It's one of the easiest things to charge, so even when you should be charged with something else, you'll typically get hit with that in addition or instead of any other crimes. Even if you cause someone else to mail something, it's mail fraud.

            For instance, if you claim to be a particular firm, and invite people to send in a donation, and they do... two counts of mail fraud. One for the mailed solicitation you sent, and another for the one they sent back - even though you didn't mail it! Just causing it to be mailed is enough. You can even cause someone to mail it to someone else (not you) and it'll still be counted as though you committed mail fraud. If the victim sends ten mailings, guess how many counts you just got, even if you initially sent only one letter?

The very act of sending fraudulent mail through the USPS is what matters. All the prosecution has to do from there is prove that the communications were indeed fraudulent. The only role the USPS plays at that point is to verify that the communications were sent through their delivery system, which is trivial.

          In this instance, it's not something that needs reporting. When mail is involved in an indictment, it's something that every prosecutor will look into regardless. It's not something that a sympathetic government employee can simply make disappear.

          The only (dim) hope for the accused is that the documents in question are not available, either physically or due to a skilled defense attorney somehow putting them legally out of bounds. That's something you can do with classified materials, I suppose, but not here.

            There is no leader, there is no central command. There are guidelines created by Anons for Anons, and for NonAnons. There are collaborative works such as this created by hundreds of Anons in general agreement.

Hit youtube for Scientology and you'll see lots of protest vids taking place outside of Sci HQs (similar to our future event on the 2/10, perhaps). Yes, there are more aggressive attacks going on - the blackfaxes, the DDOSing, the phonespam - but those are only a single appendage of the Anonymous mass. Anonymous is a swarm. Each member will try to meet the same goals using their own abilities. With enough of them putting in enough dedication, sooner or later they will succeed.

Anonymous is like a very interesting collective consciousness, in that its made up of a countless many individual voices, most of which have no identity on any of the others, and yet, somehow, the chaos of it all melds into what it is, which is actually a frighteningly efficient 'machine' for causing more chaos, which also serves anonymous to grow even more legion.

      I think, in a way, this is a form of evolution we're seeing with this... and i'm sure many people don't understand how truly groundbreaking it is.

He, of course concludes I should come for a free analysis. When he seemed done, I politely requested if I could ask a few questions of my own as I had given him some of my time. My questions where not overly offensive, they concerned their policy of attacking free speech on the web. He responded it was self defense, like any other religion he claimed. I insisted that I failed to see any other religion using copyright laws to censor internet content. I never lost my calm, or went openly offensive but the guy just shut down like a machine. His only response was "come to our offices talk to our PR" (paraphrasing). I insisted a little bit and he snapped that you don't just go to a church and start asking questions to someone. I replied pointing to the nearest Christian church that yes I could just go there and ask stuff to the priest. Anyway, I told him I didn't go in his "church", he came to me in a public place asking me questions. He turned around and left.
      No need for violence people, just go and waist their time, politely ask them taboo questions. Just given them enough rope, they'll hang themselves.
