exempt status. The IRS is far overdue to correct their capitulation to this cult in 1993! - TheAmbushAhead, on 02/10/2008, -2/+44I love the use of the USSR national anthem (1977 Red Army Choir edition.) - johnamus, on 02/10/2008, -12/+30If you read about Scientology you will notice that their writings instill a belief in their members that the world is out to destroy their "religion". Scientology cult members use this as a motivation to spread their beliefs against a perceived widespread persecution. I will probably be dug down for sayng the following, but to me this whole "anonymous" campaign reeks of an inside job. They use scientologist terms such as SP and they market themselves as a naziish, self described expeditionary force. This would in and of itself turn off people who know nothing about what they stand for.
When it comes to cult recruiting, bad press is better than no press since the targeted audience is a little kooky or depressed and has the propensity to side with the guys who are facing the attacks. If not an inside job, anonymous is doing more harm than good, people don't join a cult due to a well reasoned decision, so exposing the farce of scientology by showcasing the lack of logic that it entails will do nothing but advertise this "religion" to people whom have never heard of it before. - Ivthypain, on 02/10/2008, -6/+24The Church of Scientology has been aggressively engaged in speech suppression and intimidation of anyone and everyone that's critical of their insane policies, THIS INCLUDES DIGG.

Hacking and computers is all I know, but I don't know enough to do enough damage to political organizations or people that have their fingers in everything.

Scientology is a cult and should be defined as such by the governments of the world so the laws safe guarding churches and more to the point the tax breaks are no longer applicable to them. - widgetmaker, on 02/10/2008, -5/+20Anon wont do anything in the long run, but best of luck to it even if it turns a few people off CoS it will still be doing good.

- GREEDOnvrFIRED, on 02/10/2008, -3/+17I have a better idea. Instead of fairness by providing tax exemption to all groups who fit the criteria, how about fairness via taking away tax exemption from all of these groups. Make money? pay taxes. Make money in the name of make believe? Pay taxes.

And the scientologists use internet terms like "hacker." This is a war fool, and the first rule of war is *know thy foe*. How could Anon be justified in his war if he did not even know anything about the enemy? Secondly, just because a side declares itself righteous doesn't mean it's "nazi-ish" by any means, Anonymous does not FORCE people into joining its campaign. Unlike Scientology, Anonymous does not enslave people to work 12 hours a day 7 days a week to live in cramped dorms and get paid $50 an hour, like Lisa McPherson (who DIED under "care" by the CoS) and Jennifer Stewart (who was RAPED by a chief superviser of Scientology).
>> This would in and of itself turn off people who know nothing about what they stand for.
That's why *you* are turned off, *you* know nothing about the good that Anonymous is doing, nor the evil committed by Scientology. So do yourself a favour, search Google for "scientology victims," or look up some Anonymous pages to find the REAL reasons why the collective Internet community is fighting back against a tyrant.
>> If not an inside job, anonymous is doing more harm than good, people don't join a cult due to a well reasoned decision, so exposing the farce of scientology by showcasing the lack of logic that it entails will do nothing but advertise this "religion" to people whom have never heard of it before.
Again you clearly fail to understand the goal of Anonymous. Anonymous WANTS you to know about Scientology. They WANT you to know names of victims like Lisa McPhearson. They WANT you to know the logical reasons why Scientology should be obliterated. Anonymous is getting to you with good logic and correct reasoning first, before Scientology has the chance to play its hand of corrupted practices and demands of "faith." Just look at Tom Cruise! The man *believes* he is the only one who can help at the scene of a car accident! THIS IS WHAT SCIENTOLOGY DOES TO YOU. Scientology is like a virus. If you have never been exposed to the virus then you are most succeptible to catching it. Anonymous' goal is to let the world know, to IMMUNIZE the world and stamp the virus out. - Devilboy666, on 02/10/2008, -1/+14Everyone please digg niffin - that article was buried and never reached the front page as it should have (look at all the diggs!) and it's not off-topic.

- cmccool, on 02/10/2008, -0/+10"One of Scientology's main strategies is to keep advancing the tired argument that the church is being "persecuted" by antireligionists. It is supported in that position by the American Civil Liberties Union and the National Council of Churches. But in the end, money is what Scientology is all about. As long as the organization's opponents and victims are successfully squelched, Scientology's managers and lawyers will keep pocketing millions of dollars by helping it achieve its ends."
